Gigi has been fantastic in getting us all set up for our new apartment. Very transparent, honest and accomodating. The building's door man also deserves a lot of praise. He is very kind, helpful, goes above and beyond every day and adds a lot to feeling home. Overall, the building is great. Great ameneties, our apartment looks amazing, location is great in close proximity to all subway lines, dumbo, smith street, trader joes, target, even whole foods. It's a pity though, that the hall ways are dirty with stains on the carpets everywhere and the same is true for the elevators. Bottom line is that this is a great place to live. read more

Lived here for two years. I loved my apt - great views of the city, large space and everything worked well for the most part. 90% of the employees that worked in the building were great. My two stars goes to the management company, which was pretty awful. They seemed bothered with any question or concern that was raised to them, and the response time terrible. As an example, I moved out almost 2 months ago and still haven't received my security deposit back. One of the biggest perks of the building was the pool, which of course was closed during COVID summer 2020. You'd think they would have taken the opportunity to do maintenance during that time since they had to close the pool, but instead the decided to do much needed window washing during the summer of 2021, which resulted in the pool being closed the majority of the time - renter should receive a discounted rent. For the price you pay I would say it's not worth it. read more

I really wanted to love this building, I really did. There are a few positives that I will get to but first let me save the reader some time and address the deal breakers. 1) If you're picking this building over others in the area and willing to pay more because of the pool, big mistake. The pool has 8 chairs, 2 that never got fixed all summer, and has not been fully maintained in years. The lease states only residents can use the pool but that's wrong. You have a whole group of friends? Sure bring them! Coming off the street and just want a free pool in nyc? Sure you're welcome too! All you need to provide is an apartment number and you're good to go. Just pick a number and a letter to give to the lifeguard and you're in! That's right folks no verification here! It's that bad to the point where randos who don't even live here and friends of tenants get chairs, the pool gets packed and residents are literally forced to lay on scorching hot concrete in the summer. Don't believe me? See the picture. I can't make this up. Save yourself the stress, get a cheaper apartment and with the extra money book yourself a guaranteed seat at a nice hotel pool for the weekend. Or just live around here and feel free to just use this pool, because everyone can!! Because of the size and this whole "everyone's welcome" situation I only enjoyed the pool a few times this summer. Why didn't I talk to management? I did. Got told "they'll look into it". They never did. 2) No consequences or actions towards noisy neighbors. If you're looking at the available unit on the 24th floor good luck unless you love college parties! 40 people in a tiny 1 bedroom apartment (how do they even all fit??) until 3am every Friday and Saturday night slamming doors, hanging out in halls, elevator dinging all night. Are you a college kid looking for a party apartment? This is the one for you!! You call downstairs about the noise, they tell you to call the cops. No consequences. 3) That beautiful sky lounge you were looking at? You can book it for a max 2 hours. "But it takes over a half hour to set up and for my guests to get here". Wellp too bad better tell them to run. I wanted to have a birthday gathering on a random summer Friday for 3 hours. The reservation was altered by building staff to 2 hours and the last half hour being "clean up". Wow a whole 1.5 hours for something I've been planning for weeks. Restaurants let you hang out at your table longer than this, come on do better. 4) Be wary of location. Yes there are other lux apartments in the area but this one is in close proximity to homeless shelters. This isn't a negative to me, however flagging this to more vulnerable and younger people. Unfortunately not all the homeless make it into the shelter every night/morning, therefore the remaining are left waiting around this area and the Avalon apartments. Please be prepared to be stopped several times and be asked for money, food, see several fights break out, and even see some in the lobby before they're politely asked to leave. Again not a bad thing, we are in nyc and this happens in several places, just a heads up. Overall, most of the amenities have been spoiled by negligent management. The building might have potential but not with the same staff in management that lacks processes and actions and lacks care about their residents. Here's the good stuff: - Appliances in the apartment are very nice. Washer and dryer a plus. Fridge is pretty awesome, the thing I will actually miss most. - Doormen are on point and amazing. They are always friendly and welcome, on top of packages outgoing and incoming and honestly just genuine people you become friends with over time. - Maintenance is on point! You put in a maintenance request, you get it fixed same day if not within a few hours. The guy hustles hard and cares about his work. I really appreciated that. - Views are cool -Close to subways and grocery stores (don't go to the one on Myrtle.) - Rooftop views are nice. There's a good reason why there's so many vacant apartments in this building. Before we get into that, the good things. The doormen were absolutely astounding. I got to know so many of them personally over my tenure and loved all of them. The leasing office when I first signed used to be great. The location isn't great itself, but it's central to many parts of Brooklyn and easy to get around. However, after living in this building for over a year and a half, I would *strongly* recommend against it. The management and the current leasing office are atrocious. It takes multiple emails to get their attention and few things are ever resolved-- from casual inquiries to maintenance issues to scheduling move-in/move-out times. Either the leasing office is understaffed or plainly incompetent, but they are not organized. They double booked my move out time and this meant I had to do a costly rescheduling with my moving company. I had a broken dishwasher that had not been fixed for 3 months and counting. Multiple attempts to contact the management office and maintenance have resulted in no follow-ups. On the doormen, I noted they used to be wonderful. All of the doormen (and members of the leasing office) I grew to know and love as a part of the community have left; several of these have cited incompetent building management as the primary reason why they booked other jobs. The units offer nice views, but there's a lot to them which quickly deteriorate. I had panelling in the kitchen fall off the walls within a month of moving in; they are simply glued back on. The building creaks and noticeably sways in any instance of wind. The street noise is extremely loud for a modern building; even 30 floors up, you will hear every shout and horn on Flatbush avenue. There are multiple buildings nearby which friends of mine have had much better experiences at. I would recommend the Avalon and the Eagle. Under the current leasing and management staff, this building is simply not functional. read more

I don't generally write reviews but I think it's my responsibility to warn people about moving into this building. While the building appears to be luxury, the management company that owns this place, Lalezarian Properties, LLC, is terrible. Rather than being accommodating to the tenants, Lena, the property manager, and Kevin, the principal owner of the management company ignore tenants. In order to get any assistance, multiple tenants have to band together to sign a petition. For gym use, since most of us are working from home due to the pandemic, there has been multiple requests by tenants to have the gym opened past 4pm and it to be cleaned more regularly. I have met tenants who wanted to get out of their lease for personal/health related reasons and found people who were willing to take over their lease but Lena would not even try to be accommodating in any way. The staff also do not seems to honor Covid guidelines of wearing a mask. In addition, since I've been here, there have been multiple changes to the leasing office administrators. None of them stay in the position for more than a few months, making it seem like working for Lalezarian Properties, LLC is equally difficult as being a tenant for them. Something I was unaware of prior to move-in, filing maintenance requests are absolutely useless. They do not give a date or time window in which they plan to fix any issues. Seems like getting a filter changed in the fridge or the dryer takes north of a week and issues with pipes and toilets take bare minimum 3 days (and that's only if you ask the front desk for an ETA on service requests). The maintenance team seems to be unprofessional as well. Ezra, one of the maintenance members, is overly flirtatious with the tenants and some of the tenants I have spoken to are very uncomfortable with that. There are many other reasons to steer clear of this building. The positive reviews seem fake after only living in this building for a few months. As a precaution to perspective tenants who wanted to move to the area, I would stay away from Bklyn Air and Bklyn Gold, which are both owned by Lalezarian Properties, LLC. read more

If you have a professional job, chances are you pick a place to live based on how convenient it is to your job and the relative ease of moving in and out of the apartment. I've been renting a co-op in Park Slope but needed to live closer to the city. The co-op was such a breeze to move into and out of. No unnecessary red tape making a stressful time even more so. Same with the two previous apartments I lived in Manhattan. Like most other large apartment buildings, BKLYN Air requires you reserve an elevator for your move in, and only allows moves M-F, which is fine. What became a problem was my movers ran late. In a large apartment building, I find it hard to believe that movers running late is an extremely unusual situation. When I became concerned that they would miss the reservation, I sent an email to "management" 1.5 hours before my time slot ended. Their response: "Another unit is moving out at 12:00 P.M. Cheers," Ohhhkayyy.... That's not a helpful response. I guess the social skills are borderline, so I ask in response "What do I do?" Their response: "You can speak to the other tenant and see if she is willing to share the elevator or reschedule for a different time slot 2-4." My reply: "Could you give me the contact information for the other tenant so I can ask them?" Their response: "I cannot share that information. Cheers," ... Then why did you tell me to do that? How am I supposed to communicate with them? Through a psychic connection? Pro-tip: moving is stressful. If something isn't going right, don't ask me to do something that isn't possible. That's only going to make people angry. Also, the movers I hired are based out of Brooklyn, and have a 5 star rating with more than 250 reviews on yelp. And they said that they've done lots of moves in apartment buildings here in downtown Brooklyn (there are tons of them), and they said they've never had an issue with sharing the elevator, if the scheduled elevator time was missed. Management actually has the nerve to tell me to just wait in the lobby for the other moving tenant to ask them if we can share the elevator. Really?? You know there's modern technology called phones, right? And if there's a privacy issue, then why can't you ask them? They told me to ask the doorman to ask the other moving tenant whether it would be okay to share the elevator. But he wouldn't--all he would ask is, "are your movers here?" Um, that's not the same question as "Could we share the elevator?" I should have known from the beginning when I had submitted my application for the place. For employment verification, my place of work is very into technology, and they ask the verifier to verify through The Work Number, which is a much more secure way of verifying employment than a letter. Their response? "We do not except [sic] the employment verification that way." FYI, "except" is not the same word as "accept". Typically when you pay absurd amounts of money for things, part of the reason you're paying that much is for the experience, for ease, and flexibility. Apartment buildings should work to make this experience as easy as possible--if things aren't going according to plan, the right response isn't to just shrug and say there nothing you can do. Here's an update: This place is not a good place to rent. They are lazy, deceitful, and unresponsive. We moved out over a month ago and still haven't received any info about getting our deposit back. The apartment was left in great condition during the walk through we were told it looked great and should expect the entire deposit back. Unfortunately we still haven't gotten it or a response to our emails asking about it. The five star reviews here are clearly someone on the inside trying to save face. This place is not 5 stars. The windows are filthy as they have not been cleaned in over two years and the landlord has refused to do it before the Spring of 2021 even though I have been requesting it for over a year. The building is all about big windows and views so filthy windows really brings the experience down - especially if you're working from home. The building staff are all lovely and help as much as they can but the property manager, Lena Pager, is extremely unhelpful. At BKLYNAIR, the sunrise is my alarm clock. Floor to ceiling windows reveal a spectacular view, whether it's sunrise, sunset, or both. In home laundry helps keep chores to a minimum, and the dog friendly building means my dog has numerous others to play with (and they do on a regular basis). In the summer, an outdoor pool is a great addition to the year-round cardio gym and also weight gym. The lounge was a great place to have a party with our close friends. It's a huge open space with a bar, fridge, tables and chairs, so all we had to do was manage the food. Everyone had a great time both times we booked it. All the amenities I've mentioned above come included in the rent, which is a better deal than other apartment buildings we looked at. I also love the use of space, the design team did a great job ensuring there is no wasted space in the floor plan. The apartments could use more closet space. On a technical note, the AC works great in the hot summer and the heat cranks well in the winter. I've never had an issue with hot water in the shower, even on a high floor. I can't finish this review without saying something about the super, doormen and porters. Not only are they kind and considerate to me and my guests, but they all know me on a first name basis and are always looking out for the tenants here. Anytime I've placed a maintenance request, it has been addressed and fixed within 48 hours. If I need to coordinate something while out of the building, it's never a problem. read more

I moved into the building with my boyfriend several months ago and had a wonderful experience - seamless move in, great apartment and we moved in just in time to take full advantage of the amazing pool and roof. We both used the gym several times a week and as many other comments have said, the front desk guys are complete gems. All was great! Fast forward to a few weeks ago and my boyfriend and I broke up 4 months into a 2 year lease. Yikes. I couldn't afford our unit on our own, and sent a very panicked email to the leasing office about moving into a less expensive unit. What should have been an incredibly horrible process - breaking a lease (seriously, don't sign a 2 year lease the first time you move in with someone), finding an open unit in my price range, signing a new lease...all while dealing with a messy breakup - was made extremely easy / bearable by the great guys in the leasing office and property manager. Daniel and Alex in the leasing office made the process so smooth for me, and within a week I was signing a lease on a new unit. They gave me very clear instructions on what was needed and when, making it possible to swiftly secure a new unit. They answered all of my numerous emails quickly and graciously and have been WONDERFUL to deal with at one of the lowest times of my life. I will forever be grateful for these guys!! Lena from the property management office has simultaneously been great to deal with about negotiating the penalty fee for the lease break and has been very upfront about when my ex and I can expect our deposits back. I've had nothing but a great experience here. I am SO relived to be able to stay in this building for the next year, and I hope for many more after that. read more

Lived here for 5 years, I was actually the 1st resident in my unit! Though it was time to finally make a move, I enjoyed my time here. The building itself is super modern / very well maintained, and includes a stocked gym (all the basics + extras), a rooftop pool, and rooftop indoor + outdoor lounge areas (complete with a grill) with incredible views. The location is really convenient - the neighborhood is still developing (and there are projects on 1 side of the building), but it's mostly safe and features a few restaurants close by (Pollo D'oro and Forno Rosso are both must haves). The residents are mixed - there are some great ones, others I could do without. Overall, it's one of the better buildings I've lived in, and I would recommend it just for that. Above all (and they make all the difference): the concierges, maintenance team, leasing office, and management were all top notch! Honestly, if I could have taken the entire team with me, I would have - they really did everything a resident could ask for; from helping me move in / out, responding to requests next day, helping me with lockouts / other issues, to just chatting / hanging out during my stay there. A huge THANK YOU to all of you: Lena, Bibi, Andrew, Sam, Sal, Alex, Miguel, Louis, EJ, Cassim, Alex, Daniel - I can't thank you enough and you're all missed big time. This is worst experience ever, just moved in apartment and realised building is NOT sound proof , you could literally hear all banging outside. There's concert happening across the road and we can hear everything. It's next to police station and FDNY so God help you if they put on sirens at night . There's no privacy -like I can see everyone and they can see us. NO exhaust in the bathroom so you will have hard-time with ventilation. In-house super don't really have idea how to fix stuff .we were told before move in Apt. Will be repainted and moulds in toilet will be removed and it will be like brand new apartment but unfortunately that's not the case , poor quality of paint job, finishes are not done properly! Elevators are slow , you will have hard time move in stuff and if you buy new furniture , management would need COI 3 days prior to delivery, we don't even have bed to sleep, couch to sit because of this nonsense process. No one bothered to clean Window glass from outside! And Problems go on , this is suppose to be luxury building at-least they can take care of all these problems. I've just been told there are other buildings around which are newer built and you get more for your money. read more

There are 2 gyms both on the upper floors with great views. There is a study room on the upper levels as well. The pool is small and not really conducive for swimming. There are very limited number of pool chairs too. You are not allowed to have guests at the pool. The doorman is also pleasant and helpful. read more

Thought I leave a review to help folks considering moving there. The building was built a bit poorly so you will see a lot of that in your apartment, but overall it is comparable to other fastly built buildings in this neighborhood. However, Brooklyn Air is very poorly maintained, and is already showing signs of wear, considering it was only just built a few years ago. I could not stress this enough - the gym, lounges, hallways etc are rarely ever cleaned. Repairs to the building also take forever to get done, and management rarely provides updates. As other reviewers have noticed, the management is highly unprofessional. The management team also runs Brooklyn Gold, which is across the street, and that building is now very run down. However, some folks ignore it because they work or attend school within less than a mile from the building. Over 50% of renters are probably NYU students. I would not recommend this building for someone truly seeking a luxury experience. If you're simply looking for somewhere close to work, then sure. For the price you pay, this is truly a disappointment. I never write reviews, but I wish someone had told me this before moving, because it is a huge financial commitment. read more

LOOK ELSEWHERE! Reading all the 1* review below, I can attest to the to the validity of these claims. "Ghetto" area, homicides behind our building, HORRIBLE HORRIBLE management, poor maintenance, cheap materials, questionable tenants... The list goes on. NY law also requires landlords to advise bank account details for where your security deposit is held- we'd lived here for years and we never received such details and neither did any of our friends in the building. Management are unresponsive, rude and quite honestly money hungry. They don't give a rats ass about anyone. I feel sorry for all the staff that work in the building as I'm sure they are treated poorly too. The fact that they don't even respond to Yelp comments goes to show that they are useless and don't care. There are newer buildings in this area that offer more for less $$. *WARNING* If you are considering this building for your next residence get out while you can. While it may look shiny and new on the website, living here has been a complete nightmare. The staff is rude and unhelpful. No one answers the phone when you have any sort of question and it is impossible to get any response from management. There was a heat leak last year which affected several apartments, mine included. The floors were completely buckled and they did not replace them for almost three months. It was a safety and tripping hazard in the apartment. Also water stains covered the walls which they took their sweet time to paint over. Then once they finally DID, I came home to my apartment with every light on! They don't have to pay the utility bill so why should they care? My furniture was left in shambles and a huge deuce in my toilet. WHO DOES THAT? At least flush, I was disgusted, but of course complaints to management got me no where. I have cameras in my apartment and at a later date saw them enter several times without permission. One time maintenance walked in on me while I was in the shower! I had a doormat outside of my door for obvious reasons and they made me get rid of it. I don't see how that is a "fire hazard" despite their ridiculous reasoning. You know what is? The fact that they haven't vacuumed the carpet in the hallway since they opened. Terrible. This place deserves zero stars. read more

If you are looking for an update on this place, it HAS NOT improved! Management still is the same, rude and unable to help the tenets that have been there since they opened. We were there for two years and there's still ply wood covering the floors in the lobby! What once was a great idea has completely failed. Give it up already and finish the floor, we don't need a fountain in the lobby that hasn't ever worked. We need a stable, sturdy floor to walk on everyday. I know the hallways hasn't been vacuumed the last 9 months I was there! It's disgusting! I emailed and called office everyday of the last month I was there and I was ignored. I DO NOT recommend living in this place! We signed up for another 2 years there and then was denied having a dog. We have the cutest Siberian husky! After being told at the signing, "As long as it is under 50lbs." Well I gave proof friom the breeder the mother and father was under 50lbs and I was still denied! We chose a husky because there was another husky in the building, guess what they are still living there! I went by the other day to say hello to the doormen and there I saw a German Shepard! Seriously! Not to mention it has been over 60 days and we still do not have our deposit from original apartment and the money we gave when we signed another 2 years! It's been almost one month since we moved out and I haven't even seen the paperwork I was told was necessary for me to fill out in order to get my deposit back. I've followed up multiple times and no response. Yes, this company ignores business emails without apology. They will lash out at you like you're doing something wrong when you do finally hear back from them, it's astounding. Also, we had to pull teeth to get a formal walk-through otherwise they wouldn't have bothered. Do be vigilant current tenants. Also take a mess of pictures upon move in and move out so you can prepare to take them to court. The people giving this place 5 stars are either friends of the management or the management themselves. This building and the management company are the worst I've encountered. The entire leasing process was seamless. From viewing the apartment to signing the lease (NO FEE and TWO months FREE!), they were very helpful in making it an easy and welcoming experience. The amenities don't compare to other buildings in the neighborhood because they are nothing short of amazing. The rooftop views are stellar, both gyms are clean and well equipped (wouldn't recommend for a regular or intense routine, but they're perfect for a quick visit), the pool is fantastic (VERY hard to come by in NYC) and the common room has everything you need. Not to mention the amazing space and appliances afforded in each apartment (Washer and Dryer, GE Range, Fridge and Dishwasher). We couldn't be happier in our place - BKLYN AIR is amazing! read more

My husband and I lived there for 18 months until recently and enjoyed the space and location during our time there. If you are on a low floor however, it is noisy being close to the police and fire department. So in the summer, you could hear sirens, if you had the windows open, but the double pane windows do keep the sound out so in winter or a/c days, noise was not a problem. The building was well kept and any repairs we requested were done in a timely manner. We had no problem with moving in or out and getting back our deposit. The office was always friendly and helpful with our questions. The gym was clean and neat and never super crowded. The views are fantastic from the sky deck. It is no smoking up on the deck and I appreciated that when having afterwork wine up there. read more

I am just wrapping up my lease here at BKLYN Air. I had a phenomenal experience here! The building is impeccably clean. The units are brand new and gorgeous. The views are next to none. The doormen are class acts. They went out of their way to make sure I had a great experience. The gym is convenient for daily use, never overcrowded and has the best view I've ever seen. The pool is fun and luxurious. Dekalb Market is a block or two away and has everything you need- Target, Trader Joe's, 40 vendors with unique food options. The management is attentive to any issue you might encounter. The immediate surrounding area was not my favorite but a quick drive to other areas like DUMBO and Soho in Manhattan. read more

Love this place. My husband and I actually went to see their sister building Brooklyn Gold and were referred to see this building given our budget and move in date. It was love at first sight. We saw this apartment on our first day of apartment searching and Gigi at the leasing office was super nice and helpful and was able to answer all of our questions even after we left. We saw a million other places but none of the amenities could compared. Once we finally decided to put in an application, Gigi kept in contact out us and made the application process as easy as possible. Moving in was a breeze! read more

I wish I had read the reviews before I signed the lease. I echo what everyone says. Overpriced, not the amenities they promise (still no pool and management won;t even respond about an opening date). They'll tell you what you want to hear to get you to sign the lease, but that is where the promises end. Broken elevators, bike rooms with tons of slots they won't let people use, promise of internet in common areas (roof/lounge) that doesn't exist or work when a wi-fi connection is listed. AVOID THIS PLACE!!! read more

It seems to be a nice building, doorman was friendly. Natalia, i think that was her name, was unprofessional. I have never met anyone so miserable showing apartments. She was rushing to show me the units. She was so unfriendly that the less than 10 minutes of the so called tour was torture. It is a nice building but if i have to deal with that kind of attitude from leasing then I can only imagine what nightmare it will be to deal with them later. I am incredibly disappointed. you will get your signed lease signed after 6-7 months , place will never be cleaned and when you move out they will check every corner which is contrary to what was done when we were moving in , filthy place ...must avoid! read more

The director of the leasing office, Diana, was so exceptionally unprofessional and is the sole reason we have decided not to deal further with this building. We have never met someone so disinterested and unconcerned ever in this type of professional setting. Her lack of interest was translated into inexplicable rudeness and we could not understand why she was giving such a nasty attitude. Whenever we had any questions, she wouldn't even have the decency to give us eye contact, let alone break a smile once in a while. We even tried writing it off and thought, maybe she was just having a bad day, but the same antipathy was repeated twice after causing us to lose complete interest in the very nice apartments in the building. It also appeared that the same sentiment resonated strongly with other residents when we casually asked an elevator with a few residents what their thoughts were of her and they all had nothing nice to say, to say the least...We would expect the service to match the quality of the product, but that was far from true. She was absolutely miserable. We'll go ahead and look elsewhere. read more
