Doing this prevents the rice/salad from getting soggy or weighed down by the sauces and moisture while it sits. You can keep everything crisp and mix it right when you're ready to eat. On top of the amazing poke, you have to get a drink from their matcha selection. It is consistently smooth, rich, and delicious without being overly sweet.

I ordered the Vietnamese coffee and the bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich and added the chipotle sauce. The drink was the perfect amount of sweetness and coffee! The chipotle flavor was delicious on the sandwich. Sometimes these types of sauces can overpower the other flavors, but it complemented the whole sandwich so well!

Recently came back to Z South for an early dinner in between my friend's daughter's dance recitals…read more It took a minute for them to put the table together since there were 7 of us. We ordered Shirley temples in honor of our favorite little performer. But I stuck to my favorite tacos for my entree. I got an al pastor taco and a shrimp taco with rice and beans. Everything tasted great and the service was perfect!

I've eaten at Z South 4 times in the 3 years since I moved to Fallbrook/Bonsall…read more The restaurant choices in general really suck in this area IMO but the 1st 3 times I ate at Z South, it was decent. Pleasant patio seating, friendly staff and an OK braised short rib taco. This past (and last) time was a terrible experience. The TVs on the patio were too loud (it was 2pm - hardly anyone there - no need for them to be on at all), the waitress was not very bright or friendly and the food was disgusting. Repeat: disgusting. I ordered the Chimichuuri Ribeye - supposedly a 'house specialty'. The cut of meat was waaaaaaay below par - grisly and tough. The real disappointment was the Chimichurri sauce which was not like any Chimmichuri sauce I've ever seen or tasted before. It was gooey red/yellow oil with floating bits of gray matter...I took 2 bites and was done. I didn't even feel like the meat would be safe to give my dog. Prior to writing this I called 2X to speak with a manager but both times that was a hassle. It's possible there is no one actually managing Z South. There are so many people with $ in Fallbrook/Bonsall...it amazes me they don't care more about the food quality in their local restaurants.
