Two extremely upsetting experiences back-to-back have led me to share my experience. On Friday, January 16, I went in for a bob haircut. I brought reference photos and had a detailed consultation. I was very clear that I did not want a super short bob and specifically asked the stylist to be careful, as a previous haircut elsewhere had been cut too short and I wanted to avoid that again. I also confirmed at the time of booking that the stylist had experience cutting bobs. Unfortunately, I left the salon with a haircut that was much shorter than discussed, the right side was shorter than the left side, the cut was uneven, and poorly finished. It was my birthday and I had dinner plans with my family, and there was absolutely no way I could attend looking the way I left the salon. I was extremely distressed and contacted the salon immediately. I spoke with the manager Jessie, and we agreed that I would return the following day to have it fixed. Once I got home and washed and styled my hair myself, the issues became even more obvious -- the cut was inconsistent, uneven around the perimeter, and had stray pieces sticking out. On Saturday, I returned expecting the cut to be lightly texturized to reduce excess volume in the back and correct the unevenness -- not to be redesigned. Instead, the attempted "fix" by Jessie completely changed the style of my haircut. Hair was cut from the top of my head, altering the structure entirely and creating a visible gap/"hole" where I part my hair, something that did not exist after my appointment on Friday. The result is no longer a bob and looks nothing like what I originally requested. I am now left with a haircut reminiscent of the late 1990s/early 2000s, which is not my style at all. No refund was offered, nor did I ask for one at the time. I did not fully realize how severe the damage was until I got in my car and truly saw how much the style had been altered. At that point, I was once again in tears. Please refer to the photos to fully understand the outcome. I am now having to contact my former hairstylist in Coral Gables -- miles away -- to assess the damage and create a plan to fix it. At this point, I honestly don't know what to do. My hair is very important to me, and this look is not only terrible, but it is also not a style I would ever choose for myself. I am frustrated beyond belief. This is not an easy fix -- time will be my only real solution as my hair grows out. Unfortunately, the back was cut extremely short and will likely take 5-6 months to grow enough to match the rest of my hair. This has been truly upsetting. I chose Black Sheep Salon because I recently moved to the area and, based on reviews, it appeared comparable to the salon I trusted back home. I gave the salon an opportunity to make things right, but the second visit made the situation significantly worse. Not sure of my opinion here yet. I had one great cut and color, then the next visit my artist was switched up without telling me and they had me booked for the wrong service (a hair style instead of a wash and cut). They luckily were able to give me the cut I scheduled, but told me if it was still too long then I'd have to come back to get it shorter next time. That didn't sit right with me. I came for a cut but if it's not to my liking you want me to come back another time to have it done the way I want? What? Just weird. Unfortunately we did not have a good experience here. The stylist and manager need to work on business etiquette when speaking with customers. I attempted to speak to the manager, my daughter cancelled an appointment 23 hours in advance to fix an issue with her hair. The manager proceeded to tell me the stylist was frustrated with the cancellation and would have a hard time rescheduling. This salon can only really do ashy blonde highlights and beach waves or blow out. If you're looking for literally any other style of haircut you probably need to keep looking. If you're looking for an alternative or creative cut u need to keep looking. I've gotten my bangs cut twice here and each time I've been disappointed. Madeline is a good stylist I can tell she's skilled at haircutting but she doesn't know how to move away from ashy blonde highlight beach waves kind of vibe and so all my haircuts with her have channelled a style language that does not reflect me. I don't think this salon can adapt to different client needs. Not to mention I gave her a reference picture and she never referenced the picture, my hair looks nothing like what I showed her. I asked to keep my long hair and I came home and actually cried after realizing 3-4 inches had been cut off. I asked for my side bang to be trimmed and weight taken off the top and then Madeline gives me some super short forehead bangs that don't lay flat and then blow dried them so when I left they were just sticking off my head too short to have any flow. It wasn't a BAD hair cut per say but it wasn't what I wanted, there's no style my hair is so boring and short and looks like a mid length cut that grew out for a few months. I think Madeline's a great stylist for other clients and she was so helpful with squeezing my appointment in but she can't provide me with the service I want. I think this salon only serves one kind of client so if you're looking for anything unique or anything with lots of layers and bangs and funk then this is not the place. read more

I had an extremely upsetting experience at Black Sheep Salon last Thursday with a stylist named Jessie, who was highly recommended for her blonde, curly hair, and blowout skills. I came in hopeful and prepared -- I even brought a reference photo from 2019 when Avant Garde in Coral Gables gave me the exact look I wanted: a soft, bright balayage to blonde with a smooth, healthy finish. What I left with was completely opposite -- severe damage, a botched color, and a $614 bill for what has now become a major hair correction project. Jessie left bleach on my hair for over three hours. When it was time to rinse, my hair was so tangled and matted it felt like a cobweb. She had to call the front desk assistant not once, but twice, to help detangle -- which just meant two people ripping through my hair. At one point, I even heard the assistant ask with concern, "What did you do to her?!" And a nearby stylist laughed, which made the situation even more humiliating. There was no offer of a deep conditioning treatment or any solution to the clear damage that had been done. Once back at the chair, I finally saw myself -- my hair looked dark, dull, and not blonde at all. Then came the blowout, and it was clear Jessie didn't understand curly hair. She started drying it from far away, then aggressively sectioned and ripped through my curls. When she reached for a curling iron, I had to stop her. After I got home and looked at my hair, I was devastated. The color was an odd mix of white patches and excess brown, giving me a silver-gray tone that completely ages me. It looks nothing like what I requested. I've been wearing hats ever since -- I can't bring myself to go out confidently with my hair in this condition. I cried the entire drive home and for three days afterward. I now have an emergency repair appointment at Avant Garde, where I should have gone from the start. I reached out to the salon after the appointment, explaining the damage and how completely unfair it is to charge $614 for something so far from what I asked for -- and which caused actual harm. Jessie refused to take accountability. She didn't acknowledge the damage, and her only solution was to have me come back in. That will never happen. I don't trust her with my hair again, and frankly, the lack of responsibility makes things worse. I never expected to leave a negative review, but this experience was unacceptable. If you have curly hair, if you're going blonde, or if you care about the health of your hair -- please go somewhere else. I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone. Your comment implying my hair hadn't been "professionally treated in years" is both false and insulting. My hair was healthy and intact when I arrived -- now it's brittle, breaking, and completely fried. I'm not new to salon treatments, and I know the difference between teasing for blending and matted clumps of bleach-damaged hair that required two people to rip through. The fact that your stylist needed help twice to detangle my hair says everything. Your own assistant asked, "What did you do to her?" -- and a nearby stylist laughed. That's not "professionalism," and it certainly wasn't taken out of context. It was humiliating. And no -- I wasn't just "unhappy with the tone." The end result was white in places, brown in others, and created a gray, aging effect that I never asked for. This was not a matter of slight dissatisfaction -- this was a complete failure in both technique and care. I came in asking for blonde balayage with a healthy, smooth finish. I left with damaged, unevenly toned, matted hair and no genuine solution offered beyond "come back so we can fix it." After this traumatic experience, there was no way I'd let that stylist touch my hair again. You may want to stand by your team, but as a paying client, I expected better. A $614 charge for a result that caused me days of tears and now requires costly repair from a real professional at Avant Garde is unacceptable. Owning mistakes is part of being a reputable business -- not gaslighting clients who clearly suffered from poor service. First lemmi just say I used to be scared of salons as I've had a lot of bad chops. Black sheep however changed that for me. Black sheep is hands down the best hair salon I have been too. The staff is overwhelmingly friendly, the vibe of the store is cool too. I go to Amanda to get my hair coloring/ cuts, and she nails it each time. Don't test positive for covid the day of your appointment and be a good person by showing up (masked) to see how they want to handle the situation. I'll tell you how they handled it. They charged ME bc the stylist canceled. I showed up. I totally understand why he canceled, but I did not cancel. You'd think they'd waive that charge since nothing in their policy says anything about the stylist canceling on you, only if the client cancels. Again, I did not cancel. I understand his time is valuable, and so is mine, but I went out of my way to let him know. This what you get for being a decent person. Obviously, my answer to both questions is a resounding, No ! My symptoms started 6 days prior to my appointment. Per CDC, you can leave home after 5 days if you feel fine. Decided to try Black Sheep Salon and did not leave disappointed at all! Super clean and friendly staff. I especially enjoyed the 2005 throwback hip-hop playlist they had going on! My mother absolutely loved her haircut and the stylist really worked with her to find the best shape for her face. I had two bad experiences trying get highlights in California during COVID, but Angie did an amazing job on my hair! Not only was the brassy color gone, but it even seemed to get lighter and lighter days after leaving the salon. I'm already ready to book my next appointment! Went in for a simple haircut , nothing new not rocket science. Had an apprentice , which was ok to me I figured Black Sheep would be approving who was working with them. It was my first visit & it looked pretty nice , the front desk guy was welcoming. Then I met the girl who was going to give me my cut. I had a coupon for first timers which was a good deal. She asked what I wanted I had a few pics . As she was working I asked if she could show me before stopping as I might want to go shorter ok. She advised me she only CUTS ONCE, that would be considered 2 haircuts? I guess if you stop a min that counts toward another cut ? Weird never had been told that. I figured she didn't want to take any more time then she had to after she knew I had a coupon .( and she advised me of her prices started out at 55 & up. ) I thought this girl is really having a bad day, perhaps her 12 inch heels in those boots weren't helping her. This place could be worth its weight if they were more professional about their appointments. Booking was annoying due to all the forms you have to fill out, worst than a doctors office. I drive 45 minutes to get to my appointment and they declined my appointment 8 minutes before my arrival, only ten minutes before my appointment. No empathy, no understanding, no accommodation for their lack of planning. However if you are late, have to cancel less than 24hours in advance, or no show they will charge you the amount of your service. So disappointed, as a mother it's so hard to even find the time to treat yourself and you go through all these hoops just to make time for a hair appointment once a year, for me it's been almost two years, and look no empathy for my time or effort that went into this. All that, plus their price tag is through the roof, and the stylist would have need 4-5 hours to do my highlights. Insane. read more

Ive NEVER had a problem doing my hair that I've had blonde for over 6 years. it got completely ruined just for me to have to go somewhere else for them to fix it and spend MORE money. Blonde isn't cheap either. What hair stylist leaves roots like that? after my hair got botched ive received feedback from so many people on how they also got hair fried/or ruined such as mine. Do not recommend if you want beautiful blonde. Might I add the amount of gossiping I heard, and feeling completely out of place and uncomfortable. If could rate this salon zero stars, I would. I was SO looking forward to my 12:15 appt. I arrived around 1205 and was told that my stylist was running a little behind. My daughter had an appointment scheduled for a haircut at 12:45 and I was told that my Silas will be ready around that time. We were fine with that, we went and did a little shopping and then came back to the salon at 12:45. My daughter was taken back pretty much right on time that my Silas still wasn't ready. Finally, at nearly 130, an hour and 15 minutes past my scheduled appointment time, I finally got out and started taking the cape and towel off that they had put on at least 30 minutes before. The Silas thin came over and said she was ready to begin, but at that point, I knew that I was not going to have time to do the full foils that my appointment has been scheduled for that day, as I had another appointment already scheduled for later in the day. The girl at the front desk initially told me that I may be charged a no-show fee due to the fact that I was not staying for my appointment. However, once I told them how unfair that was, they did agree that I would not , Come for my appointment and was not the reason that the appointment was not scheduled. My daughter, his appointment has started on time, at 12:45, was not finished until 2 o'clock. I had no idea why it was taking over an hour for a simple haircut. As it turns out, they did some sort of thermal treatment on my teenage daughter without discussing it with me first. She also says that no one made her aware or they were doing any sort of treatment. She thought she was there for a simple haircut. You would think that because of my terrible experience of not being able to even get my hair done as I had expected, I was going to do today, plus the fact that I am telling them that no one made us aware of this thermal treatment, perhaps some sort of concession would have been made for that. But nothing at all was offered. I had been so looking forward to this day because this was a treat for myself for my birthday. It's now been totally ruined. I had been at this salon before and had a wonderful experience with Ali. I would highly recommend Ali as an individual stylist. Came here as a new client for a color and cut. I showed the stylist pictures and said I wanted to lighten my hair up with balayage and keep my natural root showing. This first picture is what I left with. There were dark pieces of hair left with no color and the stylist missed some spots. My hair was also extremely brassy. This was certainly not balayage even though that's what I was charged for. The stylist offered to fix my hair the next day so I went and she put in even more traditional highlights so now my hair was a flat, platinum blonde. It was also damaged from the extra amount of bleach put in. Not at all what I asked for. I went to another salon to get a color correction and it was further pointed out how bad of a job was done. The second picture of the block of color missing from my hair is after my second trip when she "fixed" my hair. I brought this up to the salon owner and got a reply that the stylist "did her best". I thought I was going to a professional salon and would end up with something close to what I asked for, not the ridiculous butterfly pattern highlights I got. If that was her best then that needs to be communicated by labeling her as a junior stylist and charging accordingly. The owner refused to give me even a partial refund for the "balayage" I paid for because a week had passed before I brought up my hair the second time. Call me crazy but I did not want to go back to the same salon a third time in a week to further damage my hair and end up with something worse again. I was instead offered a hair treatment, which was totally missing the point--I asked to be remedied from the horrendous job that was done for my hair, I wasn't looking for a freebie hair treatment. It seems like this has happened before with another stylist based on the other comments and pictures posted here. Another hair stylist that I showed these pictures to was convinced that the pictures these stylists advertise on social media as their own are either photoshopped or done by someone else because there is no way the pictures posted are done by the same person who did my hair.
