    Bacon and cheese potato pierogi

As we were running errands Good Friday, we decided to take a break and stop by for an early lunch. Right on the corner with the big overhead sign, brick facade and unassuming interior decorated for food service not to impress the public. The place doesn't have much ambiance but all I had to do was look behind the counter and notice a large working table filled with homemade specialty foods and three busy woman scurrying and weaving about the space, taking calls, preparing entrees and cleaning up after diners. I asked for a menu and the owner mentioned many things were sold out and just ask her for something to check availability. I rattled off schnitzel, chicken noodle soup, chicken paprikas, halupki, anything HOT! And then we sat at this lovely pastel plaid covered table and started to chat with family at adjacent table. (kids, Landon and Maddi!) They were eating and chatting and offering comments on certain dishes. We weren't expecting much and so, the dishes were presented en masse. Chicken schnitzel with the butteriest mashed potatoes EVER. An accompanying plate of garlic buttered rye, a side of potato salad with another side of beet salad. All homemade and yummy! My hubs ordered chicken paprikas of buttered egg noodles topped with chunks of chicken. He loved every bite, especially the remaining red sauce laying at the bottom of the plate. One quart of freshly made chicken noodle soup to go and we were delighted to sit and partake in such a delicious lunch.

Russian panini. And small Perogi side. Plenty of tasty flavors.

Absolutely a pure lunch place in amongst former Mill homes. Russian panini was juicy and tender. Perogies... yes please. Sprinkle of dill and green onions that was worth the extra 10 minute wait.

If you are in the mood for outstanding ethnic food, there is no place better than Black Forest Deli. I adore their perogis--and everytime I go there I am tempted by their Chicken Schnitzel. Everything is fresh and homemade! It is also located in a lovely neighborhood--just around the corner from the Rose Garden. You will not regret stopping here!

Russian/Ukrainian deli/sandwich shop that I wish I discovered sooner. The sandwiches and wraps are made super fresh and packed with whatever delectable meats, cheeses, and toppings you order. They are served with pickles and their homemade macaroni salad which is out of this world. Hands down, best I ever had! I can't wait to come back for lunch!

Our meal of snitzel, pierogis, soup, salad, and toast.

We visited this place for lunch and had a great first experience. The deli was recommended to us by a friend for its Ukrainian and Russian food. The deli is located in a residential neighborhood in Bethlehem and is in an old corner shop/ deli. We easily found street parking. The storefront is very welcoming and so is the staff. Annie greeted us and had us sit any where we liked. She answered our many questions and helped us with our orders. We ordered the snitzel which also came with mashed potatoes and a plate of beet salad, potato salad, farmer's cheese and eggplant spread on toast, the 3 soup appetizer (pickle, chicken noodle, and pelmeni), and a plate of 10 pierogis (spinach and potato-cheese). It was great trying the different foods and they were well flavored. This was a lot of food and we only ate maybe half! We took the rest home. Annie and Milana were very welcoming and we enjoyed talking with them. We definitely plan on returning! The deli appears to be open for breakfast and lunch, but does advertise a special dinner meal. They also have specials every day that they're open.

    Borsch, top notch.

Russian cuisine in west Bethlehem! Borsch was none other than amazing! Cherry perogies were delicious. Service was excellent and these people take pride in their business and their food. All items were homemade. If you had a Russian grandmother, this is the kind of stuff she would be making. I can't wait to go back! Repeat trips here, and always top notch. The homemade GingerTumeric tea is so refreshing, and good for you.

A real find. Family ran and real personal. Totally understand social media, which is amazing for geeks like me. Had the Arzunian Panini and Macaroni salad. SOLID.. Macaroni salad is something else.

    Home made pierogies.

Excellent, tiny little deli big on flavor and Russian specialties including beet soup, and variety of home made pierogies that are delicate and flavorful. A must try. The interior may be sparse, but the staff and owner are warm as ever.

Really good sandwiches and the service is very good. Everything is homemade and fresh. Small drink selection is the only real drawback.

Imagine our surprise, that while in town for business, and with time to kill before an art exhibition, we discovered an Uzbeki restaurant. Immediately upon entering, we were greeted and led to a large comfortable booth in the back of the restaurant. The lighting was warm, the walls were adorned with beautiful rugs, and the customers' spirits were high. Each table had been pre-set with the resutarant's lovely plates and crystal drinkware. Given that this was our first time at an Uzbeki eatery, we asked our server for some suggestions. Upon doing so, she then asked us if we prefer meat or fish. After perusing the menu a bit more and taking her suggestions into consideration, we had decided to order a wide array of sorts, opting for the pickled herring and potato appetizer, some Tandoori Samsas, a bowl of the Kharcho soup, and an order of the Guyru Dumplings. Our dishes were brought out promptly and our server made sure to check on us periodically throughout our meal, at one point even offering to allow the kitchen to split some of our dishes up for us to make it easier to share with one another. The pallet of flavors we were presented with was colored and wonderful; the pickled hairing playing a perfect duet with the hearty roasted potatoes, pairing well balanced acidity and perfectly crisp potatoey goodness, the kharcho simultaneously lightly spicy and fully refershing with that dill coming throough alongside juiicy chunks of lamb, and the the delectable dumplings, swimming in a flavorful bath of broth and sour cream. As we were nearing fullness, we realized we had forgotten to add one more piece to this meal...the dessert! After this realization, we decided to share a piece of wonderfully sticky Phaklava, adorned with and generously filled with walnuts and golden raisans. Suzani Restaurant is not to be missed. It is a dining experience that makes me feel like you've been invited into someone's home, but also that you are sitting down for a royal banquet. Be sure to check it out if you ever find yourself in the area. 5/5 stars

You would think that a restaurant is just about food, but this is so much more. This place is a truly fun night out. In terms of food, we ordered a banquet, which means a prix-fix dinner with at least ten different varieties of plated dishes plus a couple of deserts. It's authentic, homemade Ukrainian food, from meat and fish to an assortment of side garnishments which will leave you asking "what is that?" while you answer "I don't care, it's delicious!" The staff was beyond attentive, they were changing our plates every fifteen minutes, refilling our drinks and bringing out the next item in a never-ending parade of food. But eating is not the main event, entertainment is. They have a good sized dancefloor and a couple of DJ/singers that delighted us with music from around the world. Everything from Latin to Italian to US, the beats covered the world. After midnight the music took a short break and we went back to eat, again. I mean, this was not the night to lose weight! Suddenly, they brought out a belly dancer (like I said, entertainment). She and her snake, yes a real one, along with a balancing act of swords and candles certainly added another layer of fun. The whole experience was unique, fun, and most important - unforgettable.
