Sadly I was rather busy and figured it would be easier to just bring it in. Kirk's communication was less than ideal. I spoke with Kirk on the phone 5 times. Every time I called. This was slightly annoying but acceptable. The true tragedy of my visit to Avalanche Auto was when the car was finally finished Kirk charged me 25% more than I was originally quoted. This was an upsetting surprise. I payed what was asked even though almost 600$ is absurd to replace a wheel bearing. Kirk is the owner of his shop and that is admirable I would hate for him to loose business. This being said I believe there are much better local shops in the Bozeman area. If you use Avalanche Auto I recommend talking to Kirk in person if you would like to be treated like a person.

I just moved to Bozeman and thought there wasn't rude people here and this guy honestly ruined my experience of having such a positive outlook here. NOT TO MENTION - my check engine light came back on the next day!

Within one business day, he responded that the Operations Director would be contacting me to address my concerns. Within another two business days I spoke to the Operations Director who apologized for the mistake that led to blown fuse and cut me a check for the cost of the other mechanic for his time and the part. My faith has been restored in Billion Auto Group.

Coming off the holiday weekend Tom's was pretty booked with usual customer repairs. TJ said he would do his best to look at it by the end of the day. Sure enough we got a call saying that we needed new calipers, rotors and brake pads at the end of the day. He said it would be ready by the end of day the next day. My daughter has had a couple of issues with her car. They fixed my daughter's car at a great price. Their technicians were very knowledgeable, explained exactly what the problem was and what it would take to fix it. Having worked on my Jeep Wrangler before, replacing the cam and rocker arms, I was very familiar with the types of issues that are common on the Jeep. Their assessment was right on! I immediately returned, but after a brief inspection I was told there was nothing wrong. When I left the shop, the warning alarm came on again. I called Auto Stop, explained that the warning had returned, and was again assured there was nothing wrong. I was told to wait and see if the alarm came on again after driving. Unfortunately, the problem persisted, and I could smell coolant burning on the hot engine. I made it home just before coolant began dripping from the vehicle. At that point, I had the van towed to another repair shop. The second shop found that the primary coolant hose from the reservoir to the engine had been installed incorrectly and was approximately 3/4 inch too short. They also discovered a second hose with a large bulge that was on the verge of rupturing. Both issues required immediate repair. What disappointed me most was not simply that mistakes were made, but that my concerns were repeatedly dismissed. After the warning alarm came on twice within minutes of leaving the shop, I expected a thorough inspection of the cooling system rather than reassurance that nothing was wrong. Because of the improper installation, I incurred more than $500 in additional repair costs, plus the cost of towing the vehicle to another shop. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Auto Stop. The quality of the installation, the lack of careful follow-up, and the poor customer service left me with significant additional expense and inconvenience.

Every place said upwards of 700$. Straightaway motors was the last on my list and they estimated 425$ for the whole service, which ended up costing 415$. They didn't over charge, they didn't lie, they were helpful and friendly and I have now returned to them on multiple occasions, experiencing the same fantastic service EVERY TIME. These mechanics are experienced, friendly, and trustworthy. I feel so lucky to have stumbled on such a wonderful business.

Truly, I think it's because the job done was sub-par and on purpose to get my vulnerable and naive self back into their shop. I have spent $3000+ here and will never get it back unless I get a lawyer which I'm highly considering. When I got my fuel injectors done, I immediately had a problem with the engine starting. I took it in for diagnostics and they charged me 160 dollars for them to just look at it. Nothing seemed wrong to their technicians and I was told that it was fine and would level itself out. It did not. I went back again and they said that I needed a small part that I could replace myself easily. I did and still the problem didn't go away. Dave asked me why I hadn't come back and the reason is because he has led me on and bled me dry every time I just had someone look at it. I really thought that Dave was a nice guy and I trusted him but once I had spent $300+ on diagnostics alone, my faith was shaken. Today, my engine didn't start. I called Dave and he basically said that he didn't want to work with me anymore and GOOD LUCK. I was angry on the phone and I guess they say being nice goes a long way, so this was definitely my bad. I am very disappointed in Dave and the scam he runs as a business and I hope he doesn't do this to his daughter. The calls are recorded and I am talking to a lawyer because the other shop I went to charged me nothing. For such a "good" reputation, B+L auto seems to be a sham and I do not suggest you going in to this shop ever unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket and you want to feed the dollar signs in Dave's eyes. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU RESPECT YOUR MONEY OR TIME.

It wouldn't have been that big of a deal if he didn't already charge me double from his original quote and taken 4 times as long. And then when I took it in to a local shop they told me there was some issues with his wiring to the carb engine components. I had a horrible experience with this shop and am still paying on the loan I had to get for the repair even after selling the truck for $10,000. He might be good for some things like an oil change maybe, but not classic engine swaps!
