You can see the staff spinning the dough for the pizzas from anywhere you sit. Staff: efficient and polite, nothing over the top. Everyone appears to know what they are doing and they enjoy it. Food: we shared 1 big blue salad. We both enjoyed it. I was surprised I would like blue cheese crumble with a vinaigrette, but it worked. However, $10 for their big salad left me thinking it should have been bigger. I wonder what the small salad would have looked like. The crust on the vegetable pizza was cooked well. Medium thinness, lots of veggies, not enough cheese in my opinion. I imagine the veggies shine when the cheese is in moderation. Good flavor, we added parmesean and red pepper flakes (they were fresh). I am glad we ate there because the crust became soggy under the veggies after 20 minutes. The crust wouldnt have survived the drive.home. Tea was fresh brewed and I enjoyed that it wasn't bottled. It was a pleasant experience, we didnt leave hungry and we could bring our service dog. Location: It is about 40 minutes from our home. We happened to be in the area. I would eat here again if I was in the area. This pizza place jumped out to us while we were at a yelp event close by. Of course we had to try it. Pizza is difficult to do bad. This place did pizza perfectly. Everything tasted fresh. We left an event and needed a little more food in our tummies, so my friends and I stopped in for a slice of pizza at Black Cat Pizzeria. I ordered a slice with ham, onion and banana peppers. It was a nice size slice and they were generous with the toppings. The pizza was tasty! Although I do prefer a little more red sauce. But I loved the thin crispy crust! Service was super friendly. If you go on Tuesday, they have wine and tap beer bogo. Bonus! I loved the decor, especially the cassette tapes that spelled Black Cat on the wall by the kitchen. Friendly staff, inviting, quick service. You order near the front door and can choose to dine in or pickup. It's very family friendly, with appropriate listening music, board games, and tvs. The pizza is cooked to order and it's so good and cheesy!! They have plenty of vegetarian options as well, including "beyond meat". We ordered a small pizza and it was very large. Black Cat ranks towards the top of my favorites for a slightly chewy but great crust and amazing, perfectly balanced toppings - including the sauce to toppings ratio that other reviewers found inadequate. This place is close by and I will probably order pizza here again even though it's fairly average. I had a calzone from here a few months ago and it was descent. So I ordered another one and I wish I had taken a picture of it. It was supposed to be a large but it wasn't like the one I ordered last time. And it wasn't like anything pictured on this site or on the web. It was rolled up like a two inch tube with hardly any cheese in it. What was in there was all clumped in the middle. The marinara sauce was incredibly sour. Service has always been excellent here but the product average. I wish I had said something yesterday but I was tired and hungry and just accepted it the way it was. I really want this business to succeed because I would love a good local pizza joint near me. If you want to get our attention & probably some of our scratch (pun intended), put the word "Cat" (or kitty or kitten) in your business's name. The "three best friends that anyone could have" shared a meal here a couple of Fridays ago. The dudes ordered the meat pizza, which they should probably just call Dude Stuff, and the Mrs. ordered the Big Blue salad. As you can see, both the salad and the pizza were well topped. The pizza slices were huge, so it gives you the option to fold it in half. It's like having a slice of pizza and a sandwich at the same time, so you're checking multiple boxes on the wish list. You do place your order at the counter, but they also have multiple people who bring out the food, will get drink refills, and continue to check on you throughout the meal. I was so excited to find a pizza place that offered gluten free crust and vegan cheese. It was good too! It's so hard to find good gluten free options. My husband got the $9 lunch special and his slices were huge. You order at the counter and they bring you your food. There were other customers but they brought it fairly quickly. This is a really good pizza. Without going to the island there are no eat in pizza places anymore. We tried this place on a recommendation and were really satisfied. Some places put so much sauce on that it overpowers the other toppings, this was not the case here. Enough sauce but you could taste every topping. Plenty of cheese. The best part was the crust, probably the best crust I have ever had on a pizza. I see a few bad reviews but cannot agree with them. Forewarned...I'm from Joisey, and I rate pizza accordingly. I've been here for 1-1-2 years and have been trying all the pizza places on Amelia Island and Fernandina Beach. Black Cat makes a fine pie! One of my top choices in the area. I ask for a thin crust, well done with cheese and sauce out to the edges... and sometimes they give me what I ask for, it, other times, not so much- but I still recommend. You may need to wait a little longer than some other places but it's worth it, and there is a brewery just next door, so go sit there with a beverage and chat with the nice folks ! What a nice hidden gem just outside of Jacksonville! We've had their Pizza twice and were not disappointed. The pizza is cooked well and has great flavor. Staff is attentive and nice. Last time we were in, we got to meet the owner who is very personable and informative. (The shop recently had an issue with their ovens that had forced them to close for a couple of days.) Don't go to this establishment anymore. All of the staff is new and their treatment and customer service is awful. Been going there for years on my lunch break and they were always great and friendly. Walked and ordered ahead slices like I always have and when I get there they were burnt. Asked if they could remake them for me and they got nasty and refused and said they were normal. They asked me if they could give me my money back instead of attempting to satisfy me. she started getting nasty saying that I've complained before when I've seen her before in my life. Ridiculous! I called in the afternoon for a pickup order at 6pm. Unfortunately it wasn't ready till 6:15 but they were apologetic and offered me a free drink while I waited! The food was worth the wait. I got the full Greek salad and it was amazing. The dressing was a bit thick but absolutely delicious. We got a large white pizza and it was huge. It was garlicky and thin and not oily. I would definitely get it again. The breadsticks we got were the pizza version... And they weren't bad but I'm going to try a different kind next time I visit. Made our first visit here today, during lunch and we gotta say, Black Cat Pizzeria is a solid, solid replacement for the other local pizza place (just a few doors down) that decided to bail from this area, for "the island". Quick, friendly service and the pizza was pretty tasty....better that the "chain" places in the area. The Mrs. thought the crust was a little chewy, but I didn't mind it. In their defense, it was on their menu, but I ordered a Hawaiian Pizza, I never thought anyone would put a chilli sauce on a Hawaiian Pizza. The chilli sauce made my whole large pizza taste like nothing except BBQ sauce I was very disappointed. When I called the store to inquire as to why my Hawaiian Pizza would taste like BBQ sauce and ask to maybe be comped a small without the sauce as you could not taste any of the other great ingredients on my large Hawaiian , I was told there was nothing they could do except make me another one, that I could pay for. This is a fantastic pizza restaurant. We were greeted as soon as we walked through the door, placed our order and found a table. The restaurant is very clean, and the staff is very friendly. We loved their choice of music that they played and said multiple times that we had wished we had a pizza joint like this during our high school years. They played late 80's folk punk and 90's psychedelic rock/grunge. We felt right at home and watched football on the flat screen until our order came up. I ordered a side salad (that was huge) and a BBQ gluten free pizza. We also tried out a Medium build your own (BYO) that was probably the equivalent of an XL for any other place. When I paid and everything she told me to have a seat and they would call me.
