We were passing through Princeton at lunch time and were hungry. We found Black Patch Grille via Yelp and thought it sounded like our best option in the area--and I'm glad that we chose to stop and give them a try! I didn't see a private lot but street parking is plentiful (and free!). The inside atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, very much an old-school diner sort of ethos. My ONLY complaint is that once seated I noticed my booth seat was a bit springy and worn down--felt like it had broken at some point, but I switched to the same side of the table as my wife and it was perfect. Our server was super friendly and helpful. I ordered the catfish (fried) sandwich and a side of the Guinness Mac and Cheese. The fish was fried perfectly on a warm hoagie with thick bread and butter pickles, onions, and tartar sauce. Really good. The mac and cheese was superb, cheesy and perfect texture with some additonal sharp cheddar on top which melted as I ate it. My wife had the black bean burger and loved it, it was pretty good too based on my bite. Held together really well for a bean based patty. She opted for the sweet potato fries as her side, and I tried those as well (really good--spiced just right with a dash of salt, perfectly crispy). We had room for dessert, I opted for the fudge pie which was the highlight of my meal. Warm, gooey fudge pie! She had the cheesecake and enjoyed it. Looks as if they have a variety of very affordable cocktails and beer is very fairly priced ($3-$5 for all?). I had a bottle of Harps since it was cool to spot Irish beers as options in Princeton KY (the restaurant story on the menu reveals that one of the owners is Irish, aha!). A draft would have been cool but hey, one can't be too picky. If I lived in the area this would be a regular stop. If I'm passing through at dinner time in the future I'll be back to try the bangers and mash or shepherd's pie, for sure.

This little gem in downtown Princeton is worth the detour off the interstate. We stopped here for lunch after a visit to the Kentucky State Penitentiary. The atmosphere was nice--decorated for St. Patty's day, complete with traditional Irish music. The burger of the day was made with Guiness, and my companion enjoyed it. I had the BLT and fries, and I was not disappointed. The bread was just white bread, but seemed fresh-baked. (It definitely wasn't just Wonder bread!) The wait staff was pleasant and attentive. This could easily become my go-to for lunch when I'm in the area.

Service is very professional and attentive. The Irish burger is to die for! Hand formed fresh beef seasoned to OMG perfection! Spinach salad is delish! I got the raspberry vinaigrette on the servers recommendation and she didn't steer me wrong. Paired with the mandarin oranges, pecans and blue cheese - yum! We look forward to coming back for dinner!

Love the decor and the atmosphere. Wonderful homemade soups and salads. Don't miss the cheeseburger sliders.

My experience here was a rare score without first consulting Yelp. After a long Labor Day weekend in western Kentucky, we were just driving through and stumbled across this gem at lunch time. It's smack in middle of downtown, on the corner of Main Street, across the street from the courthouse. We sat in the window area, so that we could watch our truck, since we had to leave it running for the dogs. I ordered the house salad and loaded fries. The fries arrived shortly before the rest of our lunch. They were a little short on cheese, but that didn't matter, since we didn't finish everything anyways. The house salad was pretty big, not your average side salad. It came with cherry tomatoes, thick cucumbers, what seemed like home made croutons... you get the point, I loved the salad. My husband got the Night Rider burger, without the fried egg. He raved about it being perfectly cooked, on ciabatta bread, with a perfect amount of pimento cheese. He raved about it so much, that I couldn't resist taking a bite too. As his side, he got the broccoli cheese soup. Another slam dunk, perfected item. Don't pass this place up!

Stopped in after looking for a place to lunch on the way to Memphis. Not too far off of the highway in the charming Old Town. Street parking was plentiful on Thursday afternoon and man is this place amazing. Not wanting to eat to heavy for our continued road trip my Mom and I split the Irish burger and got side salads. The burger was juicy and flavorful with bacon, sautéed onions in Guinness and porter Irish cheddar. Wowza. I cannot put into words how good the burger was. Since splitting the burger we opted for a slice of fudge pie for dessert. Yum! So good! Truly a hidden gem!

Hey! This is a great spot in what might otherwise be a pretty dead little town! Princeton just got a bit cooler in my eyes. In a downtown storefront, they have put in a cute little restaurant. I'm not sure if it trying to be bar & grill, farm to table, country cookin' or what, but it's a welcome meal. I had a fried bologna sandwich, which is something that I must order when it's on the menu. This one, though, wasn't anything special. It was on fairly dry Texas Toast. I asked for a side of mayo, which helped. It needed some barbecue sauce, or maybe some cole slaw piled on top. I also had some pasta salad that was just average. The beer selection was good, even though I didn't have any. Service was outstanding, price was outstanding, and the decor/environment was nice. It was a good spot, I'd like to get back to it and try some of the other options.

Biscuits & gravy- biscuits come w/ omelets- the side of gravy costs $1.00

Visited on Saturday around 10:45 am. They open at 7 am and were out of a lot of the breakfast items- no fruit, no hashbrown casserole and so on so get here early if that's what you want. We were actually given lunch menus when we arrived but it wasn't even 11 yet so that should have been a sign esp. when the server went to ask to see if we could still order breakfast. We were seated in the back in a booth- it was odd that we were placed there as there was no one in the main dining area- odd. Our server was friendly yet a bit scattered & confused as to what was and what wasn't available. I liked my blueberry pancakes served w/ sugar free syrup and lemon wedges per my request. They were thick and loaded w/ blueberries. The powdered sugar was a nice touch. If I were to go back, I would try one of there other pancake options. Now, don't get it twisted- they aren't IHOP pancakes which I've yet to find any place that can top those delicious cakes... sigh.... My boyfriend said the biscuits were good but felt that the gravy was a generic country gravy as it didn't taste homemade. He stated he would pass on ordering their omelet again but added that the sausage was good. Overall, he has dined there before for lunch and said that it is good but that breakfast disappointed him. Breakfast totaled $15.00 before tax so cost wise- it was reasonable for two ppl. Going to Muddy Pigs the next time we are in Princeton and wanting breakfast.

Not wanting to hit a chain or fast food and after finding some good reviews of the food on here we made the 7 minute detour off the interstate to Loopy Larry's. It's a small but brightly decorated place with a fee tables & countertop seating against the walls there are also a few tables outside. Walk up to the counter & the menu is on the wall behind it. Any specials are on counter where you place your order. I had initially came here wanting a salad but when I saw the special was a Cuban I deviated that direction. Wife got the half salad half sandwich special. Cuban was heavy & delicious. Loaded with all kinds of meaty and saucy goodness. Definitely not what I can here for but soooo good. My wife had a half chick bahn mi & a half chefs salad. I tried both & they were also very good. You get your moneys worth here & the staff were all very nice & helpful. Not sure I'll be coming through anytime in the future but if I do I hope they are there still.
