Since my last bad experience, i thought i'd try it for a second time. I took a friend as she wanted a nice burger, and also all Bird places are halal certified. It was pretty quiet for a sunday which was good for us. We got a large booth which was perfect, I hate sitting on small cramped tables. I went for the buffalo wings, side of fries and black cherry float. My friend got the green chilli nacho burger. The buffalo wings are the best thing on the menu!!! Succulent, juicy, falls off the bone real easily, the buffalo sauce is what makes it even more special! The fries are a bit meh, but who cares when the chicken is just too good!!! The black cherry float was amazing, like a milkshake but lighter if that makes sense. True cherry taste, i need another! My friend really enjoyed her green chilli nacho burger, it was humengous but definitely worth it, she polished off her plate. The service was top notch, even got extra buffalo sauce on the house. So yesterday I had a delicious meal! I've been passing this place for quite some time. A friend and I finally said let's go in. I'm so glad we did! The waiter was very welcoming which is always a great start. The style is diner like, benches and stools but with a wooden design. We sat down in a both it was quite and I just like booths. The menu had a lot of great stuff. I mean chicken and waffles is not appealing together it's kinda weird, luckily that's my thing! I had Chicken and Waffles with Maple Syrup and Cream. On the side I had chili fries. The food was amazing! The chicken was cooked well and the waffles were soft. The price I felt was reasonable considering what was on the plate. Walking to a nearby tube station I stopped in here for lunch. Staff is friendly. Service is quick and efficient. Place is bright with a lot of windows. They have some tables outside for those who want to enjoy a nice day. They have counters and booths. It was not to busy when i stopped in for lunch. They appeared to have a nice selection of beer and soda options. I opted for a root beer and some fried chicken. The chicken was good especially with the sauce. I came here on a Tuesday night straight after work. I'd heard a few good reviews about this place so my expectations were high. The place was dead quiet which was expected for just after 5. Seated straight away, I ordered a cocktail (Watermelon, lychee and Soju) which was lovely. The waitress was a bit quiet and didn't seem entirely happy to be there. Wings seem to be the speciality: 6 for £6, 12 for £12 and 24 for £18 and with a range of sauces and glazes. I opted for 6 honey-ginger glazed wings, a chicken and bacon burger and fries. The burger arrived first, and only the burger. I felt the burger didn't look nice and the chicken was poor quality. For a £10 a burger I expected a bit more. About 5 minutes later the wings and fries arrived. The wings were amazing! The glaze was amazing! The crunch was amazing! We had checked out the Kingsland Road branch a while back and really enjoyed it so when we were in the area we didn't hesitate to eat here. The Holloway Road branch has been open since Sept 2015. I like the decor here a lot more - the lighting and high stools and tables are great. As I did in my review for Kingsland Road, I'd like to point out that the fried chicken is GLUTEN FREE!!! They do actually mention it now on the menu. I absolutely love the honey-ginger glaze. It is as described and doesn't compromise the chicken's crunchy coating. My husband got the Korean gochuajang glaze on his but it was more like a sauce poured over the chicken - too saucy for me. I like the sticky, less is more style of the honey-ginger glaze. We really don't rate the fries here and I read a few other reviews saying the same thing. Last time they were soggy and didn't taste great. We didn't actually need any sides this time round though because we got the 12 wing and drink meal for £12 (yes, I managed to eat 12 wings!) - I tried looking on their website to share details of the deal but I can't see anything...! Bird, please get better fries!! Crunchy ones, or sweet potato ones. Just not the ones you already have. read more

A newish addition to the southern end of Holloway Road. This site used to be a pub which recently closed, not the kind I ever wanted to visit and now a spanking new incarnation as Bird. Inside it's really bright and clean and modern and I like the utilitarian functionality of it. Small, high tables which are great for a quick turnaround and quick eating. The menu is upmarket fried chicken indicated with extras with words like slaw, kimchi, hickory and gochujang. Service was great, Super quick and responsive. Our food came quickly. I got the GeeGee chicken thigh burger with gochujang and kimchee slaw dressing. We had some cheesy Korean fries and deep fried pickles with blue cheese sauce. Maybe not the best combination in hindsight. The chicken itself was good but I found the gochujang plus slaw a bit overbearing. The fries were sub par being pale, not crispy and from a freezer bag and the sauces were a bit too cheesy and heavy. I expected something better. The deep fried pickles were OK but the batter was quite greasy and dipping it into the blue cheese sauce was one step too far in the calorie and heaviness department. I hesitate between 4 and 3 stars but 3 overall because you can get downmarket fried chicken and upmarket hipster chicken like this. Both taste good but for the higher price it could be better. The fries for example at £4.50 for a small side with sauces squirted over could be much better for the price. The venue and overall concept however are great but £40 for two chicken burgers, 2 sides and 2 beers was fairly high in my opinion for what we had. read more

We've been curious about this new local chicken restaurant, and since we are usually quite busy on Saturday's, but we didn't have plans for lunch today, we decided to pop in. We saw online that they open everyday at 11:00am, and we arrived at about 12:15pm. I'm pretty sure they just opened, as we were clearly their first patrons of the day. We sat down, and took a look at the menu and the waitress brought us a large bottle of water and two glasses without having to ask for it. I really like when they do that. We decided that we wanted to try the fried pickles, but with ranch instead of bleu cheese, and fries. I ordered two pieces of fried white meat chicken. As I was ordering the sides we planned to share, she told me the pickles wouldn't be ready for ordering for an hour. I found that a bit of a shame, and also sort of strange. It wasn't the end of the day, and they hadn't run out. It was the beginning of the day, and they'd only just gotten started. We decided to get two fries instead. We waited quite a while, and were told that the fries were taking a bit because the oil needed to heat up. Again, I find that very strange, and off-putting that they weren't ready for people to actually order food. At a restaurant. Where people typically do order food. We received our food, and Mr. F really enjoyed the chicken burger he'd ordered. My chicken was good. There were no bones, which was very unexpected, but fine by me. The fries were good, though a bit over oily, probably due to the oil not being hot enough when they were started. As a lover of ranch, and as I knew they had my favourite condiment in house, I had ordered it on the side for my chicken. I dipped a fry into it, and just about spit it out. It was absolutely disgusting, and held no resemblance in taste to the delicious sauce I love. It smelled terrible, too. It looked like it, but I certainly won't get it there again. It was a decent experience. I've had better fried chicken, but not here in London, and I'd be willing to give everything another try... I'll know better next time and bring my own ranch, but I'm sure we will go back. read more

I was really looking forward to my meal last night from Bird. We ordered a takeaway via Deliveroo. I had to ring the restaurant to add some special requests to my order. The person who took my call was very friendly and helpful. 1 We ordered the deep fried pickles, 6 buffalo wings, 6 Korean wings, a West Coast burger for me, and the Original Waffle Burger for my husband. The deep fried pickles were my first disappointment. They were pickle spears which I always find soggier than the chip version. In fact, the batter had fallen off all but two of the spears by the time it had reached us. The batter was essentially flavourless and lacked any seasoning at all. The buttermilk ranch dip was overly herby and did not match well with the pickles. In fairness, it usually comes with the bleu cheese sauce but in my experience, fried pickles should be accompanied by a spicy ranch dip, so I subbed it out in the hopes that it would be a better fit. I had the bleu cheese sauce to go with my wings and it was pretty bland so I doubt it would have helped here. Moving on, the buffalo wings were the star of the evening. They had an excellent kick to them, and a lovely saucy and fried coating. The chicken was lovely and moist. They were a bit soggy but I think that was due to their travel time. I then tucked in to my West Coast burger. The bun was a bit dry, due to toasting I suppose. The chicken itself was good. The guacamole was salty and spicy which takes away from what guac should be which is fresh and limey. My husband said the waffle burger was so heavy and rich, and there was no need to have all those sauces on it PLUS cheese. Overall, I found my meal to be fairly lacking in flavour (particularly the pickles and burger) and I don't think I would order from here again. Especially for the price of it! read more

Being a native of Georgia in The States, I have high expectations when it comes to fried chicken. I have to say I was greatly impressed with the food. I ordered the classic chicken sandwich and wish I'd ordered two. That along with the Korean fries and an ice cold Classic Coke made me feel like I was back in Atlanta enjoying a meal at a similar local free-range chicken joint.
