    Cheap Monday sweater I bought
    Lesley M.

Broke out of my comfort zone and went into a retail establishment this weekend. Gasp! Full retail prices?! Luckily, there were sales. Good ones! Every time I go in there seems to be a great sale happening. I picked up a Cheap Monday sweater for $39. It was more than half off, so I couldn't leave it. As BEAUTIFUL as the spring goodies were, it's Full blown winter here, so bring on the winter clearance! I gave Biscuit 5 stars because I love everything they bring in. They sell every sub brand of free people, their own label, Levi's, and you know.. Everything else good. I find the new lay out the best in years, and the selection of items bang on. I feel like I'm big city shopping when I walk into biscuit. Best part is - I'm shopping local!

Attention girls and boys, Biscuit is fully stocked with summertime goodness. As I did a Saturday morning browse, my visit to Bisc assured a home run for warm weather classics. The store is looking great with all the semi-recent renovations, new clothes, stylish staff, and lastly-- the popcorn machine. Munch and crunch your way through the lovely designs of Kenzie, Free People, Valerie Dumaine and more. The store's new-ish Twitter account provides a peek of what's to come for fall with some Free People pieces, and WHEW-- things seem promising. I heart Biscuit and the wholesome vibes it provides. A longtime staple in the downtown area, my recent trip tested my gears pretty good. For those interested, the store is currently offering 30% off all shoes and accessories this weekend. I must hold back for now, but will be sure to head down again soon.

Biscuit General Store is a nice store, but I found it a little over priced. It does carry some trendy items and has a good selection for various age groups. The store is in two sections which is pretty cool. One side carries shoes and handbags with some of the more business cloths. The other side has some pretty neat items, such as the small picnic table with the salt, pepper, mustard and ketchup. They do have I am sure a loyal clientele. But I would not be doing a lot of shopping here. The staff was nice, one hello and then they left us alone.

I also love that there are just the few sizes of each style so you aren't seeing EVERYONE wearing your cool new top, or whatever.

Learning the ways of retail, his cuteness is the perfect way to begin this endeavor. What a sweet little shop. Although its been open for about ten years, I'd only recently learned of Wildflower from an acquaintance. Its confines are currently dressed in soft, breathable garments and assuring color palates. (Periwinkle, charcoal, rose pink, nude, and flecks of colour amongst it all!) Its actually a breath of fresh air, and a different variety from other independent boutiques in the area. I was elated to discover the accumulation of Free People frocks, which is probably my favorite [semi] affordable brand of all time. The owner mentioned that they would be getting more in soon-- whoo hoo! The overall stock seems romantic, flowing, and of excellent taste. Cute tops, rich fabrics and cuts are here for the taking. I think its safe to say that Wildflower has Bohemian Romantic down. The owner of the shop offered me genuine conversation and an easy shopping experience. I was the only patron at the time, so we chatted as I browsed. There was no pressure, no facade-- just good conversation and a shop full of wonders. After much swooning and chit-chat, I know this is a boutique I can dig. Besides the clothes, there were also some pretty neat accessories. I'd say the owner of Wildflower has a great eye. Understated, funky, classic and bohemian looks are all fused into one cohesive collection. All you need is a paycheck. xo

This store is pretty tiny though and they do manage to have a reasonably sized sale section. Very nice staff! Check out the hand bags! Expensive but just the right size: Big enough to carry your laptop, sweater and a few grocery items without looking as though you carry your home on your back like a snail. Mainly leather too! Really the only downside to Wildflower is the cost but check them out for their sale rack and accessories!

I've already fallen in love with half a dozen things in here. Especially a certain Lowell leather bag, a new pair of yoga jeans, and a beautiful stone necklace. All made right here in good old Canada. There is nothing I like better than shopping local, plus supporting Canadian makers. The clothing in here was so cute! A great mix of professional yet fun things for the office and stuff to sweat in. I loved the dresses and skirts in here, I can't remember the brand now, but the fabrics were a dream! Fantastic quality. You have to check out this spot, you will fall in love.

A lot of it is a little bit out of my price range, being just out of school, but man would I love to own everything in this store. I managed to pick up an adorable pair of minimalist earrings after speaking with the shop clerk for a while. She was probably the best part of the experience- friendly, and was really helpful and real with giving recommendations suited to my interests and budget. I ended up there a few times over a couple of days, and she always remembered me, and even asked if I'd had a chance to try out the earrings yet! Wonderful experience overall :)

Or as my husband would say "it a place for hippies." They had lots of cool sterling silver jewelry from Thailand. The prices were quite reasonable too. They had lots of earrings and bracelets in the $10-$25 range. I really didn't look at much else in the store, but they had beads, wooden knick knacks, pillows, and clothing that looked like they were from Nepal, Indonesia and Thailand, among other things. I loved these kinds of stores in my middle school and high school years, but it's not quite my aesthetics anymore, with the exception of the jewelery, because I still love sterling silver, it's the most suitable metal for my colouring. I had a great time browsing their large jewelery section. I almost bought the cutest bracelet, but it was a tad too big for me :( Staff were very nice. I always stop by when I'm in Halifax to poke around a bit, and be reminded of my style as a teenager, lol.
