We went here for my partner's birthday while we were on vacation. First and foremost I want to applaud their safety efforts. Tables were appropriately distanced, and seating was exclusively outdoors when we went, thus reducing any chance of spreading any contaminated air particles. Staff wore masks, and as guests were were instructed to wear masks when getting up AND when talking with staff. As an Ohioan resident, the latter is not implemented, but honestly I wish it was. Restaurant staff need to be protected as well. The server brought us complimentary housemate beverages to begin the evening, an unexpected added bonus (which were deliciously refreshing, if I remember correctly, made from a grapefruit base). All staff was convivial, friendly, and easygoing. The food was next-level. Granted, this is a moderately upscale dining experience, despite the casual, down to earth ambiance that is quintessentially Colorado. The focaccia was fresh and perfectly balanced in that slight give, the crunchy exterior, and soft and oily interior. I'm partial to burrata above a lot of cheese options, especially with focaccia, and this didn't disappoint. The fennel pesto and nasturtium helped to lift the otherwise indulgent starter. The charcuterie board was well plated, offered a wide variety of flavors and textures, leaning on the sharper side of flavors, feeling a little French (as its namesake). The star of the show was the wagyu. With no exaggeration I will proclaim that this was the best cut of meat I have ever consumed. The perimeter had a nice salty crisp to it, the interior was juicy, flavorful, a melt in your mouth, no knife needed experience. I was viscerally taken aback. And each bite was like the first. Paired with the market fresh tomatoes, black garlic aioli, and shallot, the acidity, warmth, umami, and herbaceous boxes were all checked. Simply fantastic. My partner, a more frequent meat eater stated that this was the best meat he had eaten in over a decade. Last but certainly not least, we finished the night with their seasonal vanilla cherry bombe. Aesthetically pleasing Bavarian cream and dacquoise with poached cherries and vanilla cherry sauce. A nice subtle finish to the meal, if a little homogeneous. I would suggest a little citrus acid in the cherry sauce, and maybe some more incorporation of cherries throughout the dish. Overall, one of the best parts of our vacation. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a moderately priced meal. Fans of rich flavor and fine cuisine, without the pretentiousness that sometimes come with fine dining, reserve a table at Blackbelly for dinner. read more

Honestly, I thought it was very nice but... overpriced. I've lived in NYC for many years and I'm used to spending money on good meals but those were so tiny! We got out of there kinda hungry even though we spent $200+ (and we are not "big" people lol). If you go there, don't go hungry. Eat something first :P Other than that we liked it ;) read more

We decided to try this place since we had heard good things about it. Sat on the patio, nice wooden tables, good atmosphere. We both felt like burgers so ordered their burger plate along with a side of beets and sugar snap peas, which the waiter recommended over the green beans. Apparently, a lot of the menu items, which were limited in quantity were already sold out, this at 7:45p on a Sat evening... Burgers were huge and came with Swiss, lettuce, onion, tomato and 2 super thick slices of bacon...generous portion of their Kennenec fries, dill pickle and aioli mustard and ketchup on the side. Absolutely delicious and easily sharable it was so much food! The roasted beets with bacon and cheese was also very tasty, but couldn't fit it since the burger was so big...so asked to take it home but our waiter forgot to bring it back boxed...alas since it was $5 & only about a cupful so would've liked to eat it later... The sugar snap peas we're sadly not so great.....they basically seemed like overgrown peas with a chewy shell and grassy tasting peas. The waiter said the kitchen said they were picked just early which is why the color was pale...but my husband grew up on a farm and we also just picked peas from our own garden that looked exactly like these. ..and these did not seem like sugar snap peas at all in color, texture and flavor...so the waiter was kind enough to take it off the bill. Husband had a local beer, which wasn't his first choice, his 1st choice wasn't available. He said it was good, but hoppy. ..lots of IPAs on the menu. I had a cranberry soda with lime, which is hard to mess up... The waiter offered us dessert but we were too full...maybe next time... Place was full and clearly popular. ..a bit on the pricey side but staff was very nice. Definitely recommend the burger for you burgers fans! Blackbelly has been our go to restaurant since they have opened. We go for special occasions, to treat out of town guests, for casual happy hours and special events like New Years Eve. We always have a guaranteed great meal and friendly, knowledgeable service. We recently contacted Marni in their catering department to set up a special birthday dinner in our home. It was one of the best meals and evenings we have ever had. Everything was top notch from beginning to end. The catering department was organized, clear and extremely easy to communicate with. I would think planning a large scale event with them would be a pleasure. Our server Matt was beyond professional and made sure to treat our home as his own, leaving it cleaner than when he arrived. The food was beyond memorable, Hosea prepared a stellar meal. We started with copious appetizers, all presented beautifully and at perfect timed intervals. The dinner amazed us with 4 courses, each one better than the last. The winter squash soup with blue crab was one of the favorites. The wagyu filet was cooked perfectly for each guest. An exceptional experience at Blackbelly. I typically avoid new restaurants for at least the first month so they can work out the problems. I'm pleased I went to Blackbelly on their opening night. No problems - these are experienced chefs and restauranteurs. We had, and highly recommend, the half chicken, the posole, lemon sausage, a slice of goat cheese, and perfect bread. Service was excellent. I'd been to this location before with the previous restaurant. Blackbelly has completely morphed the formerly average space into a comfortable, casual atmosphere I'd find in downtown Boulder or Denver's Highlands. Blackbelly catering just did our daughters wedding, in an art gallery with no reall facilities for them. IT WAS FLAWLESS! Fabulous food, and the best waitstaff and bartenders in the world. When you walk in and the GM knows how you like your Sazerac, you've either got a bad rep or a good one. Let's hope it's the latter. Wow. If opening night is any indication of things to come, this restaurant takes a spot at the top. First, the buildout is beautiful. Open kitchen, butcher shop, yet cozy and a beautiful bar. I came in with my wife and son but see myself a solo regular at the bar. Service was excellent. Even with a little bit of a safer opening menu, it offered quite a bit to be excited about. The green chili pozole was great as well as I now have a place to indulge on roasted bone marrow. The lamb shank hit the spot perfect with the cassoulet (it was snowing out)! My wife thoroughly enjoyed the salmon (although I secretly wanted her to get the prawn and pork dish!) As mentioned before, the GM knowing a good Sazerac is an indication of the cocktail program. Nothing crazy, no hip potions (refreshing), but a solid menu. Happy hour menu was great too. Next time I'll be sure to start out with the "shot and a beer". Great idea. Dessert was the carrot cake and the awesome Sundae with bacon peanut brittle. Solid. Looking forward to a lunch menu and spending hours at the bar solo, eating great food and drink, while the wife is working nights. We had a wonderful meal trying several of the appetizers, the roasted bone marrow was spectacular, the pork rillette and sausage of the day were full of flavor. The chef did his best to cater for my gluten free wife with apple slices instead of bread for the marrow and rillette. The shrimp and pork belly main course was exceptional. Great food is nothing without service, and the service was wonderful. The manager came to check on our meal, the waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable about the full menu and how each dish was prepared, and even those bussing the table were friendly and attentive.
