This particular BJ's is very shortstaffed, so don't expect any assistance from anyone in any department. For reasons that defy logic, they have taken the aisle labels off, so you have to know what aisle to go in to find your desired product. No signs to help. Their inventory is large, selection appropriate, merchandise of all levels of quality, and an educated shopper can do quite well here. But you do need to know where you are going because it's like a scavenger hunt to find what you are looking for. read more

there are 10 or so self cash out lanes 20 items or less 15 items or less and 6 actual registers that humans are supposed to be working. Today 2 people working the actual registers and lines of customers with carts full behind them, while the self cash out has barely any one waiting. I asked the worked at self cash out if I could cash myself out with my cart and he told me "I can't allow you to do that". I asked if he could open another register and there's 11 people in each line with carts full and he said "sure no problem." 15 mins later still two human registers open and still 11+people in line. THIS IS RIDICULOU! if you don't want us to cash ourselves out in a store that sells BULK items why not actually have more humans working to facilitate the traffic of shoppers??? This kind of poor management and shopper experience is why more and more people shop online. Who doesn't love BJ's. I like giving BJ's... a good rating, but only if I think they deserve it. If you like BJ's in general, you might like this store, but honestly I don't love BJ's as much as most. I used to know someone who worked in this BJ's. Used to. I'm not a big fan of BJ's honestly. You have to pay a fee to be a member and you can get some good deals, but these days there's usually a great deal that you can get online that's better than the ones in here, and it almost doesn't seem worth it to pay a fee just to have the right to shop somewhere. I do think the member stores will someday be a thing of the past and it won't be too long before that comes to be the case for BJ's. My previous review said: I've heard that EVERYONE loves BJ's. I don't love BJ's as much as most people love BJ's. What can I say, I LOVE THIS STORE !!! The membership fee is so worth it, because I get so much stuff, in bulk and don't pay the high prices at regular stores. Today,is the first time I've been there in quite awhile & I was loving it. Plus, if u get the coupon books & actually remember to USE the coupons (lol), u really save a lot of money. I bought so much stuff today, from cat litter to 36 cans of Diet Pepsi, uncrustables (yum), to 2 cordless phones. (A lot more in between) and it only cost around $160. I really stocked up on things. I used the self checkout ,because the other lines were way too long. They have everything there !! Clothes, food, tv's, many other electronics. Cleaning supplies, pet products, baby supplies, bath products, office supplies, etc...... Another perk is their food & drink samples. I love going to each stand & trying what they're trying to sell. Today I drank a Choco shake protein drink & a grilled cheese sandwich. Both very yummy. I've actually gotten full on some days when I would bring my kids. We'd go to all the stands & sometimes they'd have more than one flavor of something & let us try them all. That would be our lunch. I have to say I really like BJ'S. The store isn't that much different than Sam's club. They offer clothes, outside furniture and wares, meat department, deli and produce. All the products are of good quality. The biggest difference between Sam's club and BJ's is this, coupons. You can actually shop with manufacturers coupons here. Now that we are in the covid pandemic, all the BJ coupons are available electronically. You must download their app, to use and receive the available coupons. Well worth giving BJ's a try. read more

I pick up the same things over and over here. Usually paper products and some drinks when I have a coupon. And of course ice cream. They moved the ice cream recently. But the choices have been expanded. Membership is up to $55 and I'll have to buy a lot of gas to make that worthwhile. I don't know that it is so may have to let the membership go. It's $60 for a year long membership, but if you get halfway through your year and realize you haven't been there since you signed up, you can go in and get refunded. Which is cool. -they have a million coupons at all times. Be sure to look through the many books to lower your costs. -they check your receipt at the door when you leave, have it ready! This is the place to go if you are looking to buy in bulk. But, it's not just bulk items. You can buy clothes, books, laptops, lawn furniture. Heck, we got our membership two weeks ago because we saw they had an awesome deal on a grill. So we got ourselves a grill. Oh BJ's you always come through. I don't shop you but a few times a year now. Summer for picnic and party supplies, winter for holiday party items but you treated me well when my son was eating me out of house and home. My go to for all the Gatorade, water and snacks needed to supply his athletes appetite. This store is very well maintained, no clutter or litter on the floors, and nice wide aisles in case someone needs the wheelchair cart. I think the prices for most products are not great, unless you have a coupon from one of their booklets and/or a manufacturer's coupon. Many produce items are priced higher than comparable items in a regular grocery chain, but paper products often have a coupon in the of the booklets mailed every few weeks to members and then the huge packages of toilet paper or paper towels can be a good deal. I am glad that BJ's recently lowered their annual membership as that was a deterrent to me to join. Paying $40 or more dollars per year wipes out any savings unless you are in a pretty big family. read more

I sat in the parking lot for my curbside order that ended up taking about 45 minutes to get the order. I had to fight for there of the six spots because people that aren't picking up their curbside orders insist on parking in these spots. They had one poor lady that was delivering these orders all by herself with zero help from anyone. I don't understand why they insist on having a single person managing the orders and not a fleet, like Target. The Amherst store needs to move their pickup slots away from the cart return, have more than one person doing Curbside orders, and add additional slots. I think it is crazy to work the poor curbside person to death without help. The management team needs to figure out how to handle people picking up their online orders, look at Target for inspiration. read more

Texas style American capitalism par excellence, the "must buy local" part of me sneers in contempt at this newly opened BJ's while the cost-conscious side of me cackles in delight. This BJ's is exactly what you would expect. It sells all sorts of different food and miscellanea in large to absurd quantities at discounted prices that, should you frequent the store often enough, will offset the ridiculous pay-to-purchase membership fee the store requires. On one hand, much of the produce department rivals a Tops, Dash's, or Wegman's. Though it doesn't offer an extensive selection or organic stuff and though its blueberries and strawberries are offensively large (and likely rather flavorless), prices on plantains, avocados, pineapples, arugula and so forth, in addition to the staples, are incredible. The quality is generally fair to good. The selection of meat offered rather amazed me. While sadly lacking in sausages and prepared meats, prices on chicken breasts, chicken thighs, and 93/7 ground beef, for example (see photo) can't be beaten. Additionally, this BJ's boasts ground bison, a good selection of lamb products, and beef liver and tripe at fantastic prices for you adventurous eaters. The bakery is A-OK. (But why on earth would you visit a BJ's, Tops, or Wegman's bakery when you could visit DiCamillo's or one of the other fine local spots around here?) Beer selection is limited to the major American brands plus Molson, Labatt, and Sam Adams. Sorry, no love for beer lovers. However, should you need to stock up for a large party, you can't do better than a 30-pack for $20, right? After filling up your cart with pallets of mineral water, boxes of boxes of Oreos, mutant berries, and giant wheels of cheese, I am pleased to report that you will be able to get in and out pretty quickly. With an unnecessary number of staffed checkout lanes and eight (I believe) self-checkout lanes, you will spend less time in line at BJ's than at the Wegman's just a few blocks away. Some additional credit should go to BJ's for finally filling the long-vacant spaces once home to Media Play and MJ Design. The plaza feels full for the first time I can remember, and their commitment to its rejuvenation extended to filling the infamous potholes once littering the parking lot. Fellow Yelpers, should your resolve crack and permit you to visit, you shouldn't be displeased by your experience whatsoever. From what I observed today, this BJ's location is trying to do enough right to merit confidence that you will leave with items enough to stock your pantry while not feeling abysmally frustrated, my usual emotion. (Three and a half stars for the store. Plus one star for rehabbing the plaza. Minus one half of a star for selling giant tins of Danish cookies and 2-pound jars of Marciano cherries. I was spoiled by Costco, I guess. However, BJs is a viable runner-up (and it accepts store coupons, something neither SamsClub nor Costco does). It's yor standard-issue warehouse club with a nice exception--it has a deli, with meats & cheeses sliced to order. it also offers self check out, which is handy if one has just a few items. There is no pharmacy at this location. There is a gas station with a separate (free) air dispenser. Parking is atrocious. There appears to be approximately 14 spaces dedicated to the store. One can always circle the lot until a group exits the Old Country Buffet, when several choice spots will become available. read more

Great prices on everything. You can do all you grocery shopping here bulk or regular. I love the fact that you get BJ coupons and you can use your regular coupon in conjunction with each other. For example; if your coupon is for $1 off an item and there are three items in a pack you can use a coupon for each. You dont have to be an extreme coupon cutter to accomplish this either. I recently went there under a free 3 month membership, went to the deli, there was 1 worker taking care of a customer, so I waited and then another worker came in and proceeded to cut some deli meats, no one ever acknowledged my presence, a nice "I'll be with you in a moment" would have been sufficient!!! BJ's is extremely overwhelming at first. I used to dread going because the store is so massive. However, I have learned to navigate the store and I am definitely a fan! The bulk prices are excellent. They have absolutely anything you could ever think of. It's like a wholesale version of Target. Although I need to mentally prepare myself for the amount of shopping I'm about to do, I always walk out of the store feeling extremely accomplished. They have everything from meat, fancy cheese and fresh fruit to outdoor Christmas decorations and bonsai trees. You'll never know what you're going to find. I have never once gone there without being able to find what I intended to purchase. It's just difficult because I also walk by several items that I didn't realize I needed to purchase (batteries, light bulbs, toiletries, crock pots), and I usually walk out of there spending at least $100, many times several hundred dollars. Recommendations: Do not go if you are in a hurry. Certainly be sure to grab a large shopping cart, even if you only plan on purchasing one item. read more

I usually come here to stock up on household items like tissues, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, etc. I also have found that this is a super conscientious place to shop if you are having a big party. They have cheaper prices per unit than other stores and now that I own a home with extra storage space, it's totally worth it to stock up. I have been shopping here for quite some time and I find that the customer service is sub-par. When I was returning an item another worker kept interrupting the woman who was helping me to ask her for help and tell her about a problem she was having. The return ended up taking 15 MINUTES!! I was pretty annoyed because that seemed excessive for a return that should have taken a few minutes. The lines are aLso usually quite long and I find that the self Checkouts more often then not require assistance from a store employee, so they rarely cut down on time. read more

The club itself is always clean and organized. Usually they have everything that I need in stock. My biggest complaint is the parking lot. It's very poorly designed and often parking is really tricky. If you forget your coupon book (or just need another one), go to the service desk and show your BJ's card and they will give you a new one. I have been a member at BJs for years, thanks to my mother! This place is great for anything pretty much, jewelry, TVs, clothing, books and of course food & gas! I'm here once a week for gas and the prices are hard to beat, the gas pumps open SUPER early, i think around 7am and close at 9pm. I will admit I wish they were open a bit later but that's okay. Also they offer FREE AIR for your tires! Something they should change is only allowing members to use the free air, you don't have to scan your card at all to use the air pump so non-members can come and use it. Even if you don't want to shop here the gas prices alone are worth the membership! They also have a little cafe inside with prepared meals and on-the-go drinks! Cheap beer as well and water, those are my go-to's when I shop there. The baked goods are also something I tend to end up buying when i go inside. read more

I've found that BJ's prices on allergy and pain meds are unbeatable. Even by other big box generic brands like WalMart. Of course, I feel like I sound like Ghostbusters character Louis Tully (AKA, Vince Glortho, the Key Master) for discussing this, like he did at his client-list house party (where he could write everything off as a result). Hahahahahaha! Regardless, I love buying in bulk when it's truly a deal. 10 lbs. of potatoes for $3.49?? 1 lb. (roughly 30 slices) of really good quality proscuitto for $9.99?? Sign me up!!!! Food and meds tend to be great deals, as are greeting cards, spices, olives, etc. I don't think toys, cosmetics, electronics, baked goods, books, and even clothes, etc are that great of a deal though. I like the set up of this BJ's more than the Clarence one. At least the grocery section seems easier to look at or something... So yeah, I'm a fan!! Now to get my hands on my own membership. Where do I start (as if most of you haven't already been to BJs...but this was my 1st hands on shopping experience. From the time I walked into the door there was fresh samples to indulge in... perfect for a hungry shopper as myself. I sampled teriyaki pork loins, pizza, perogies, and flavored water. I mean the science behind choosing to offer all of those samples is brilliant. Other supermarkets used to do it but as the years pass it's less and less and when they do there is not as many sample stands as this place. So now as far as the shopping goes....(because after all that's what I truly came for haha) I was very impressed with some of the deals they offered. On other items however, the sales seemed to be very similar to other grocery stores. The carts here are HUMUNGO and with a packed out day like Saturday it can get extremely congested. Now when it came time to check out this was congested too. They've got to do better about that. One good thing though is that staff will actually help put some of your items in the cart after you finishing ringing them in self checkout. I'd definitely love to come back here soon. read more
