I live a little out of town so I do not get to go as much as I'd like to. I have been coming here…read moreever since they opened. I think their food is very good. They have a buffet that they are constantly refreshing and it has a lot of choices to pick from. But you can also order off the menu that has a large selection to choice from. I've never got anything here that wasn't good. Normally I get the buffet but also order off menu at times. I've never had any food that tasted bad or anything like that. My favorite is the chicken on a stick, the chicken stir fry, chicken bites and the crab cooked in butter and onions. It's delicious. They have several options in noodle and rices. They also have really good egg rolls and wontons. Yummy! They are always nice and friendly and help anyway they can. I think their food prices are good. You can take food out or eat in . They are by far the best Chinese food here. They have nice booths and a few tables also . The only negative thing I could say is , it is hard sometimes to get a parking spot but that doesn't have anything to do on them. It's in a shopping center area, but it worth walking a little further every now and then. I recommend them. They just remodeled so haven't been since they opened back up but it's probably just fine. Can't wait to go back.

This place feels like your traditional mom and pop restaurant where you can get a home cooked meal. When I got there, I was greeted by kind host who took me to my seat. There is plenty of seating to dine in as well as an area to wait with seating for carry out orders. The waitress was waiting on me was also very kind. My food came out quickly, and I also ordered carryout which also came out quickly. I ordered the catfish platter with a baked potato and macaroni and cheese. The fish was crispy and well seasoned. The macaroni and cheese was really good and the baked potato, was your standard baked potato. All of my food came out hot and fresh. The price point here is also something that you cannot beat. I also ordered a half-and-half to wash it all down. The next time I am in Marion, I will definitely be back to this restaurant to try some of their other offerings as well as their desserts.

My husband and I just moved to the area last week, and our realtor highly recommended this place…read more It has a very laid-back atmosphere, nothing fancy, with a nice view of the river. The service was a bit slow, as there were only two servers for a full dining room and the bar. But our server was friendly and attentive, and we genuinely enjoyed our interaction with her. We didn't mind the slowing down either, as it's been a busy week, and after all, it's riverside dining. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the food and the view. We ordered the grilled shrimp basket with fries (my husband had the sweet potato fries), and we really enjoyed our meal. Basket came with two delicious hushpuppies and cole slaw. We moved here from the Gulf (Baldwin County, AL), where seafood is the specialty, so we didn't expect perfection, but we were pleasantly surprised at the quality and taste of the shrimp. The prices were very good, too. This same meal would've been nearly double the price at the Gulf. We'll definitely be back soon!

Me and my Fiancé usually always enjoy our food when we visit The Sandbar. This most recent visit…read morethough, was very unexpected. We were met with our usual burger-- but without any flavor. It fell apart into pieces as if it was grounded up for taco meat. I genuinely thought something may have been up with the fridge or something... but we were told it was just fresh beef and that they've never used any seasoning for their burgers. I was so confused... How did our previous burgers taste absolutely delicious and these tasted dull? Slimy? I'm not even sure how to describe the taste or texture honestly. "Well if you've been here before, what's wrong with what you ordered?" Was a response from one of the ladies behind the bar. If anything, I feel as though us saying it usually has SO much flavor is a huge compliment... we were just curious and still intended to pay for our meal. $60 dollars later, me and my fiancé agreed that we would be taking a break from The Sandbar for a little while.

We visited the 5 & Dime for lunch on Jan 9, 2026 as part of Road Scholar's "The Civil Rights…read moreMovement - Atlanta, Montgomery, Selma, Birmingham" program. At first glance, it looked more like a mix of an art studio and a meeting house. On one side of the main room is the dining area complete with eclectic furniture. On the other side is a long counter table cluttered (intentionally) with paper artwork, paint bottles, boxes, a wall section of workshop tools that includes a power drill, among many other things. Surrounding the dining area are smaller tables filled with trinkets for sale akin to a souvenir shop. Food was already prepared buffet style when we arrived. The owner AC Reeves welcomed us as we took our seats. While I do not care for the cuisine, it was reasonably good and filling. I enjoyed the chicken nuggets and the dish (which I'm somewhat sure contained fish) that had bell peppers and onions. (Sadly, the dishes were not labeled so I'm going by my not-so-reliable memory.) Beverage was provided at the counter near the doorway leading to the restrooms, and manned by a waiting staff. Service was stellar. In addition to at least two helpings of food, I had a can of Coke and a bottled water. In contrast to the appearance of mess and antiquity of the dining area, the bathrooms are pristine. (Okay, the men's; I did not verify if the women's is similar.) But stalls are limited to one standing urinal and one toilet seat. I had to wait at least 5 minutes for my near 80-year-old roommate to finish his business before using the latter. Very rare does a restaurant stays true to its principles through thick and thin. In 5 & Dime, the cuisine is a means to an end, that end being social capital. As AC points out on the chalkboard, it is the sharing of experience and social fellowship (via food) in an environment of mutual respect that is the "product". I had a brief one-on-one chat with AC. She mentioned being in the Tar Heel State; I mentioned that my son will be majoring in fine arts this fall. While 5 & Dime isn't my kind of place, it succeeds in its stated objective. For those that are into this kind of dining experience, this place is for you.
