Wow. My nose ring fell out a couple days ago and I was desperate to replace it. I'm used to a nose screw and the place I used to go to doesn't carry them anymore. I called ahead to see if I needed an appointment and whether they carried my preferred screw and didn't need the appt based on the info I received. When I inquired about the price range of the screws, I was surprised by the $5-$10 range, but I really should have taken it as a sign. The guy who rung me out was nice BUT based on my previous piercing purchases, I was shocked at what came next. He picked my screw out bare handed and plucked a pair of pliers from behind the register and adjusted it. He was uncertain so he asked the woman behind the register to check it and she also touched it bare handed. Like, wait! So we're just out here raw dogging my nose jewelry? Over the phone I was told the fee to insert the screw; however, no offer to do so was made. And to be fair, it's small in there and it seemed like 20 people were in there at one time. While the effort was appreciated, the experience felt sordid to say the least. I can't say I'll be back. read more

Super super sweet piercer! Husband and wife own the shop and she is the piercer. I asked for the conch piercing and I knew that it helped with migraines but it also looks cute. My only thing is that I believe they allow people to choose piercings they want to be pierced with. I've never heard of a shop doing that before. I've had many piercings all in my ears, and my nose, and I've always just been pierced with the surgical stainless steel. I don't think I would let someone piece me with something other than that. I guess if someone is insistent, but it only takes a few months to heal and you can change it to something pretty. I also am a little annoyed they measured my earring length wrong and it really irritated me tragus piercings so I can't wear the jewelry I bought from them which was 30 dollars. And two separate drives there. Otherwise great place. Update: I went to Luckys in NoHo to get my piercings changed. And she noticed the daith piercing I had done here was very angry and migrated down and she said it could tear my cartilage if it moves further. She was nice enough to take a picture for me and said I could try to heal it but I would have to really really take care of it like 5-6 times a day. I work way too much for that, so I had her remove it. I have to now wait 2 months to get it repierced. She said it looked like it was pierced just a little too low for my anatomy. read more

Got my first body piercing done at Moonflower with Melissa. A friend of mine recommended me this place and I'm so glad I went! I had messaged the shop on their Instagram in April with questions and concerns to which they responded thoroughly and quickly! They were extremely helpful before I even stepped foot into the shop. With Covid-19 going on, they had clear signs and markings on the floor for customers health safety. They took my temperature before going to the waiting room. Melissa greeted me and prepared the piercing room. She was extremely nice and calmed my nerves. I was also able to bring 1 support friend with me, which was also helpful. After, she explained to me how to keep my new piercings clean and what to expect. I bought their homemade sea salt spray, which I am loving so far and also recommend! As far as pain goes, the first day I definitely felt it but it wasn't uncomfortable. After that, I have not felt any pain since. Melissa has a great hand for piercings! The atmosphere is great and comfortable and immediately puts you at ease. If you're thinking of getting anything done, Moonflower is the place to go! read more

DO NOT go here. I have gotten two infected piercings from here. They got infected shortly after piercing despite doing everything they suggested for aftercare. My insurance has had to pay over $1,000 between antibiotics, doctors appointments, and etc. I have also heard from several other people that their piercings they got from here have also had issues. No love for the Moonflower yet? I'll be the first. I got my nose pierced here a few years ago and had an excellent experience - quick, professional, as painless as a needle through your nose can be. This is compared to when I first got my nose pierced (other nostril) over ten years ago at a sketchy little headshop up at UCONN - now THAT was a botched, pain-filled piercing. I worked in a conservative office after graduating so I let the piercing close but missed my lil' nosering so much that I returned to Moonflower. When I'm in the area, I'll pop in to take a look at their body jewelry. They've got a decent selection (though not as good as the piercing places on Park in Hartford) I recently accompanied two friends to Moonflower after recommending the piercer and both had a similarly great experience. read more

Melissa and Eli were very helpful! I have a swollen tragus piercing that I needed to switch to a flat back stud for work - they let me bring my own stud and were willing to switch it for $5. However, it didn't fit because of the swelling so Melissa suggested and placed a longer stud for a very reasonable price. They were welcoming and professional and made me feel comfortable. Went here a few winters ago after I finally built up the courage to get my nose pierced. When you first walk in, you're always greeted with a smile by whoever is running the front desk. Making an appointment is easy but make sure to bring an ID! They're pretty flexible with times and days so that's always a plus and there's even a discount on Tuesdays! Upstairs, there's a tattoo parlor with a relaxed vibe and a room where the piercings are done. Melissa, the woman who does the piercings, goes at your pace and gives you TONS of information on cleaning and after care of the piercing (which is always much appreciated and helpful). Although I was nervous, she made getting my piercing done easy and painless (almost, I mean I did get a needle pushed through my nose ). I filled out all the paperwork in a few minutes and paid (it's cash only but there is an ATM right in the store) and went upstairs. I was pierced by Melissa who was incredibly nice and talked me through the whole process. Everything felt incredibly professional. Melissa, the piercer, is a darling. Her attitude is great and she makes her customers feel really comfortable. The reason I'm only giving this place 2 stars is because one of the receptionists that first greeted us was kind of rude. She treated my friend and I like we were stupid and she made us feel out of place/unwanted. After we got our piercings done, I was interested in buying new jewelry for my other piercings, but everyone who worked at the store ignored us and were too busy talking. I couldn't get a word in to ask them to help me and by this point, I was too frustrated with the service already so I just left. The piercing studio itself is a lot cleaner than the outside/downstairs of the shop may look, but it's still not as clean as the piercing parlor I normally go to. Also, Melissa gave us Povidone-Iodide (Betadine) to clean the piercing afterwards and recommended us to buy more to clean the area, which is a huge NO. All the medical websites I have looked at said not to use any Iodine products to clean piercings because it could hinder the healing process, disrupt scar tissue, cause scar tissue to rupture, etc. if used longterm. If Melissa knew about these side effects from iodine products, she shouldn't have recommended them at all. I do like how they give options in terms of piercing jewelry (you can choose different sized studs for a cartilage piercing, or you can get a hoop). Overall, I like my piercing, but I probably wouldn't come back and I would only recommend this place if you're looking for somewhere cheap to get your piercing done. read more

I wanted to get my ear pierced, and this place got my attention with its great reviews. I stopped in and met Melissa, who was super friendly and knowledgeable. I had my rook and upper cartilage pierced, and she did them very quickly and professionally, explaining each step as she worked. I told her that I want to get a small heart for the rook piercing once it heals, and she made sure to pierce at the correct angle so it wouldn't look funky- she also makes custom heart earrings, so you can get whatever size you want. Both of them were great, Melissa is always sure to go over aftercare for your new piercing with you very carefully, because it is so important for a healing piercing to be looked after correctly. I've also had several jewelry changes done there, switching from lower quality jewelry to the high quality things they sell downstairs. I love these guys! I don't care what anyone says. I have a personal history with this place since I was 16 yrs old getting my belly button pierced. The owner was so nice and awesome! Flash forward my girlfriends got there tongues pierced, Wonderful job then. To present time, My sister and me both got our dermals done (at a different place) and they needed to be removed. Of course the place we got them originally done was closed down -_- and couldn't take care of us. So we headed down to moonflower since I had good experience in the past. Mine wasn't as painful to remove since my dermal was rejecting, but my sisters was very painful. SAGE was very patient/gentle and had reassurance with my sister. Melissa was overseeing and wonderful as well. Moonflower was so wonderful with us and I would def recommend them! Very knowledgeable and wonderful customer service!! read more

One word of advice? DO NOT GET PIERCED AT MOONFLOWER. Absolutely not, no exceptions, no excuses. Such shoddy workmanship. Any piercer who pierces you for 25$ INCLUDING jewelry is obviously using crappy, made-in-China jewelry worth 30 cents. I was an idiot and had both my nostrils pierced here when I was 15 and it was terrible quality jewelry that caused awful scarring that I'm still dealing with 3 years later. Do your research, know your facts. Good work is not cheap and CHEAP WORK IS NOT GOOD. ***EDIT*** There is quite a difference between "medical grade" and IMPLANT grade. Implant grade stainless steel or titanium can stay in your body indefinitely without corrosion or any sort of deterioration. Medical grade means that it can be used for medical equipment. It's still an alloy that contains nickel which many people are allergic to. read more

Very disgusted and unhappy with piercing which I received from Melissa @ Moonflower. She seemed experienced and like she knew what she was doing but my tongue piercing is COMPLETELY CROOKED. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. My boyfriend and I both got our tongues pierced here together and his is crooked as well, not as badly as mine but still very well crooked! My boyfriend went first, I noticed that Melissa pushed the needle in, stopped for a brief moment, and proceeded to push the needle the rest of the way through.
