There is also a long counter area with a sink, microwave, and small refrigerator. The proprietors supplied the room with a portable burners, if you wish to cook. Since there weren't restaurants in the area, we stopped at Whole Foods in Denver and stocked up on food for the weekend. After a long day of hiking, this was a great place to relax and unwind. Oh yes, there was also wireless internet for those who must stay connected. Liz was a great host to us. She offered to loan us winter gear for our trek, and she had homemade peanut butter cookies waiting for us upon our return. We stayed two nights- early the morning of our attempt at Mt Elbert, she made a robust breakfast of eggs, bacon, and toast. The next morning was more relaxed, and she met us with pancakes and sausage. Delicious. The view was wonderful as well- on the patio, there are plenty of chairs to lounge around an outdoor fireplace, and there is a jacuzzi. All this overlooks Twin Lakes and the majestic mountains in the background. Next time, I hope to indulge in the outdoor amenities!

We had traveled out there in November to recon for the Leadville 100 MTB race. Then again we returned in August 2014 for the Leadville 100 MTB race. They have an awesome home, which they've shared with us as a B&B. Liz has cooked great us many great breakfasts and we've shared awesome conversations about all things in life - kids, life, teaching and the Leadville 100 MTB race. Since they live along the Leadville MTB race route and usually have racers staying with them, for the race they go out to cheer on and support the racers. They have a beautiful home, which I wish I could actually buy since they're selling it to move on to their next chapter in life. However, until they sell it appears they will either rent the entire house or just the B&B portion. Don't hesitate to contact James or Liz to spend the night or even 10 days with them... You won't regret it! We really hope to can stay at A Wolf Den for the 2015 Leadville race. Not only have Liz & James been great inn keepers, they have become friends whom we'll keep in touch with for years to come.

I had been planning a "men's adventure" with friends from out of state for a couple of years. We all wanted some time in the woods without sleeping on the ground Mt Elbert Lodge was a natural choice. This was my first time staying here since the new owners took over. What a pleasant surprise! They're very nice and welcoming, the mattresses were new and oh so comfortable, and the barn had been freshened up without losing any of it's old timey charm. This made for the perfect launch point for our daily adventures into the surrounding area. Our days were filled with fishing in the streams, renting e-bikes in BV, and doing the Interlaken trail. Then we'd return in the evening to unwind by the campfire with cigars and stories while the sun faded and the stars presented themselves. It's been many years since I've seen so many stars! My only piece of construction criticism is, I wish they provided wood for the campfire. Even if they wanted to charge a reasonable fee for it, like 6 pieces for $5. Having a campfire really added to our stay and if the wood was already there it would've been easier. Beyond that, it was a flawless experience and I look forward to returning in the future.

Not only is the location BEYOND amazing, like the best ever, but the lodge is over 100 years old so it's like staying in a piece of history. On top of all that, the owners were incredible. Insanely nice, accommodating and hospitable. This is my first legit review and I had to make it because I loved my experience here so much. Amazing stay, amazing place, DO NOT PASS UP THIS SPOT!

We had our rehearsal dinner on September 4th, Jeff has the audacity to call and text on my personal cell phone our first night at 11:00pm accusing of going over the occupant limit and having a dog. We have screenshots of our conversation prior to booking regarding how many people who will be present and our animal is ESA certified. Jeff is a property manager not the owner of the property, keep in mind, and was watching on game trail cameras invading privacy and causing an issue during our rehearsal dinner with family. He then threatened me that he will be driving down to the house to handle it himself and in return I told him he needs to chill the "f" out. Now the sorry old man only has the fact that I used a curse word towards him and still accusing us of going over our limit of people when we have provided proof of communication between his partner and my wife regarding the amount of people going to be present. We have issued all of this to Airbnb and will be receiving a refund due to not only this scenario, but the house being absolutely filthy with past guests clothes being left, dirty dishes in the cabinets and absolute immaturity and invasion of privacy throughout our stay.

We proactively messaged many homes in the area with the knowledge of having 14 people in total for rehearsal and our elopement dinner. We got approved before booking as we had planned and had 6 months of communication prior to. Upon the first night with only 12 guest in the home which is the limit, we were contacted separately on our personal phones by Jeff the manager of this company from watching cameras. He threatened us and our family and wanted to come to the property to "handle things his way". I have never felt more unsafe and uncomfortable and sad before our small elopement in the mountains. We would have never booked without prior consent to this as we did have. Let alone being threatened by Jeff. I will blast this all over every review page I can so no one else can experience this. Pictured below is confirmation on our end prior to booking. This company put the worst taste in our families mouth for our elopement weekend with again 14 people when the count is 12 for the home WITH PRIOR CONSENT. Let alone we had only 8 guest sleep in the home with the rest of our families in hotels. If you want a horrible experience or to be threatened then go ahead and book with Jeff. If not I would run FAR and FAST.
