Abysmal customer service. Cold, rude, and unprofessional. They don't answer the phone, and won't discuss anything over the phone. They force you to text everything in true Gen Z fashion. Everything is by appointment and pricing is inflated. You have to *buy* time at the jewelry counter to browse. You can't make an appointment and expect to browse for jewelry, you need to make a browsing appointment. I paid $250 dollars for my 9 year old daughter's ear lobe piercings, and the experience has been beyond subpar. They take zero responsibility for the fact that two days after her post change, her right lobe is showing signs of infection. Instead, they are blaming me repeatedly for my use of bio-active silver hydrosol which cleared up completely the signs of infection it showed a month ago. Her ear was fine when she came in for the post change. After their scolding, I stopped the silver. Now, two days after the post change, with zero silver applied, her ear is showing signs of infection and they are saying, despite their touted combined decades of wound care experience, they have no idea what's going on, but it's probably my fault and definitely not their fault even though the only difference between her healthy ear and infected one, is a post change at their facility. Rude, unprofessional, expensive, and zero compassion. Three days later, I've changed her irritated ear jewelry on my own back to the original barbell, washed her piercing with tattoo goo piercing soap, drained the inflammation from her earlobe, and applied hot compresses and SILVER SULFADIAZINE cream per a doctor's medical recommendation and it's looking 10,000 times better, no thanks whatsoever to the she/hers @ Black Diamond Piercing. read more

Despite my hopes for a precise and well-executed piercing, the outcome was far from satisfactory. The piercer seemed rushed and lacked attention to detail, resulting in an uneven and off-center piercing. As a result, I'm left with a piercing that doesn't meet my expectations and detracts from my overall appearance. After coming back a few days later to buy Jewelry and have a "check up," and showing that the piercing had shifted and was now leaning on the middle one, throughout the process, communication was lacking. The piercer failed to provide clear explanations or guidance, leaving me feeling unsure and uneasy. I expected better communication, but unfortunately, this was not the case. I only got the answer, " I am not sure why it is doing that." (And you call yourself a professional piercer) Clear communication is essential to ensure customer comfort and satisfaction, and it was sorely lacking during my visit. In summary, my experience at Black Diamond was deeply disappointing. The subpar outcome of the piercing has left me feeling regretful of my decision to visit this establishment. So here's a little background: I got my lower lobes piercings at a doctor's place with punch guns. I've never had a legit piercing with nails and an actual choice of jewelry. So here's what I thought of my first actual legit piercing experience: AMAZING. I really like everything about Black Diamond--the place itself, the jewelry, the cleanliness of the piercing rooms, the immense work into keeping everything sterile, and (most importantly) the staff. Refer back to the background to find the source of my anxiety when I came here to get a double forward helix. I was close to walking away from the door before I walked in, but the second I entered Black Diamond's shop I was welcomed kindly and signed in. Tablets for signing a release form, numerous couches and seats to wait, cases of shiny jewels to put in wherever you get pierced--Black Diamond has it all. I had my double helix done by Vikki, who was absolutely wonderful. I, of course, had to have two piercings done, so I wasn't exactly psyched for two needles, but Vikki made it a fantastic and easy experience. She explained everything and took her time, putting marks where the piercings would go and showing me before I laid down to have it done. She was also incredibly patient with me as I asked an endless array of questions. It's clear in a heartbeat the staff at Black Diamond knows exactly what they're doing. They know precisely how to pierce, how to take care of piercings, and how to manage their customers well and as efficiently as possible. My only tiff--if any at all--is the potential wait time on Saturdays. It is a popular and busy place (obviously--you'll see when you go in), so be patient waiting or schedule an appointment ahead of time. I believe I waited about an hour and a half after all prep work was done (signing in, picking out the jewelry that will go in, paying). I didn't mind and caught up on emails and socialized with other people waiting. Prices here can be slightly higher, but really the quality and experienced piercing, the cleanliness, and the service make it absolutely worth every penny. Last January I received a cartilage piercing then in April I received a second cartilage piercing in the same ear. Within days of the second piercing the original piercings earring fell out. I had to go back to West Hartford just to have the earrings put back in. Black Diamonds pricing is outrageous!! You do not have the opportunity to shop and get the pricing on any jewelry. So once you pick out the piece you want they ring it up and that's where the crazy pricing comes in. Over $300. For a hole in your ear with a piece of jewelry that falls out. Only for a couple months later to go back and want the same piece in the second hole. ( only because I wanted to have matching earrings) Well fast forward both holes have closed. I paid for over priced jewelry that are not in anyway easy to put in forget about getting the earrings in by yourself. Today I went to a different place to have them redone and to my surprise it was reasonably priced and so comfortable. Black Diamond as of last April is still practicing social distancing and still wearing masks. You cannot go in till the exact time of your appointment. This means you cannot shop or ask about their jewelry. You walk in , you pay, you leave, and you've been ripped off! Very interesting place for people watching in this post-apocalyptic Covid era, that's for sure. The lady at the counter, who I think may have been the owner, was kind of nice but snapped at me when I pointed at my ear to indicate where I wanted pierced. She also didn't seem too enthused to show me the jewelry selection. The guy who pierced me, Rob, and her seemed to have major tension. She would ask him a question and he would dismiss her, "What's the issue?" Not very professional, especially in front of a customer who already felt uncomfortable being made to stand at the back of the store for social distancing. Rob himself was meh...wouldn't make eye contact or even say hello at the front, but attitude changed when we got to the back (get that tip!). I tried making small talk with him, and he was happy to chat but said a few things about "entitled" people that was a bit off-putting. The only reason I give the extra star was because he checked to see if one of my older piercings was still open. I didn't have an appointment (which is required! so make one if you are going!) but they listened to my tears and were so caring that they allowed me to come in anyway and helped me with my nose ring. I got my nipples pierced here, and I regret not going to a better place with friendlier staff. They were no incompetent, but holy moly they were cold, unkind, and make me feel like I was an intruder. Before we began they told me to wait in a separate room where I stood for around 20 mins. It was post-COVID so I understand the safety measures. However, while I walked around the room, waiting for my piercer to get prepped, I was reprimanded for I guess not standing still? Looking at pictures? I was following all their COVID guidelines (which I thoroughly agree with), but why the meanness? I had been nothing but friendly and agreeable to their requests. I was asked to go to the counter to pick out my jewelry. They just stared at me. I picked some basic rods (frankly, they were very overpriced), and paid for them, and the women had the balls to ask if I wanted to tip her. For what?? Staring at me as I walked around the case? She was VERY put off when I said no, snatching the card reader away after I was finished. I was finally told to follow the arrows to my piercer's room. I was asked to remove my top, no "hello, how are ya", no gown to cover myself until the piercer came over. Nope. My gynecological visits are warmer than this place. Just top off, tits out while she awkwardly stared at me from across the room for roughly 5 mins before walking over to me. I was DEEPLY uncomfortable. She didn't say anything to me, no talk, no smiles, all business. It was so weird. I tried joking, tried to start any conversation to alleviate my discomfort and the palpable awkwardness, and she didn't say a word just "Ok, lay here" or "Are you ready?". When the piercing was complete, she gave me the run down of aftercare, then asked me to leave. Follow the arrows and get out of here, basically. I left this place in tears. I'll give 2 stars because the piercers I've had have pierced my ears correctly. Great job, I guess. Low bar for me, sky's the limit for them, it seems. I would say piercing my ear correctly is to be expected. This establishment's workers make it seem like you are wasting their time, and it's front staff in particular, is incredibly unwelcoming. I rang the doorbell for my appointment and I was a bit early. I was told everyone was on break and I needed to wait until my scheduled time. I bet if I was a bit late, it would have been an issue. I understand waiting until your scheduled time, despite them noting in their many email reminders to be early and being late gets you canceled, but the half opened door like they were scared I was going to ask them about our lord and savior Jesus Christ was a lot. I asked if I could just browse the jewelry while I waited and was told no because the piercer was "going to explain everything." I'm not going to school to be a piercer, so I don't need an education and it's also not rocket science. I was getting jewelry replaced in existing piercings. I'm assuming the new jewelry goes in the hole. I don't need that explained. The jewelry is incredibly overpriced and nothing is visibly priced, so I have to ask over and over what things cost. I know they think they are the Gucci of piercing places but Gucci wouldn't treat their paying customers like they were calling to ask about their car's extended warranty. There's a few reasons for the 1 star They never seem to have any of the jewelry I pick out in stock (please don't put it on display if you don't have it). I know that seems minor but when the 3-4 choices I have are all unavailable it's very discouraging. Lady with the pink hair at the counter (sorry I didn't catch her name) her customer service seems nice at first but I could quickly tell it was fake and made me feel unwelcome there. She was snarky and shut down anything I or my friend had to say. She made comments and gave opinions on subjects she was not knowledgeable about. Vicki the piercer, was cold and rude. She pierced another person we were with where it wasn't the worst in that experience. However she seemed unhappy like she did not want to be there the way she wasn't reassuring, her tone in voice, and the need to rush everything was also uncomfortable. Not a single person there at the time could take responsibility for a situation that had happened. My friend felt so horribly that she apologized and cried (because that's just how nice she is) and no one ever apologized or showed any kind of compassion. During the "name erased off the board" situation Vicki snapped and raised her voice at my friend. My friend even apologized to her (even though she wasn't at fault) and all Vicki could say was (with the biggest eye roll) "yeah." And after the situation my friend is called in and as I follow behind her with her boyfriend Vicki literally shuts the door in my face. As far as I know a person is always allowed up to 2 people to be in the room with them so I'm not sure where this came from. Eventually Vicki unhappily opened the door, let out a big sigh of annoyance saying only one of us could go in. I saw my friend cry on the table and Vicki did not say a word. She does the piercing and speeds through the whole process. Still no words. I understand tensions can run high when it's busy (it was a Saturday evening around 5pm) but the quality of the service and experience should not go down because of it. Employees should be trained to handle high stress situations and make all customers feel comfortable. I'm glad I didn't get another piercing here. I noticed that any negative reviews this shop gets, the manager or owner replied in a way to make the review seem invalid or is if it was the customer's fault. I will gladly go into very specific details if needed. This is from my perspective being there witnessing what happened as a customer. I made an appointment for my daughter to get her ears pierced upon the recommendation of a local pediatrician's office. After making the appointment, speaking to a staffer by phone, and reading the policies on their website, we showed up early as requested. We presented state-issued ID for both of us. But because our last name's are different -- very common in today's world -- we were told we needed another form of ID. I offered to drive to get it but they said we would have to reschedule AND lose our deposit. There was no acknowledgement that we had acted in good faith and tried to abide by their policies; only a cold "you can reschedule". This made me wonder how many times this business has held deposits for minor reasons, and whether it's legal. I understand they have rules to abide by but the person I spoke to on the phone prior to making the appointment -- Mollie -- said they would be flexible about, say, cancelling in less than 24 hours if there was an unforeseen circumstance. Why be flexible about that and not be flexible about last names being different? It seems an unfair policy that stigmatizes mothers who choose to retain their maiden name. Also, we could not have gotten a passport for my daughter without her birth certificate, so the passport should be sufficient. She is not old enough to have a driver's license. I left unsatisfied and came home to receive an automatic email asking for a review. I did not provide a good one. It was easier for my minor daughter to fly on a plane this summer, with her brother and his friends, with her passport only, than it is to get ears pierced? Reading other reviews I see that this business has multiple customer service problems. Maybe we're better off without having used their services but the automatic "forfeit" deposit policy is suspect. read more

I have been here in the past to purchase and change jewelry and they have also helped me because my nose piercing was having issues due to cheap jewelry from the place I had originally gotten it done at. They are very knowledgeable and take their time (it takes an hour or so between paperwork and the piercing). I appreciated that my piercer, Rob, took time before hand to talk to me about tv shows and such because it made me feel a lot more comfortable and way less nervous. The piercing itself was painful obviously but much less than I was expecting due to Rob's carefulness and skill. I couldn't be happier with the whole process at Black Diamond Body Piercing. I especially like the rules - I know they go to great lengths to make sure clients are handled as safely as possible because of the strict policies. On 12/26/23 I gifted a young friend (13) ear piercing and jewelry. I too had second ear holes pierced. We were greeted warmly (others have said not warm, but they are), filled out "paperwork", and chose our jewelry. I must have changed my mind 1/2 dozen times and staff was gracious and didn't rush me; very patient, in my opinion. We both had the procedure done quickly & safely, and even got pictures. They reached out to me to be sure all was well and responded promptly. Though more expensive than Mall piercers, I am happy to pay more for quality & safety - I don't plan any more piercings, but I would CERTAINLY return to Black Diamond and recommend them to anyone who asked me. read more

Will never be coming back. We live an hour away and made sure that we had everything that we needed to get my ears pierced. We had my little sister with us which we thought was fine because on their website under appointments it said that an additional person will not be allowed to come into the room with me. so we show up and the lady says that my sister cannot come in because she's under age which is okay. then she says your mom will have to be in the piercing room at all times. so we had to leave because we weren't comfortable leaving my sister in the car alone for a half an hour, so we lost 75$ read more

Horrible experience. I'm writing this 6 months after getting my nipple pierced here. First I'd like to start by saying the woman who pierced me had no personality. She was dismissive and unfriendly, even though I kindly tipped her $20 before she even pierced me. They jewelry they used was not secure and fell out a month into having it pierced. which is horrible. Nipple Piercings should not be changed until after at least 6 months because they take a long time to heal. My nipple piercing prior to the jewelry falling out began developing a keloid (scar tissue bump). Which is a result of her piercing technique, I have another nipple piercing which was done at a different place (stay true body piercing, at which I had a way better experience). That piercing never had any complications and the jewelry has never fallen out. I didn't take any different precautionary measures between the first one I got and the one I received at black Diamond. I cleaned both piercing regularly. Black Diamond is also one of the only places I've been pierced, that specifically does piercings, that does not provide any form of after care. Because of the complications with the poor quality jewelry and having to prematurely change it, I have had many issues with infection and the healing process has been prolonged. I'm extremely unsatisfied by my experience here and would not recommend this place for any body piercings aside from your ear lobe which is virtually impossible to mess up and is less prone to infection. read more

The staff is knowledgeable and trustworthy- it is clear that they know what they're doing. However, during my most recent experience there, I have had terrible customer service. As I said, I've been there numerous times and have bought a significant amount of jewelry. I spent nearly $300 on a couple of earrings this summer and both fell out over the past couple of months! I was devastated. $300 down the drain. I asked if there was anything they could do, and the girl at the desk simply said "No". After being such a loyal customer I was upset by her response. It was my first time to black diamond for a piercing because a friend recommended it and the whole process was amazing. The paperwork you fill out prior while waiting is now a link where you do it all on your phone and while it's being sent to the shops database they help you pick out the jewelry you want. All the girls were super nice and everywhere was very clean and Vikki made me feel calm and comfortable, it was a pretty intimate piercing, with all my questions for aftercare answered. Maybe my experience has to do with the appointment being the last one on a Friday night, but I just did not love this place. My piercer, Vikki, was not welcoming, not helpful answering my questions, and honestly a little rude. I had to pay, and tip, before the piercing, so its possible all bedside manner goes out the window after that. I've had a lot of piercings/tattoos and this was my first time going to Black Diamond so its unfortunate the experience wasn't great because I would've gone back since its so close to where I live. The environment itself is clean, cute, and well laid out, it was just my piercer who ruined the personal experience. read more

After reading all the reviews I decided to give it a try. I had the Daith Piercing done by Andie. The place is extremely clean and sanitary, just what I hoped for. The staff was friendly and helpful. Andie explained everything step by step and was very thorough. I did appreciate this since I was nervous. Definitely a place I would come back to and recommend. read more
