We got the 3rd floor and paid extra for a "view". There was no view. In fact, we had to look at the building under demolition next to us. I don't recommend the 3rd floor, unless you get unit 301. Unit 301 is the only one that has a view. The office is open 24 hours, and they have coffee and a couple other little things. The coffee is a k-cup type, and they actually have pods of decaf! And it's delicious! We will stay here again, but we will get 2nd floor or room 301.

It was one big room with a table and 3 chairs, closet, tv and dresser. I would suggest a higher floor to get away from the noise from the above neighbors. We especially liked being in the one room because it gave off the "family vibe". It was myself, son, grandson and sons girlfriend. We called it our "Walton Family Getaway." We would definately go back to stay in the future. The owner was friendly and so was the staff. My only complaint would be the noise from neighbors and the entry door was like a bedroom door. A little to flimsy for my taste. This would be the reason for only 4 stars.

However, if you don't enjoy being cold/wet/up high/falling down, I highly suggest the warmer months for a visit. Why? #1 Even on the hottest day in Denver, it's significantly cooler in the mountains. With 100+ temps this past weekend in the city, Aspen was a breezy 78 degrees. #2 It's not nearly as crowded in the summer. Sure, there's tourists and locals milling about, but it's not a total sh*tshow walking around downtown. #3 Accommodations are affordable. Case and point is our stay at Hotel Durant, which was about $150 on a Saturday night. Located within walking distance of most of the Aspen bars/restaurants/nightlife, this was the perfect place to stay. It's not as posh as Hotel Jerome or Limelight, but it was cozy and plenty nice for a night in Aspen proper. Side note: there's a complimentary continental breakfast for guests in the a.m. Nice touch! It's closer to $300/night in the winter months, but that's likely due to the fact that it's SO CLOSE to the mountain lift. You can walk right over with your skis/snowboard within a few minutes. That's pure convenience.

I paid around $342 for one night, and even understanding that Aspen is an expensive and popular destination, I expected the hotel to feel a little more elevated for that price point. The property has a very small, quaint, almost residential feel. Some people may really enjoy that atmosphere, but personally, I was expecting something a bit brighter, more open, and with more amenities for what I was paying. The overall experience felt much more like staying in a guest room at a relative's home than staying at a $300+ per night hotel. The complimentary breakfast was probably the biggest disappointment. The selection consisted of two cereals (one being Cheerios), individually wrapped bagels and muffins, small containers of Activia yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, strawberry jam, milk, orange juice, and basic coffee with half-and-half and sugar. There were no warm food options at all. I certainly wasn't expecting an extravagant breakfast buffet, but at this price point, I think some fresh pastries, fresh fruit, better coffee options, and at least one or two warm breakfast choices would have made the experience feel considerably more thoughtful and reflective of the nightly rate. I recognize that part of what you're paying for is the Aspen location, and the hotel does have a cozy, traditional feel that may appeal to some travelers. However, when comparing it to other hotels I've stayed at within a similar price range that offer more updated spaces, amenities, and a more substantial breakfast, I personally didn't feel the value was there. Overall, my stay wasn't bad--it was simply very underwhelming for the price. For $342 for a single night, I left feeling like I expected quite a bit more from the overall experience.

The room was surprisingly very nice and the bathroom was super nice! Felt like I was in a Marriot hotel. The lodge had complimentary SUP and kayaks for the guests to use which was a great perk! My Only complaint was that the mattress was extremely uncomfortable (...like I would of slept better camping) which kind of sucked because everything else was so great about the place. The phone service was no good but that is was is so fun and relaxing about small remote towns. It's nice to unplug. I had been planning a "men's adventure" with friends from out of state for a couple of years. We all wanted some time in the woods without sleeping on the ground Mt Elbert Lodge was a natural choice. This was my first time staying here since the new owners took over. What a pleasant surprise! They're very nice and welcoming, the mattresses were new and oh so comfortable, and the barn had been freshened up without losing any of it's old timey charm. This made for the perfect launch point for our daily adventures into the surrounding area. Our days were filled with fishing in the streams, renting e-bikes in BV, and doing the Interlaken trail. Then we'd return in the evening to unwind by the campfire with cigars and stories while the sun faded and the stars presented themselves. It's been many years since I've seen so many stars! My only piece of construction criticism is, I wish they provided wood for the campfire. Even if they wanted to charge a reasonable fee for it, like 6 pieces for $5. Having a campfire really added to our stay and if the wood was already there it would've been easier. Beyond that, it was a flawless experience and I look forward to returning in the future.

Not to mention the direct access to the hot tub was a plus, which was a great addition. The host, Chris, is a superb cook and prepares a high-quality breakfast every morning of a variety of delicacies. I'm not even a fan of eggs but his Southwestern frittata has made me a believer now. He's very attentive to allergies as well and will always do his best to accommodate. My wife has a severe gluten allergy and he was always sure to supply a substitute. The only other thing he hosted regularly was beer tastings at 5, which we were unable to attend due to our plans, but he does have a nice selection of brews stored for it. The views from the B&B are great and it's located just a short walk from Elk Ave, where you'll find all the main shops and restaurants. Even closer is the bus stop that'll take you up the mountain.
