    Shrimp pad Thai
    Kate S.

We ate here recently while visiting Amsterdam. They were able to seat 9 of us with a relatively quick wait time. The food was good. I had a massaman curry, that was different than the typical massaman that I am accustomed to in the US. This had not only the typical coconut base, but also peanut butter. Not what I was expecting, but very tasty. Hubby got the shrimp pad Thai which he enjoyed. Everyone from my group was happy with what they ordered. Would come back again.

Very tasty food and plenty to eat. Had Tom Khai Gah and Basil Chicken. Both were tasty. Could have tolerated more spicy but when it's your first visit, you want to be careful.

Hoping to try a Gluten free restaurant that ended up being closed, we walked around and found this restaurant that was recommended by a colleague. The line up outside suggested it may be a good place to go. I was craving a Pad Thai or a curry that are usually a safe bet for celiac however it wasn't the case with this restaurant. I took a cashew/shrimp platter recommended by the waitress, It was delicious. I would definitely go back again when in Amsterdam.

I went to Bird Thais Restaurant with a friend and we had so much fun! We weren't paying attention to what we were doing so we ended up ordering fried rice, white rice, sweet and sour chicken (I think) and a beef sauce. It was all incredibly delicious but certainly lacking in variety. You can see the canal from the windows and it's really cool especially if you sit by the window upstairs. The restaurant was clean, staff were friendly and ambiance was chill. I would go there again.

I LOVE BIRD THAIS I came here on a fluke. I honestly had zero idea of the hype and the reviews. I was tasked by my family to find somewhere to eat, I love Thai food, and this place looked nice. We got seated within a few minutes, and the seats felt comfy. That was pretty much my sell. Their menu is MASSIVE. I am not a curry fan. So I ignored all things curry. I ended up grabbing the dorado fish covered in sweet chili. It has a nice kick, and the dorado was perfectly crunchy and was not too large. The chilis on top were a great touch for little sweet heat flavors. Everything was amazing. Truly. Our table was so talkative until the food came. Then bam - everything was silent. The way that amazing food is designed to do. Keep your mouth full, your mind focused, and truly enjoy your meal. I dream about going back. And one day, my dream will come true!

Not sure where the hype is coming from. Visited the restaurant Sunday night, waited around 30'mins to get in. Very disappointed at the food and service. Ordered a pad Thai with pork, soup, chicken satay and pork pineapple fried rice. The pad Thai with pork, suppose pad Thai should have a more sour flavor orange color, but this one is dark soy sauce color. The pork is frozen pork, rough and no taste. The chicken satay has too many sauce, dried and tough meat. Pineapple fried rice with chicken only comes with 2 small pieces of pineapple. Meat are super rough. Server asked if we want water, we said yes. Brought in two bottle of still water. I asked if they have tan water another server maybe is the manager. Said we have tan water we don't serve it, there is no free water here. Ok I understand I'm fine dining no free water is normal. Interesting enough I never heard a normal Thai restaurant don't serve water for free. Force you to pay for the still water (3.5 euro per bottle). Ridiculous. The way she explained is very rude. Overall terrible experience.

While visiting a different country I always look to see if yelp works and surprise surprise it did in Amsterdam. After a long day of being a tourist I did a quick yelp search and found this cute little restaurant. When we arrived there was a line out the door so I'm sure I wasn't the only one doing some yelping out this way. To our luck the line moved pretty fast and we were seated within 15 minutes or so. I think this is due to the restaurant not taking reservations or even a list of names and number of people in a party. It's based on a first come first serve line so everyone was lined up in the doorway which caused some chaos to get in and out. Once you're seated the staff is pretty quick and comes with menus and asks for your drink order. I normally get the pad see ew but here they didn't even have that option so I just got a Chicken Pad Thai. My friend also got the Pad Thai but with beef and the Combination Fried Rice. The food came out in less than 10 minutes and man is it a good portion. I honestly think with one plate you can feed 2-3 people so my friends and I ordered diff items and shared family style and still had some left over to take home with us to eat the next day. All items were good and flavorful. Fried rice had a good amount of beef, chicken, and shrimp. The Pad Thai noodles were cooked perfectly and not mushy. I just wished they gave more veggies and more peanuts. If I were to come back to Amsterdam and had a Thai craving this is the place I would come to.

Contrary to its reputation, the food was not that great. The appetizers were excellent but the main menu was the below expectations. The rice was too dry , the fish dish was covered with too much runny & bland tasting sauce. The service was OK & the restaurant was quite busy. Three stars.

Eh. Have had way better Thai/Asian food. Was a bit disappointed based on how busy it was. Didn't live up to the hype we received from the hotel

Fresh Heineken and Mai Tai at  Bird Thais

This area in the red light district has many oriental dining options, we chose this one after I perused the menu online from "across the pond". We loved it, I had the spicy fried rice with chicken, delicious and very hot. I had to push several of the hot peppers off to the side , as my very fresh Heineken could not cool my mouth off. My wife had the spicy chicken salad over white rice, it was a tad bit less spicy than my fried rice, but she thought it was very good. Her mai tai was a bit watery. We definitely would do this place again, without the mai tai

A legit delicious restaurant right next to the Centraal station. I did my homework beforehand and recognized the popularity of the restaurant. So I came by at around 5 PM or so for an early dinner. When I left at around 6 PM or so, the place still had some open tables. Food is definitely on the pricey end. However, they do have generous serving size, and the quantity made it worth it (maybe). I liked my red curry, but I couldn't figure out why they added lychee into the mix. The appetizer platter was also good! I highly recommend it. Not five stars because the restaurant is too loud for this type of establishment (the expensive kind). Even when I was there at 5 PM, it was hard to hold a conversation with my friend. It is also dark, which makes it difficult to read the menu. You receive a 10% discount if you do take out.

There is a snack bar across the street with the same name so be careful that you're not confusing the two. I went on a moderately cold and rainy Thursday night and the line was slightly out the door. My two friends and I were seated in about 30 minutes, which wasn't that bad; I expected it to be worse (longer). We ordered the Chang Mai and Phuket Menus, which was enough to share among three, with an extra order of rice. Chang Mai: Chicken satay, tom yam koeng (soup), beef & coconut milk in paneng curry Phuket: Fish cakes, tom yam talee (soup very similar to tom yam koeng), beef, potatoes and peanuts in mild curry sauce They had Chang beer which was a nice touch to go with the Thai food. The food was delicious and I would definitely come back to try other things on the menu. The staff was very nice and helpful with the menu.

Our first time visited this restaurant and the overall experience was amazing! The quality of their food was excellent as in the flavor, authentic taste, temperature control and fresh ingredients. Their stir fried crispy pork belly with Kai lan was super good. We could not stop eating while waiting for our masamam curry to be served. The pork belly was roasted with smoky flavor and was really crispy blended well into the brown sauce with some little spicy chili flavor. It was just an awesome dish and goes well with white rice. Their masamam curry was rich and creamy with coconut . The beef was tender, the potatoes was soft and well cooked just at the right time management . With some peanuts in the curry made the entire dish super delicious! We enjoyed their food a lot!. Their service was great and staff was attentive to the customers' request. The moment you walked into this restaurant you know you made the right choice for Thai cuisine. Highly recommended for you to have a try if you are visiting Amsterdam city center. We are a couple and we were looking for a nice place to have some Thai food on a Saturday night. When we entered asking if there was a table for two available, we were told to wait 5 minutes. So, we waited outside. Another couple were leaving, so we chatted to them about their meal and we asked what they would recommend. After a few minutes, we went inside again and we were aggressively waved away and told they were closed. I was left quite shocked and confused. At most, we had maybe been 7-8 minutes, but also nobody had mentioned to us that the table was ready, or not ready. So, I don't know what happened here. But, I was mostly surprised at the anger and aggressiveness, as if we had done something horribly wrong. I posted this on TripAdvisor, and instead of receiving an apology, I was accused of lying. Why would I make this up? So, I repeat. Do not go here. It's not authentic Thai food, the staff are dreadful (I have been to Thailand, and people are not like that there), and if you want to be aggressively waved away for absolutely no reason at all, well this is your place! We were quite upset by this, and also very hungry. Thankfully, there are many better options for Thai food, and we went to Thaise Snackbar Bird nearby. The staff were fantastic there, and chatted to us quite a lot. We told them about what happened (and they didn't accuse us of lying). Little Thai Prince (maybe replace the word "Prince" with something else). Also, I want to add that on Tripadvisor they respond to everyone's negative reviews with more rude responses and denials, instead of simply apologizing. I have been to Thailand, and I certainly never met anyone like this there. Shocking people, and a shocking place. -100 stars, if possible. It almost ruined our night. They should have paid me to eat there and I would have still said no. So glad we didn't actually get to eat any of their disgusting food.
