We liked it enough to buy a frozen tourtière to take home, and also picked up the steak and Guinness pie since apparently that's their most popular one. The lighting inside is quite dim, which creates a vibe but also makes the menu a bit hard to read if you don't have the best vision. We wanted to try the carrot cake since it's mentioned in so many reviews, but it was sold out. Will have to come back and try that next time.

They serve ice cream at Savary Island Pie Company? Yup. They do now. I don't know when they started selling ice cream at this place but my bro was in the know and...well how could I turn down an opportunity for ice cream? Of course I would make room for it! When we got to the shop I was a bit confused with the setup cuz I recalled there being tables where people could sit down to eat. A bit of investigating cleared up my confusion. The space that I remembered, with tables and chairs was still around; it was just next door. It seems the Savary Island Pie Company expanded their space, and so the new space is the part that is now operating as an ice cream parlour. The guy working there was kind enough to let us sample some flavors before purchasing. After trying Apple Pie Salted Caramel and Dulce de Leche I decided to get Dulce de Leche in a cup. This is one of my favourite flavors to get when we buy Haagen Dazs ice cream. Kind of a family favourite I guess cuz a couple of other people in the family also ended up ordering Dulce de Leche! It's old fashioned style creamy ice cream. They do also have a few vegan flavors too though. What a treat! Ummm...I really should come back though to have some of their pie sometime since they are after all, supposed to be known for their pie and not their ice cream! Holy smokes, the Acai bowls here are massive. We were soooo full. If we ever come here again, we will just share one bowl with each other. Not sure that we will come here again though. The Acai bowls weren't bad but I've had better. I feel it could have been a bit sweeter. I was not impressed with my mom's Avocado Toast. I could see my mother struggling to cut her Avocado Toast so it seems the crust was quite hard. She ended up leaving a lot of the crust on her plate and just ate the middle of the bread. On the website I had seen Avocado Toast, sandwiches, wraps and Salmon Lox Bagel. I was quite dismayed to walk into this place and not see any of that stuff written on the menu. There was a small sign by the cashier that said to ask about Avocado Toast. I guess by the same token, I would have had to ask about Salmon Lox Bagel. Why make us ask about it? Why not just include it on the huge menu that was up on the wall? Might have made life easier when it came to ordering something for my mom who isn't into Acai bowls like us. This place seems to be somehow shared with Bean Around the World coffee shop which is right next door. There's no wall separating the two shops. You can walk from Anchor Eatery straight into the coffee shop next door. We ended up taking our food and drinks from Anchor Eatery and sitting next door at Bean Around the World coffee shop. Assumed it was allowed since there was no separation between the two shops and nobody tried to kick us out of the coffee shop.

Daughter ordered the same breakfast sandwich that she ordered last time along with a mocha, and I ordered the Adult Mac n Cheese with a London Fog. There were a couple of hiccups this time. First of all they mixed up my daughter's drink order. Instead of a mocha they made her a hot chocolate. It looked like a wonderful hot chocolate, with a lovely heap of whipping cream on top but it was not what she ordered. So they took it away and made the mocha that she ordered. Then there was my order. My Adult Mac n cheese comes with toast. When they asked which kind of bread I would like for my toast, I asked if I could have the curry baguette bread which is usually used for their Shrimp Melt sandwich. They misunderstood and thought I was changing my order from Mac n Cheese to the Shrimp Melt sandwich itself! Nope, that's not what I wanted. I still wanted the Mac n Cheese but was just wanting to have the curry baguette bread as my "toast" since the Mac n Cheese comes with toast. When they finally realized what I was actually asking for, they then told me they couldn't do that. They only use the curry baguette for the Shrimp Melt sandwich. So then I chose sourdough to go with my Adult Mac n Cheese. It was very noisy in the shop this time. The noise level really turned off my mom. She ate up just a bit of scone, left the rest, didn't even finish her tea and then left to go walk in the IGA supermarket nearby just to escape the noise. My daughter and I finished up as quickly as we could so that we could go join my mother in the supermarket. I left first and when my daughter came to find us in the supermarket she said the people at The Bakehouse gave us a bag with 3 cookies in it for free, as a token gift for the troubles we went through in having 2 of our orders mixed up that day. I ate one of the cookies later in the day. It seemed like some kind of shortbread cookie with frosting sandwiched between it. Too sweet for my taste but I very much appreciated the gesture. I think it shows very good customer service. Don't think we'll go back there with my mother again as we'd rather not risk subjecting her to the extreme noise level again. My daughter and I would happily come back together though as we love the food there, and were very impressed with the service. Yes, they botched up our orders but how a restaurant redeems themself from a mistake says just as much about an establishment as not making a mistake in the first place. Impressed with the recovery they made, so in spite of the mistakes...still giving them a good rating!

Stepping into others' imprinted snow footsteps trying not to slip and fall onto the newly fallen snow, we made it into Cafe Crema in West Vancouver. The first thing with this place that gets you is the vibe. Mood lighting, lovely high tables and plenty of space. You can sit there, and daydreaming in this place is highly encouraged preferably with a glass of bold red and a slice of Margherita Pizza. I didn't really know what I wanted, which rarely happens, but this was one of those special occasions where you just let spontaneity take over. I was going to just have a coffee, but as I approached the register area to order my Americano, I kept seeing this glimmer in the corner of my eye. It was quite bright, but just a glimmer, so I looked over and it was just this muffin sitting there in the display. I asked the cashier what muffin that was, and I was told that it was the Vegan Banana Chocolate Muffin. "Vegan?" I asked. He said, "Yup." I almost walked away trying to find something else, but the damn thing looked so good. So, reluctantly I decided to try a Vegan Muffin. I said to myself, "well, what's the worst that could happen? I'll just throw it out if I don't like it." That winking-luring Vegan muffin was so good that it actually trumped many of the dairy based muffins I've had in the past. I'll tell you how and why. First, it was rich, creamy, dense, moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. You could taste the Cocoa and hint of Banana and nuts throughout. As much as all the ingredients together gave the muffin its wonderful taste, you could also taste each component individually. I don't have a sweet tooth at all, and it's rare to find me ordering desert or eating muffins. I ate this damn thing like I just discovered the taste of sweet for the first time. Between this awesome Vegan muffin, the great Americano and this cozy little lamp on the table and the beautiful glowing white snow on Bellevue Drive, this indeed was a memorable experience and a one time love affair with a Vegan Muffin. (No, I hadn't smoked anything that day.)
