We were so impressed with this little place that we actually made a point of returning on our second visit to Ireland. An Corcan's interior is just as cheery and welcoming as its exterior. It almost seems like a little tea house, with lace tablecloths and bud vases on each table. The service is so affable and hospitable; I get the feeling not too many tourists dine at An Corcan, and we were welcomed in the typical Irish manner, with broad smiles, good-natured banter, and plenty of questions about where we were from. The food at An Corcan is surprisingly good, given its off-the-beaten-path location in an off-the-beaten-path town. It has an interesting mix of Irish pub fare (cream of vegetable soup which is lovely, roasts and fish and chips which hit the spot, and the famous Irish "toasted special," in this case a combo of ham, cheese, tomato and onion), and American bar food (chicken wings which we didn't bother to sample, chicken curry salad which was actually a big hit with our group, and burgers). There's something for everyone at An Corcan.
