I had a great experience getting tattooed by Kira @stuckbykira yesterday! She was on time and friendly from the start of the appointment. She made sure I liked the drawing and made changes as needed. She then printed out multiple sizes and had me place them wherever I wanted so I felt certain about placement. She placed the stencils perfectly. Everything felt sanitary and efficient. She did two tattoos on me and finished in 3 hours. Her vibe was great during the tattoo and she has a light hand. Lastly, her pricing was super fair! I definitely do NOT recommend this place for any type of piercing, sure they may be able to do it but only if they're feeling like it that day or if they have the jewelry (they wont). I'm disappointed to say that the piercers are completely unprofessional, especially Ana! They wasted my friends time and didn't have the curtesy to communicate that they were going to leave early after confirming they would be there till closing to do said piercing. On top of that they didn't have certain pieces for jewelry that I wanted, so they sold me half of the jewelry. Overall it took us over 3 hours to get 2 piercings for me, my friend didnt even get hers. I will say they had one person ahead of us but they had no sense of urgency to make money or give simple customer service. read more

Unfortunately, I had a bad experience here. Everyone at the shop was very nice, but I had a tattoo appointment with Genevieve (@emotatts) scheduled for 4:00 p.m. and wasn't seen until around 6:00-7:00 p.m. I was understanding and didn't mind waiting, so that wasn't my main concern. What I'm most disappointed about is the quality of the tattoos. Since they're on my back, I didn't get a close look until I got home. After seeing them up close, I noticed numerous inconsistencies, uneven line work, and areas that appear poorly done. Overall, I'm very unhappy with how they turned out. I reached out to Genevieve, and while she offered complimentary touch-ups due to healing inconsistencies, that's the only solution she provided. And then she stopped replying. She wouldn't offer me a refund or even a partial refund because i mentioned i wanted to have another artist fix it. Unfortunately, I don't feel comfortable having her work on my tattoos again because I no longer trust that they'll be corrected to the standard I was expecting. Today I was met with unprofessionalism from this tattoo shop with the piercer Anna I called at 2:30 to assure that there would be piercer to pierce my friend and I and they confirmed that they would be piercer till six. They mentioned there would be a one person wait so we decided to arrive at 4:30. We waited 30 minutes in the lobby before someone attended us. that's when they took our IDs then waited another 30 minutes for them to give us paperwork and then another 20 after that for them to ask my friend if she wanted to get pierced first 10 minutes after that a different piercer came out and told me that she wouldn't be able to pierce my tragus I'm very disappointed with the quality of service that I experienced today I've been coming to this tattoo shop for five piercings on five different occasions. I've soon realized that the old staff was much better prepared with serving their customers, they were way more attentive way more prepared and overall had a better attitude and sense of urgency than the current stuff we met today. read more

Drove 45 minutes out to see my regular piercer when my jewelry fell out. Turns out he closed early today. I'm not from the area. I decided that I would just come here after seeing their good reviews on yelp. Walk in and it's a cool spot. It's pretty busy when I get there. I let them know that I just wanted my jewelry switched out. I was informed that there was a 45 minute wait. There were a few people ahead of me. No problem. The girl says to come back around 6:30. It was about 5:40ish when I got there. I leave my name and my number with her and she tells me that she'll just text me when she's ready for me. I leave to go kill some time. 6:30 rolls around. No text. 6:45 rolls around. No text. I decide to just head back anyways to see what's up. I get there and they let me know that the piercer usually goes home around 6:30. No one else in the shop could change out my jewelry. That's all I wanted done. They ended up just selling me new jewelry that I can't even put in by myself. Which is why I wanted to come to a piercer and pay them for that service. Ended up staying out here for almost two hours for nothing. Shop looked cool and the guy who helped me out afterwards was nice. I appreciate the customer service that he gave me. Everything else was just an unfortunate experience. read more

I'm writing this review for 3 people. The first person I'm going to shout out is Talia (Tattoo Artist). I had been wanting to get another tattoo for a while now and I found blackbird on yelp, so I just casually walked in. Talia was the one that helped me out, and she was super friendly & helpful! Even though she was busy, she took the time to listen to what I wanted and recommended the best artists for the specific style I wanted. I am pretty impulsive, so I was ready to just book an appointment with her, but she strongly recommended I check out the other artists as well. She could've easily just said "yeah I'll take you" and book the appointment, but she didn't and that was awesome. Mad respect for her. The next person that is contributing to this 5-star review is Lessly (Piercer). I had my ears pierced before, but I let the holes close. Also, I made the foolish mistake of trying to re-pierce them myself a while ago (bad idea), so it created some scar tissue. I went to a different piercer about two years ago and she told me I couldn't re-pierce my ears because I had too much scar tissue. Turns out I really didn't have that much scar tissue, and my ears were still able to get pierced. Lessly was dope! I didn't have an appointment (I was there for a tattoo consultation) and she was very knowledgeable! Highly recommend her Last but not least, Andre (Tattoo Artist that gave me the sickest bicep piece haha!) sealed the deal. I got my first tattoo here from Talia, and three piercings from Andre. So so so happy with all their work. I had my piercings done first and was supposed to go for a 4th cartilage but Andre advised to come back another time for it, just because the first three were so close together that it would be hard getting to the rook so close to two fresh piercings...a thoughtful suggestion for my own sake which I appreciated. He took the time to clean up after I bled a lot too. My tattoo design was pretty simple but Talia took her time with it and made sure all the corners were tight and all the lines were clean and solid. Alright I'm a little upset for my gf who came by for a piercing today. Shes been wanting her septum for awhile now, and usually I get my work done by Johnny from kokopelli out of Southgate. But being I no longer live close to the area I called this place, since we stopped by one time for a jewelry change and the young girl was so helpful. Today we showed up and the gentlemen andre who was piercing helped us. He was super chill, she signed the waiver, got the jewelry, he set up and both of us went to the back. He took out the clamps, needle, all was well. He aligned the clamp to her nose, had her breathe and pushed the needle through. Now..she was in super pain, i thought it was due to just receiving a normal piercing but when he added the jewelry I noticed right away how low, and close to the edge the piercing was. I'm thinking, this doesn't seem right. I mentioned it to my mom who was waiting in the lobby so she made the comment. The gentlemen said, no this is normal placement, but, I have my septum and where my dude pierced it, it's more higher, in the bulb area of your nose, just above the cartilage. This who thing bothered me so much being the piercings here aren't the cheapest, that I reached out to my homie Johnny at koko and sent this picture that I took asking him if it was placed properly and he advised no. It's extremely wrong being, it can easily be ripped out. Now what is frustrating is that my girl is now going to take it out after spending $60 bucks and has no interest of going through this again because she is tainted from the second traumatic experience getting a piercing. I hate being this person as the dude was nice, but I'd suggest not coming here, if the young girl is not piercing, so the attached photo doesn't happen to you. read more

I got my (o.o) re-pierced after taking them out for 5+ months. I had regretted taking them out but they were constantly irritated. On an impulse, I called and went into Blackbird and was pierced by Lessly. From the start, I felt such at ease with my piercing experience. Lessly had asked how I was feeling, my history with piercings and was mindful throughout the whole process. With every step, Lessly vocalized what she would do before doing it, and checked in regularly to make sure I was comfortable. This is especially helpful for someone like me who has had painful experiences before. While clamping she made sure to apply just as much pressure as needed to stabilize the area without any unnecessary strain. I was originally apprehensive because I was scared for a needle going through old scar tissue in an already sensitive area but my piercing experience with Lessly was SOOO much better than my first. (Which was done by a cishet dude...so I should've known. *I'll save that discourse for another day.) In the week and a half that I've gotten my piercings redone, there has been minimal swelling, bleeding, etc. Just book a session with Lessly, I promise you won't regret it! read more

Waited a little to write after the healing process for my sister and she did not get an infection, nor did she have any issues. She did replace the standard ring that was a little too big for her likings with a cute metal she purchased elsewhere...since they did only have a small limited amount of options for her to chose from. One and a half years after a previous ear piercing gone wrong (done elsewhere), I was finally ready to get my ear lobe re-pierced. Due to my anxiety from the previous experience, I searched yelp for an hour or two trying to find a spot that met my criteria: 5 stars without complaints about the piercings or piercers, and accepts walk-ins. I settled on Blackbird, and I am beyond pleased with my decision. I had first called to make sure they take walk-ins, and the man who answered the phone was friendly and took a moment to inform me that they were only accepting cash or zelle. This was helpful to know in advance. I arrived at the shop and there was one other person waiting for a service. A man out front alerted Leslie that I was there for a piercing. She first had me sign a waiver and checked my ID. Then she so kindly and patiently helped me pick out the right earring for my ear, which was included in the price of the piercing ($35 for a piercing and earring!). She went to the back to set up, and soon after it was time for my ear to be pierced. I am a bit of a perfectionist, so I really appreciated when Leslie took the time to make sure the placement was perfect before moving forward. She never rushed me or made me feel like I was being too particular. The actual piercing was smooth, easy, and came out great!
