Candy Cane Chocolate Cream Pie

My family gathered for brunch after a ceremony on the Warm Springs reservation. Location was right off the main road and parking was easy to find. We had a rather large group but had no issues getting a table after a short wait (less than 30 mins). Although I've seen this chain on multiple occasions, this was my first visit. My only hesitation in the past were mixed reviews, but this location put them all to rest. Our table was served promptly with plates of waffles, desserts, omelets, breakfast burritos, and all the drinks. Everyone raved and humored my request for photos. The bear / cabin decor was so kitsch and on point. Wonderful choice to fuel our bodies before our trips home to multiple states.

Black Bear - 2 egg plate with a fruit side

We stopped by for breakfast on Thanksgiving. The hostess seated us immediately as they weren't yet busy. Everything inside was neat and clean, and with a friendly interaction with the hostess, things seemed on track for a good experience. Unfortunately, our service from that point on wasn't great. Our order was taken fast, but our server wasn't friendly or attentive. He left our ticket with the plates when he dropped them off and never checked in until we were finished. With empty mugs we couldn't even get his attention for a coffee refill...and the other server, whom we were able to eventually flag down, was clearly put off by having to do it. Ultimately we felt somewhat out of place and kind of unwelcome, as most of the tables were obviously regulars (called by name) being well-tended to by all staff with a smile. As for the food, we ordered 2 egg plates. Everything on mine was cooked well, but my husband's potatoes were quite undercooked: most chunks were still hard, the peppers raw, nothing crispy. But, no one checked as we were eating so no remedy there. Not a great meal experience. We pass through the area often, but wouldn't want to return here unfortunately.

I'm kind of excited to learn Black Bear Diner is a national chain and that there are a few in Colorado! Had dinner at this one while traveling in Oregon. Madras is such a small town most of the eateries were closed by 8pm! Good thing we found this diner. It's so "late" the clam chowder is more like porridge than soup, lol. But at least they still served warm soup! Salad was still fresh and you could have breakfast items like grits if your heart so desires! Had the salmon and it was served with a lot of vegetables, another plus. The Santa Maria Tri-Tip was as tender as the salmon! The only sad thing is I didn't get dessert here. I could only imagine how decadent the pies would be. More reason to check out a Black Bear Diner here at home!!

Large potions. Kinda of blank but the black bear diner is always fun. Service was quick. Prices are average. Nice big kids menu.

Burnt Ham Anyone?

This restaurant is filthy. Old fake greenery everywhere riddled with dust and cobwebs. Lights are greasy and dirt crusted. Service is subpar as waitstaff is not personable and to overwhelmed with tables to offer reasonable dining experience. As far as food ordered ham breakfast and it was burnt and dry. Hash browns were greasy and swimming in oil. Eggs were cooked perfect! To be fair I have eaten here 3 times and every time is the same. I will not be back. Needs deep cleaning and basic serving training!

Love this place. Great service, amazing food. Very friendly place to come get a bite to eat

This is there chicken pot pie ..

Ok well here it goes I ordered the chicken pot pie it was awful no favor no taste not really much in it. I think the service was quick and friendly waitress . This restaurant has a great vibe but the food is bland . I don't think I will be back . Would I recommend not really just plain average food nothing spectacular. I give them 2 stars .

Delicious elk burger, perfect fries, huckleberry pie was tart and yummy with whipped cream which we…read morehad at home when we ate it later. Too pricey for regular eats, but worth it once in a while. Only complaint is half on us, as we were so tired and hungry that we forgot to ask for a medium burger and got cooked through. Fortunately the elk flavor carried through anyway.

I don't even know where to start. I saw this restaurant on my maps app. They had good reviews on…read moreGoogle. So I thought I would try it, WHAT A MISTAKE! The young lady that greeted us had the personality of day old bread, kind of stale. There was a table of 4 and a table of 8. Two being kid's, and now us. 2. I thought this will not take long, boy was I mistaken. The table if 4 where just finishing up. And the table of 8. I thought we're finishing because the kids were still eating. Nope, they were bringing 1 plate at a time, for other 6. They forgot 1 of the 6, the person said don't worry about it. They just wanted to get out of there. A lady with purple hair, I assume she owned the nasty place half heartily made up excuses. Now are turn, took forever to take our order. We order - 1 breakfast sandwich, asked what type of bread, requested sourdough. Ham steak, eggs over medium, hash browns and sourdough bread. Order of Indian fried bread. What came 30 minutes later - Breakfast sandwich with rye bread that sat at the pass for 10 minutes, it was nasty. Ham luke warm, eggs over hard, microwave hash browns and sourdough bread, not toast. No butter, no jam. And least but not least, NO INDIAN FRIED BREAD. The you lady who sat us, also served us. Never came back to refuel our water cups Never checked on how the foods was. When she finally came, I told about both breads. She had a look of bewilderment. I said don't worry, no we are sorry no anything. Now last but not least- I used the restroom as my wife did. SAYING NASTY IS BE NICE!!!! THE WHOLE PLACE IS DIRTY. I COULD NOT GET OUT OF THERE FAST ENOUGH. When I go that way again. I'm going to speed up as I pass there. I stress, do not, I mean do not stop there! They need to be inspected by the county.

There is a very small indoor dining area, and we found seats at the counter (but don't count on it during busy times!) which was an added bonus for us! We are rock-hounders and LOVED trying to identify all the beautiful pieces in the inlaid countertops as we ate! Our Mushroom Swiss burger was HUGE and served on a good quality grilled w/butter bun! This was no "McClown" burger! So glad we decided to share this time, because the Banana Split was epic! The pic doesn't do it justice but the hard-pack ice cream blobs were as big as baseballs!!! Tastee Treet is now at the top of our list whenever we're visiting here! Also, they do have a covered outdoor dining area.

I usually get them to go but today I thought I would have it fresh off the grill and eat there. Inside there was a table of 4 and me. There were people outside too. They were busy. Took me 15 minutes to order but thats ok I really wanted this burger and to sit and read. The table next to me got there order and 3 out of the 4 burgers were wrong, So after the confused waitress finally figured out what the right ones were for the other table they recooked them. Their order came out one burger at a time very slowly and they were still not right. Finally got it right. I had now been waiting for my burger for 40 minutes. But ok they were busy but I needed to get to work. I asked them how long would it be and the cook said he is just putting on the grill. Really? A total of 55 minutes and they hadn't even started it. I needed to get to work so I asked for my money back because I now did not have time to eat lunch. As I was getting my money back the waitress said sorry they were really busy. "That's fine but you made them wrong 4 times". I am now at work very, very, hungry and I work until 10:00pm
