Did Bishop's change ownership? I went in on a Sunday (which was probably my first mistake), and felt like I stepped in to a time warp. I had the pleasure of being reunited with the lovely sounds of Michael Bolton's Greatest Hits the entire time I was there. Now I am a woman of a certain age, and I can appreciate a little MB from time to time, no problem. All I came in for was a cut (blunt long), shampoo and a special conditioning treatment. I knew it wouldn't be cheap, because well, what is. My hair is barely trimmed at all and still has a ton of split ends. We even agreed in the mirror together how much to trim off. There was a language barrier, which could have also been another thing. I explained to the girl that I have been losing a ton of hair, and so after the wash she began round brushing and blow drying my hair straight from being soaking wet. I have never had a hair dresser do this before. I paid 159.00 and some change for a blow out essentially. I'm giving two stars - one because the girl was actually sweet, and I only had to drive for 2 minutes to get here. Maybe just don't go on a Sunday. read more

I would not recommend this place for a chic short haircut. I asked for a blunt sitting-at-the-shoulder length cut and for my curtain bangs to transition out (inspo photo attached). My first red flag was that Rachel cut my hair dry, but I decided to trust the process. However, it looked crooked, so I asked her to wet my hair with the spray bottle and look again in case I want to straighten my hair. She did fix some things but the second round I was still not satisfied. I was too scared to ask her to fix it again and have it be shorter (it was above my shoulder now), so I left the salon. Do not under any circumstances go here. I'd I could give it one star I would. Lisa was the one doing my hair. Tonight was my homecoming and I wanted my hair in an updo with braid crown. So I called them and they confirmed that they could. We got there and they confirmed once again they could do it. So they blow dried and curled my hair. They start to do the hairstyle and then they called in another person to do it too. Neither of them had done it before. We gave them a couple of tries but in the end it was very unprofessional. Finally we said that that's enough after the 4th attempt. At this point my hair was just curled but not in an updo. I just wanted to pay for the curling and leave , they wanted to keep trying to the point where my mom had to ask Lisa to let go of my hair. Lisa also kept arguing with my mom. Payment process was extremely unprofessional. She had to void the transaction once and then have us pay again. So if you don't want bad hair for an event and an extreme headache then don't come here. $50 for the worst experience of my life. P.S: In the end they lied about telling us they could do the updo saying that "we never said we could" so here's the screenshots in case they try to cover it up. read more

Come here if you want service like a carwash... The receptionist was great. The woman with the short black hair was great as well. She washed my hair and blow dried it. The older woman with long hair who actually cut my hair was not the best. She didn't listen to what I wanted and wasn't very helpful. She was in a rush to get the next person in her chair. She cut my hair and then told me to move to the other side... so I got up and had my hair dried. I wasn't too happy with my haircut, but she was already cutting someone else's hair. This place is awesome for an overall hair cut experience. The moment you enter you notice the cool ambience and music they are playing. Also they offer you a beer, sparkling water or just water while you wait for your hair dresser. I got a short hair cut from Jessica and she is really friendly and discusses your hair grooming needs well. Very funky interior. Reminds me of a barber shop and Sephora and a hip hotel lobby during happy hour. Really friendly staff and pretty good technique (I've gone to the best stylists in NYC and South Korea, so have some high expectations). We only had a cut today for my daughter but Lila was funny and had good technique. Now, the only thing I did not like was that while it's an a la carte place, I still felt like I needed to see the hair styled to see if the cut was uneven. Lila offered to fix anything if we came back within 7 days, but I could just imagine the drama at home if my daughter's hair were to be a bit uneven. So I paid extra to have it straightened and then the uneven edges were tamed. I'm spoiled. My stylists in both NYC and Korea would have straightened it to check as part of the service. I got an offer in the mail for a free haircut from Bishops so I decided to check it out! They take walkins and all you have to do is sign in on an iPad when you get there. I was second in line and they only had one station open when I got there, understandable for a Wednesday at 3pm. The wait wasn't too long anyways. They have a lot of great hair products for sale there and you also get 20% off retail if you get it when you get your hair done. The lady who did my hair was very personable and gave me a great experience. I just got a trim so it wasn't anything crazy but she did an awesome job. My hair costs about $40 to get cut which is much better than where I was going previously. I will definitely be back for my haircuts and possibly look into getting color here. read more

I was looking for a new barber and came across this new barber shop near my home so I decided to scope it out. I loved the urban touch inside but that's the only good feedback I have for this barber shop at the moment. I scheduled an appt with Armando earlier this afternoon and asked for a low drop fade. The barber was unsure what this was so I showed the gentleman what a low drop fade looks like with various Instagram pics. That still wasn't enough as he completely botched the back of my head! This fade was by far the worst I've ever received and it's not even close. The back of my head resembled the stock market the past 6 months with graph like ups and downs. After complaining, the older gentleman tried to fix it not once, not twice, but three times after which I gave up and left to my usual barber shop to fix this hot mess. Needless to say, I definitely learned my lesson and won't be back. read more

Walked in on Sunday 12/30 and there was only one customer on the chair. I just didn't have energy to deal with appts in posh hair salon places near Pleasanton. Not sure how busy it gets during the week days. Feng checked me in and had cut my hair. He was easy to talk to, without overdoing. Feng did a nice job with my long layers. My hair is pretty thick, so he really had to work the hair:) Prices are affordable. Probably will go back to see him for my next haircut. Although, he does not do color. I booked an appointment here with Jessika. She was nice and did my hair ok the first time. The second time I made an appt with here she left me to stay and hang out in the back room. My hair color didnt get any lighter cause she didnt put me under the heater. When it was time to pay, she had her co-worker ring me up and didnt bother to ask if I would like to come back so that she can finish the job she started. Both sessions with her was $170 not including tips. I would recommend going with someone else. Experience was all great. Was very disappointed in the results and the stylist argued with me when I asked for something different/ asked how it could be fixed to my liking throughout the process and at the end. I wish I never paid. I just went to a different salon to get my hair cut that should have happened here and the stylist was appalled that I paid for this. Very patchy and unprofessional. I wish that the stylist would have told me that what I wanted wasn't achievable before she started and ruined by hair. Do not recommend to anybody. After checking the services provides on their website, i took appointment for deep conditioning treatment. When i reach there my stylist applied the deep conditioning mask without doing shampoo which i found strange. I didn't bother much because I already did shampoo before coming to salon. Then she asked me, do i want to blow dry my hair, i said off course isn't it include? She denied saying its add on for another $25. I told her it's mentioned in your website that deep conditioning does include shampoo, conditioning and blow dry and I believe you didn't do the shampoo as well. She asked me to show the website where it's mentioned, i did show her. Then she spoke with the girl in cash counter and came up with "that blow dry means normal drying to not let you leave in wet hairs, not included any brush or styling". I am not asking you to style it but you go any salon, they do blow dry using flat or round brush and they completely deny for this. On top of this, my stylist deep shampoo after conditioning. I have no issues paying you extra but that's not what mentioned in your website and please google for what blow dry means. Also please correct the service description in your website. I have been regular to many salon for cut and conditioning and everyone does blow dry using brush. My hair doesn't look like deep conditioned at all because of your random blow drying using just fingers. read more

I actually don't want to give this place a single star. Is it possible to leave a no star rating? The employees of this establishment completely ignored me. I don't understand why. I looked okay. I was behaving normally. I was even wearing a mask. I was in the vicinity so decided to give this place a try. I usually go to Supercuts where, as soon as you go in, a staff member takes the time to greet you and inform you what the waiting status is, etc. Not at this place. I went in, sat in the waiting area quietly for 15 minutes, and all that time not a single staff member checked in with me to inform me how long the wait is for walk-ins or something! And they weren't that busy! One of the employees had time to chitchat with another customer; all the while, I was just sitting there completely ignored. They acted like I didn't belong there and that I should take my business elsewhere, which I am more than happy to do so. Never stepping foot at this place again. Ironically, there's a sign on their door that says, "No judgments." Yet, I felt completely judged by this establishment. I went to Amber for the first time and what she did for my hair is amazing!!!, especially considering I had ruined it with years of home coloring. I am 54 yrs old and Amber brought back my hair's luster, corrected the bad coloring and covered a lot of gray. Amber is super talented and also spent the time to better understand what I wanted, which was a warm dark blond that looked like it was sun kissed and not big blocky highlights. The hair cut was fine. Nothing special even though I was there for an hour. I could have gotten the same thing at a beauty college. Not personable hair stylist. I just had my first visit yesterday with Bishop's Pleasanton and I will happily say I am a fan! I made arrangements and planned a 5:30pm visit (Thanks Richa!) to get the works: cut, wash, and style. I've had an awkward grow-out from a bob hairstyle i've been wearing for 6 months and I really needed a serious cleanup! I arrived and signed in about 10 minutes ahead and was quickly greeted by Lila!
