I'm sure you are here because you can't figure out what type of martial arts to put your kid in…read more.. or you're trying to find a good Taekwondo spot. Well you're in luck because you found a great spot to fulfill both of these desires. Impact Martial Arts is a very well rounded program. My son is in the Tigers 3-6 year old class The class starts with a warm-up and talk about the word of the day (whether it's discipline, respect ,etc.) Then they work on form and technique and work on different types of strikes with their hands and feet. Then the last half of class they focus on weapon training. They typically have two 30 minutes classes per week. They offer classes every day including Saturday. Our son has been doing it for 3 months now and loves it. It's really helped hmm him with his confidence and learning to speak up and speak louder. So far I'm very happy with this place. We are glad we chose Taekwondo because it incorporates hand strikes , kicking and weapons and seems well rounded. It definitely keeps his interest and attention and that's what we were looking for. Our son has been going here for a few months now and it's been great. I would definitely recommend this place

I like the lessons being taught, especially about finding good friends. My daughter had so much fun, especially kicking the board and mom using the pool noodle to test out her defense training. If we were local to Poway and the San Diego area still, I'd definitely look into signing my daughter up for some classes.

You have 3 different disciplines being taught in one school. Boxing, Kenpo Karate, and Brazilian…read moreJiu-Jitsu. You can study any one, or all 3 if you like. However, the most important thing are the teachers. The Matriarch, Mr. B who is retiring after more than 38 years, is leaving the school to his children, Mr. Jordan, and Mrs. Jess who have learned these arts since they could walk. And you couldn't ask for more down to Earth, kind and wonderful people to learn from. Both believe in a friendly, happy environment to learn in, while at the same time ensuring their decades of training are passed onto you so you may, lose weight, become more confident, and defend yourself, or others in any situation. I am 55 years old. I last learned some form of Martial Arts when I was 30 but the school I went to had to close down. I looked for other schools but finding a good teacher is harder than you think. I got away from studying for the next couple decades. I have returned starting anew with Kenpo, and I am happy that these are the people teaching. You may stop in, watch, and even try a class or two to see for yourself. You will discover other black belts such as Mr. Gabe who has been studying here since he was 5, will bring the same joy, and dedication to the art when they teach as well. Mrs. Jess, Mr. Jordan, and Mr. Gabe are here almost every single day the school is open. This is dedication, and a promise to you that you will learn from people who love what they do.

I've been counting the minutes until my son was old enough to start practicing martial arts. Well…read morethat day has come!! Whenever I research anything new for my family, especially my children, i'll start by looking at Yelp reviews and then google. Once I narrow it down to the top 2 or 3 in my area, then i'll ask my very trusted circle of peers to see if any of them have had experience with and/or have heard anything about the businesses. One stood out online as well as within my peer group comprised of other parents, Anthony Hong Tae Kwon Do !! SO, next step was to contact the studio and get a feel for them right over the phone(i'm a big "energy guy" so can feel if it's right or not immediately just by speaking to someone, lol;-). I spoke to a Master Joseph who was super friendly and very excited about having my little guy come try out their studio. Being that my son just turned 4 I know that there's a possibility that he may not like it so it was important to me that they have a trial period just to make sure before we officially lock in with them. They indeed do and it's a really good one. Only 39.99 for 4 intro classes AND you get a Gi with that which is worth $50 itself, wow!! That takes us to our first class.....my lil dude was nervous as heck and wasn't feeling it. UGH! Master Joseph was super nice and super patient and said don't worry this is pretty common. Told us to bring him back another day and let's give it another go. We did just that and this time he did GREAT and loved it!! PHEW!!!! I will say I was a bit skeptical when I saw Master Joseph as he looks really young, lol. After now watching him with our son, other children as well as adults for about 3 months, I can't praise him enough. He is absolutely FANTASTIC at what he does and he's PHENOMENAL with children!! You can tell that he has a true passion for teaching and helping others and I couldn't feel more comfortable with him guiding my son through his young martial arts journey. I also want to give a shout out to the grand master Anthony Hong himself as well. He runs a tight ship but is also super nice and works VERY well with the kids. His reputation throughout the community is rock solid as being an all around great guy! I've actually noticed that there's just as many adults that practice here as well and there's even classes where you can attend with your child! Who knows, maybe my old ass will get in there some day haha!! All in all, I couldn't be more happy with this studio or the instructors Master Joseph and Grand Master Hong, and the fact that my son is not only learning to defend himself but more importantly he's learning self confidence, respect and discipline. All traits which will help him become a fine young man some day and that he will carry with him forever. Oh and btw, I didn't think Johnny was ready to test for a belt after only a couple months and Master Joseph said he's ready. Well he was right, Johnny broke his board first shot, boom!!

We couldn't have found a better dojo to help us accomplish these goals! Both Master Joseph and Grandmaster Hong are fantastic! They work very well with both of my young kids. They are extremely patient and amiable, but they also know how to push their students to try harder and be better. They make an effort to foster discipline and hard work in class. They are great at keeping the kids engaged, so that they may not even realize they're working hard! Our kids really enjoy working with them! We drive almost a half hour (sometimes 45 mins) to go to their studio, even though there are other taekwondo classes available just down the street from us. That speaks volumes about how much we value the patient, steady work they are doing with our kids! We know that this is an investment in our kids' growth and development that will pay off in the long run.
