Delicious and juicy pork chop!!! Service can be better, especially bringing to the table what was ordered instead of remembering what is missing.

Post-COVID, it's gotten worse year over year and now that Nicholini is closed, the buffet no longer stretches across the entire floor, it's limited to just Brasserie. The restaurant was packed to the gills pre-COVID but now only a handful of tables were occupied while we were there. Gone is the unlimited lobster, shrimp and other seafood and instead you'll get a platter with one of each and if you want oysters, you have to pay a surcharge of US$4 per piece. There's no longer a carving station and instead they put out a braised beef stew and another low quality item I can't even remember. The sushi/sashimi station is also gone and instead you'll get a pre-assembled fish bite of some kind. The live pasta station is still there but with mediocre selection, it's good but not something you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. The rest of the buffet is just so sad with very limited and low quality selections, there's a tuna fish salad on offer, need I say more? They're also stingy with their champagne, we had to ask for a refill a couple of times and they stopped pouring half an hour before closing. We've given this restaurant more chances than it deserves and this time we're saying goodbye to them for good. For the price that we paid which was over US$150 per person, there're better choices out there.

This is my favorite steak place in HK so far…read more I ordered a M9 Rib eye steak with steamed rice and sautéed spinach. The M9 Steak tastes amazing. The steak was very tender and juicy, making every bite melting in your mouth. Also, the steak had a good amount of salt, not needing to add more salt unlike most steak places I've tried. The steak had a good meat to fat ratio. The spinach was sautéed with garlic. The spinach had a very strong and delicious garlic flavor plus the perfect amount of salt and juiciness. Worth to try. Also, although the rice was just simple and steamed, the rice tasted good and it wasn't over cooked. The seating area was nice and had a nice outside view. Although the price may seem pricy, the food quality was totally worth it. Overall, very delicious meal and will come again to possibly try another dish. 10/10

That's also why it looked very busy too (soon people left after 8pm-ish as we were having the dinner). $49 isn't a bad deal, but the sparkling they serve was meh at best. You'd probably like to reserve a table next to the windows looking over the Victoria Harbour like I did. Chance is, you probably can't see much because of the reflection of the lighting from within the restaurant. (On that note, Aqua does the lighting the best to preserve the view). I'm pretty spoiled by the amazing view of Hong Kong already, but it doesn't hurt to enjoy the dinner next to it. We had to finish the dinner within 1.5 hours as we had a movie to watch at IFC after. We ordered foie gras and crab cake as starters. As for the main course, we ordered a scallops risotto, and a Le French May special, duck confit with pork belly and sausage. We ordered a carafe of Pinot Noir from Burgundy, too. The wine is okay. I wanted to see the Pinot Nior from Burgundy actually has the color of burgundy red, but it was just the pale-y red an average Pinot Nior would have. Good enough for a Thursday night, I guess. Foie gras was good. Not amazing, but decent. When foie gras's done right, there's nothing much to talk about but there's nothing much to complain either. Crab cake was also good, but I didn't expect the same black truffle sauce you would put on truffle fries. I could afford better, now it's a matter of if the restaurant plays up the game a little bit. Otherwise I could have prepared the same dish with the sauce I bought from CitySuper downstairs. Scallops were fresh and they taste good, but the risotto was served separately. Like rice, I get that people have different preference of how the risotto should be made, and I have no problem with serving it separately. Duck confit tastes very good, but too well done to a point it's a bit dry? Pork belly was good too, but I missed the Japanese yakitori version of pork belly. Again, spoiled kid in HK who has all the great food and great cuisine. Also - we made that clear we had to rush for a movie and asked them to serve the main course as soon as they were ready, but they were only served until 15mins after we finished the starters. Not a full house either, so I wasn't sure if our message didn't deliver clearly, or the kitchen was actually busy. Otherwise, pretty attentive staff, nice decor, and could have done better with the food for a restaurant that's under the name of Mira Group.

With indoor-outdoor seating on a relatively calm portion of Wong Nai Chung road, St. Germain is a relaxing spot for a drink. One very nice feature is that they still allow you to bring your dogs to the outside area, which Happy Valley Bar and Grill and The Jockey no longer do. So, St. Germain has supplanted these two spots for dog beers. I would be remiss if I failed to mention the excellent service from the bar staff and waitresses. They are friendly and efficient, checking in to make sure your glass does not sit empty, and they always offer bowls of water to the dogs. Although the beer is more expensive than its neighbors, St. Germain's Stella on draft is always amazingly ice cold. I'm not sure how they keep their beer colder than all the other bars, but it's incredibly welcome on hot summer evenings. The bar menu is also excellent for a snack or a cheese/charcuterie board to share. I am particularly fond of the Croque Monsieur -- oozing with cheesy goodness and crisped to perfection, and accompanied by greasy-in-good-way hand cut fries. One of these days I'll probably get around to trying the restaurant, but for now it's a great spot to enjoy a really cold beer with the pups.

AV is one of the more pricy options (probably the most pricy, actually), but I felt that the quality and taste of the food was excellent, the service was friendly and the atmosphere was inviting. I got the rib eye, which was the first that rivaled Tango, my favorite HK steakhouse. On the side you get a limitless house salad which was very light and fresh. We also ordered the hash browned potato which had mozzarella filling. Absolutely delicious. The price for that plus my wife's sea bream entree and a few glasses of wine was a high, but not prohibitive 950HKD. So AV isn't a once a week place, but it's a great treat that's right in the neighborhood.

Soho and the Hollywood Road area always seems a bit quiet on Sundays. I did my research and visited their website. Their full sized pictures on the website attracted me as it seemed to have a decent menu and the ambience looked great. Tucked away in a side street just off Hollywood Road, Cocotte is a small Parisian restaurant that has a very "elegant" interior design. There weren't many people in the restaurant on a Sunday night and I thought it was just perfect to have a quiet date night there. When it comes to the food, there was nothing bad about it, but I just felt that it was missing something. I ordered a lobster bisque to start and a steak for the main course. I really like lobster bisque in general but nothing about Cocotte's lobster bisque surprised me. For the steak, it had really nice plating but I felt that the portion was too small for me and for the price. I guess I was somewhat disappointed that there was nothing special as it makes you feel like you could find similar food just anywhere, not to mention the food is a bit overpriced. Trust me, the food was good but just not enough for me to find another excuse to come back again. Hence the 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars.

Maybe not the stars, but if you let your imagination loose a little you just might see something... The restaurant is a little bit smaller than the others along the D Deck but its outdoor seating is more than adequate to host a gathering of people. The staff's attitude to the customer left me speechless, really. It was as if they actually enjoyed what they were doing, were constantly smiling, polite, and on top of the order. It's such a selling point, in any area of business, to be able to handle a customer well, which is why I'm surprised no one else does it like these guys - not around Disco Bay anyway. The staff make the wait for food bearable, and I'd happily go back just to experience the standard of service again. The food itself was a much-needed change to the generic western menus of some of the restaurants these days. I mean, come on! Burgers, fajitas, a couple salads, risotto, and pizza, let's see something different. I learnt here, at 22 North, that steak did not need ketchup and french fries, not when it's cooked to perfection with a side of potato gratin. It looked so good on my plate that I didn't want to spoil it. Hunger eventually overcame awe before the meal grew cold and I devoured it. Half way through the meal the Belgian head chef, a cheerful fellow always cracking off jokes, came to see how we were doing. All our mouths were too stuffed to respond. There is actually nothing negative I can say about the place. It's just as expensive as the neighboring restaurants but the food and service is a rung or two higher. A top spot to go for a date or treat for yourself.
