I came in for a concern about a spot in my eye, and without much explanation, he immediately dismissed it as dirt and attempted to approach my eye with a needle. I was already feeling anxious and lightheaded, so I calmly asked if I could reschedule and bring a support person to help me manage my anxiety during the procedure. Instead of showing understanding or professionalism, he became extremely rude and dismissive. He repeatedly called me a "baby" and mocked my request for support, saying it was unnecessary and "stupid." I explained that I am neurodivergent and that having support is important for me, but he continued to belittle me. He then told me that if I didn't allow him to proceed immediately, he would refuse to see me again and asked me to leave his office. I left feeling humiliated and ended up crying in my car. No patient should be treated this way--especially when they are being open about their mental health needs. This was not only unprofessional, but completely lacking in empathy and basic respect. Through yelp, I found this place and read some positive reviews of Dr. Lee. I made an appointment for myself and two kids and we all had our eyes examined by Dr. Lee. He's friendly and I never felt rushed through our appointments. He made sure to answer all questions and concerns. When our exam is done, we have the choice to get our prescriptions written and head out to another place to shop and shop here directly. Honestly, I knew I needed the Asians fit so I browsed around to see what they have on stocked. It didn't take too long for me to fit 'the one' pair of frame. It was light weight, cute and fits my face perfectly. The best part is the frames are reasonably priced compared to my other Asian fit frame I purchased in north jersey. 20% discounts are given to customers who doesn't have insurance for frames and yes, unfortunately that applies to us. I'm happy with my glasses and so is my son. For my daughter, there were no change in her eyesight exam which is great as she can still wear her existing pair. Their staff is friendly and really try to work with the patients/customers. I have seen them on providing costs effective and solutions if you have any financial concerns.

Terrible Experience - Please Be Careful…read more I had my cataract surgery done here, and it turned into a nightmare. I went in with very high eye pressure, but they still went ahead with my left-eye surgery as scheduled. During surgery, my capsule broke. The surgery center didn't even have the proper lens for the sulcus, so I was left without a lens in my eye for two weeks. Later, they performed another surgery to implant the lens. Unfortunately, due to the trauma from the first failed surgery, my cornea became swollen, followed by consistent inflammation. Six months later, Dr. Kung told me that there were leftover fragments from my natural lens causing infection -- and that I needed a third surgery to remove them. All of this led to corneal edema, loss of vision, ongoing inflammation, and constant pain. After consulting two cornea specialists, both confirmed that the bad cataract surgery caused all of these problems. Now, the only solution left for me is a cornea transplant. I am terrified and deeply regret trusting this place. RUN -- do not risk your eyes or go through the misery I'm experiencing. On top of everything, they ran many tests on their machines and charged me a lot of money throughout this ordeal.

Dr. Roth didn't answer any of my questions, and seemed to be following a checklist. He pushed the eye device into my face rather hard, hard enough where it hurt when it impacted my forehead. My eye pressure was high--something that should not have been overlooked--but Dr. Roth failed to even notice it. After I brought it up, he quickly dismissed it, saying he'd "take care of it" as he rushed me out. Take care of it when? That kind of neglect is unacceptable. I literally have to go to a different doctor to redo the exam because this guy was so incompetent. This is not to mention that I was initially told vision therapy would be covered by my insurance, and then told the first part would be $1400 not covered by any insurance. The woman who answered the phone was very pleasant but then I was transferred to a different woman to verify insurance information. Family Eye Care's website states that they accept Davis vision plan so it seemed like all was well and that is what would be used for the eye exam. I was then asked what medical insurance I had so I said we have Tricare as we are a military family. This is when everything changed. Now I'm being told are don't accept THAT Davis vision. I then explained these two policies are not at all connected and my Davis vision plan is not connected to Tricare whatsoever as the medical plan is under my husband and the vision under myself. Totally separate. I was then told it's just our policy. So I said but you didn't even take down any of my information or policy information so how do you know you don't take my specific Davis policy without even checking and there is no connection to Tricare? At this point the woman began yelling and stated it is just our policy and slammed the phone down one me! Since there was no problem until I mentioned TriCare, it sounds like this practice has a problem with military insurance and therefore military families. I'm glad I know thank God I didn't bring my eight-year-old around these people. Military families especially: Stay away !!

By the way this is not only my professional opinion, but shared by any other eye care professional who is familiar with his work. In my opinion his work suggests not just competence but also a gift. His results just have this clean look. When seeing patients there is a lot patients bring to the table. They can smoke, be diabetic, have uncontrolled hypertension, as well as macular degeneration that can affect over all outcomes. So not every patient gets perfect results on every procedure. However Richard's outcomes are about as perfect as one could expect given any patient's circumstances. I actually went on to Yelp to see what the publics perception was of a very competent Ophthalmologist, and compare it to what I know professional's opinions are within the industry.
