Visited for lunch on a weekday. Not bad for a pub style menu. Lot of selection. They offer a variety of daily special/features. Our sever was prompt to say hello and get our service going. I enjoyed a cold draft beer and ordered the monte cristo sandwich. My company ordered the daily soup feature which was in his words "delicious". I want to give this pub 5 stars. The staff is friendly, the prices are exquisite, and the selection of beer, wine, and all of their other drinks is commendable. The issue is with the food. If this pub would focus on less menu items, what a difference that could potentially make. The vibe in the pub itself is phenomenal. Sadly, the food is not reflecting that. I think it's commendable that the chefs would like to successfully execute a huge menu with a lot of options. I don't think this is the right approach, though. The Black Sheep would benefit greatly by making a few dishes well, as opposed to trying to put together many dishes that don't deliver. With each dish, the question asked ought to be: could the taste, presentation, and originality of these dishes we send out be improved? And if so, how? All that said, I can see that a lot of people enjoy the Black Sheep pub. The vibe is always welcoming and a lot of fun. The food could be a lot better though. read more

Been coming here for many years, Go between 3-6 p.m. to take advantage of happy hour prices and special menus selections, Sometimes Nothing appeals to us on the happy hour food menu, but my wife always enjoys the cheap beer price on her Sin City brew. one of her favorites is the Portobella burger and and the pub fries. I like the 'Shrimp Bucket.' The shrimp on the top of the bucket are delish, but it is really a bucket-o-fries. WAY more than anyone could/should eat. A little loud, but it is a pub... We live nearby so when the the pub upgraded from the old rundown place across the street we were so happy. Great meals at good value for quite some time. Fast forward to the last couple of years, and I have not seen a menu change or vegetarian options on the special board....ever. Constantly changing staff makes us wonder what is happening behind the scenes. Clearly it is the only place to go in our area after 5 pm, except for Humble Roots on weekends now thank goodness, but that is only a matter of time till someone with updated menus and rotating beer taps comes along. Great prices, consistent, great food, friendly staff, wicked atmosphere and newly renovated. A+, definitely the best pub in Maple Ridge. Have quite a few taps but I'd like to see them rotated once in a while. It's always busy but it doesn't affect the service and there is plenty of seating. read more

Poor service, tasteless steak, overcharged for refill on soda water. We were a large crowd, but even given that, it took too long to be served. I was charged $2.70 each for two soda waters. I asked if the second one was the same price. The waitress said, "Yes. They're the same price." I went to the front and complained to management that they should inform customers that a second soda water is the same price. She said, "It's not. It's 99 cents for the second." The waitress came over and said she was thinking about something else when I asked her about the price of the soda water. I said, "You clearly said they're the same price." She gave me a loonie, which didn't even cover the price difference. That's just bad service. Also, when we got our bill, everything was mixed up. I was charged for a Bud that I didn't order. Someone else had my soda water. No one had the right drinks. read more

Always have a good meal here. The calamari can be hit or miss sometimes though. The service is always great and love the drink specials. We have lived and visited the blacksheep pub for over 25 years probably frequenting at least 3 times a month or more.The last few times we have visited the flies inside are crazy .Our last visit this week we ordered our food but had to send 2 meals back twice as flies landed in our food.We spent the entire time eating and swatting flies away.It makes me wonder how many flies are on our food in the kitchen.At this point I just dont know if we can eat there anymore read more

This is the second time that we walked out because we could not get any service. Sunday morning at 11 Am when the PUB opened not very many people sat ourselves in the main section and sat their and watched servers walk by talking to each other, looking for tables but no one even looked our way. Two men came in about ten minutes after us, sat down at the table next to us, and with in 30 sec one of the servers who walked by us 4 or 5 times came right to them and started to talk to them, that finished us 15 min and no one came to our table. My husband and I have been coming to this place for a while now, and we always enjoy our time. We were sad to hear that one of our favourite servers had left the company a couple months ago. Caitlin was amazing she was extremely focused on customer satisfaction and was always looking to succeed. We have heard she has moved over to Moxie's so we stopped by for a visit! We had built a strong bond with Caitlin over the time she had been there and it is very sad news to hear her go! Delicious food, comfy surroundings, and great service! There's a reason the parking lot is full most nights. The food is plentiful and with lots of diverse options. My parents used to go here when it was in the old location when they were young. Now it's bigger and more modern, but still with that local watering hole vibe. Definitely check it out! read more

I am a local. This is one of my favourite places to go. Everything is well priced and the portion sizes are very generous. The prawns are awesome And are a really good special. I have also eaten many of the items on the menu and they have all been excellent. The service there has always been consistently good and I have never had a bill that was incorrect. I really like this place I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to any of my friends or anyone who wants good value for money. read more

Food is good however I am very disappointed in the ownership. Spoke to our favourite waitress the other day and was told she was leaving in two weeks due to management changing dress code. All waitresses are told they must wear short black dresses no longer then half their thigh as well as they are given an option to get breast implants to which the owner will pay for in an interest free loan. I believe this type of management is disgusting and degrading to women our waitress is leaving because she does not want to wear slutty clothing. She was told if she didn't they would fire her. It's a shame the food is good but I am no longer going here. Terrible read more

Not sure I would recommend this place for food. When I visit the Black Sheep, it's usually just for a few drinks with friends and maybe some fries to share. Not to mention, I have found hair in my food during a couple of visits. In terms of the "nightlife" atmosphere, it's no where to party, but a decent place to meet a friend for a drink after work on a weeknight or weekend. I haven't had problems with the service, it had been fairly quick and friendly enough, however not anything outstanding. I will continue to come back here for drinks on occasion, but wouldn't say it is a place I would strongly recommend. read more

I have been going to the Black Shee pub for probably 5+ years now and it is an will always be my favorite pub. I feel that too often the places that people enjoy the most don't get enough credit, and people are so quick to take the effort to write a review if it is a bad one, so I just wanted to say thank you for everything over the years. There is a reason why it is consistently ranked number one in Maple Ridge every year. The price is ridiculously good, I can't get a full meal that cheap even at Mcdonalds! The girls are all well trained, efficient, and friendly - many of them have been there for years and they always make an effort to remember all the regular customers names (even the new young girls which is appreciated). It is off the beaten track, in the "boonies" some people say, but it is well worth it if you are in the Maple Ridge area or camping at Golden Ears. Thanks again!
