Must try, especially if you're craving some Asian/PI flavor in your life. They're on a mission to bring boba to the community in Selma, too, ya'll. Sweetest staff members. They were cranking out fresh food as we walked in (we definitely missed the lunch time service, since it was about 2pm when we walked in). Tasted like homemade Filipino food, like stuff my friends' moms and grandma would make. They shared that it's hard to get seasoning and ingredients they need; often have to drive an hr or more to get to a grocery store with stuff they need. Hope you'll consider supporting them and trying out Filipino food! Pancit: 4/5 because I swear my stomach is an endless pit when it comes to pancit. I wanted a plate full. I had the pancit (rice noodle) with tiny ground beef fried spring rolls. Both were excellent but it was the beef brisket soup that stole the show. I didn't even order it. The lovely owner gave me a taste test gratis. I'm in love. The soup had whole peppercorns in it in addition to a lovely rich beefy flavor, tender brisket, crisp tender carrots that still had their carrot taste. I shed a tear of joy for the peppercorns alone! I was not a fan of the chicken or the beef on white rice but I did order a fruit/vegg salad thinking of the huge mounds of tropical vegg on trips to the Philippines. The salad was nice but green olives are far too salty for me and wanted something raw. I think Selma may be too far from the tropics for lots of greens. The chef says he'll introduce green items including green mango (and papaya) cautiously. I'll return to find out. A Philippine fish dish is coming next. I may have to return this weekend. read more

This is our first time at Bistro Manila. Very friendly and helpful people. Very good Ambience. We had the Lumpia, rice, Beef Calderetta, Chicken Adobo and their noodles. We only give reviews to those places that we will forever talk about. We had the best lunch and would return in a heartbeat! This is not a buffet like you may think when first entering - you find a place and are served. The owners do a solid by explaining the menu choices We had the beef calderada and chicken adobo combos. with a little Sinagang. The meats had the most amazing sweet and savory. Enjoyed lunch at Bistró Manila today in downtown Selma. What a great addition to our town! We were greeted warmly and proceeded to the stream table at the rear of the restaurant. The staff explained the lunch options and we were excited to try Filipino cuisine. They even gave us tastes of the beef and pork broths. I would like to try the Beef Nilaga soon, but opted for the Pansit and Lumpia Shanghai today. They were both , but I did save a small portion of the pansit to bring home for my husband to try. The chef came by to ask how we were enjoying the meal. He then brought us out some Silver Swan soy sauce and key lime halves to enhance our Pansit. Yummy! The Lumpia resembles skinny eggrolls with a beef filling--don't forget their yummy dipping sauce! We were very glad we visited this new restaurant and look forward to returning. Only ding was eating on Styrofoam plates and plastic utensils. However the delicious food and friendly folks proudly sharing their culture trumped that. They are serving dine-in and take-out lunches Sunday-Friday and Friday evening dinner right now. Recommend you check them out! read more

My friend and I stopped for lunch at Bistro Manila honestly because it was the only place open on Memorial Day weekend (Monday 2024). But what a great experience! The staff were super welcoming and friendly, and the food was delicious, fresh, and included pork chop or pork skewer hot off the outdoor grill with the lunch special. We were visiting Selma to experience Civil Rights history and culture, and Bistro Manila is just down the street from the famous Edmund Pettis Bridge. The restaurant staff (owners?) shared lots of helpful information about sites to visit and people to speak with. A comfortable, positive place to dine and support a young local business. read more
