I have to get my soda from a soda machine because the RPAC in the basement near the lockers only takes payments from students and facility who are members of the RPAC, but they have huge space for working out, taking fitness classes, and another pool that has 8 lanes (25 yards) that has a movable floor and waterslide area for families. I tried calling both the people (T & H, for short) who administer the test to schedule it and neither one called me back. I also texted one of them (H) and never heard back. So I called the rec center and they gave me the email for H. I emailed him and he replied and we scheduled it. Then, two hours before the time we had scheduled, he emailed me and said he would be teaching a class at that time and could I do it myself? I had never paid attention to the set-up of the procedure so I said no. So he said he would get someone to cover for him and he'd be there at our scheduled time. I got there early and waited about 15 minutes before I went to the front desk to tell them I needed help with the scheduled test. The person followed me back to the in-body room and pointed to a man and said "That's H". So he was out in the hallway having a conversation and I was waiting (at that point nearly 20 minutes) for him. He came in and gave me the test. Some version of this happens every 3 months when I buy new passes and have to run the gauntlet to get my free test and it is extremely frustrating.

The senior center has always been friendly and a great place to relax and talk with others. Off to the side there is a hockey-themed climbing area for bigger kids, and a workout area for adults with a grownup-style climbing wall. And they still rock HARD?! USC Lyon Center, please take notes. My one gym back in California can't even compare to JOS, our local, smaller gym that is big enough to get everything you need down. There are plenty of cardio machines, weights and even a newly finished basketball court in the back. All sporting equipment can easily be rented from the front desk. The hours here are also not too shabby, as I can just wake up early at 7 to go do my thing (not that I have yet, but soon enough!) I love this place, and although it's smaller than the RPAC, it still holds up very well on its own. Plus it's air conditioned! I don't think the one on north side can really compare. Work hard!

The McKnight Outdoor Education Center is a great offering from Columbus Recreation and Parks. It is…read morelocated near Duranceau Park and offers two lodges, Ottawa and Wyandot, plus a really nice area to hike around and enjoy caves and the creek. We held an event at the Wyandot Lodge that included a program led by the education center staff, and it was excellent. It was quick and easy to make the reservation, and the staff was fantastic throughout the event. All of the guests had an excellent time and were excited to find out about this resource. There are some wonderful animals in Wyandot Lodge to look at too.

The staff tends to be on the younger side when I've come, but they enforce the rules fairly and I have never felt like they were neglectful about their duties (sometimes that's just ringing me up, sometimes it's answering my boys' questions - they've always been good).
