THE WORST - DO NOT HIRE
I've moved 11 times over 20 years in the Army and Bird Dog Moving and Logistics is far and away the absolute worst moving company I've ever worked with. They failed in the basics of packing and loading, did not communicate with me when problems arose, failed in proper accountability during inventory, and were terrible during the claims process. We had over $13k in damages, including the loss of irreplaceable artwork and memorabilia, and the countless hours wasted dealing with their complete incompetence. They did not take responsibility for their failures and fought us the entire way through the claims process.
Examples of their complete negligence:
Did not pack a TV in a box, then loosely loaded it amongst random items (damaged w/ a grill leg punctured through the screen);
Did not wrap or box multiple mirrors, Army memorabilia, and countless other items that absolutely should have been;
Jammed 10+ picture frames and paintings in boxes, none of them wrapped in packing paper;
Did not wrap paintings, put them in boxes with paint touching paint, resulting in damage of both pieces of artwork;
Did not consolidate furniture hardware in a single Parts Box - we found some parts taped up in a little ball, rolling around at the bottom of the trailer; had to unpack the entirety of our items to find parts to put our bed back together (they were randomly thrown in a wardrobe box labeled "basement");
Did not bring dish pack boxes for kitchen items (these also provide the best 'base' in a trailer when loading) - multiple items broken as a result;
Used other boxes inappropriately (e.g. wardrobe boxes as catch alls for 100+ lbs of random items);
Multiple pieces of furniture damaged as a result of no wraps/blankets, metal on metal, metal on wood, etc.
Did not unpack and box drawer contents, resulting in the destruction of 2 nightstands, 3 dressers, and a bookshelf;
Did not know how to properly pack and tape boxes, and subsequently load them, to prevent crushing;
No retention straps or dividers to mitigate load shift during transit;
Additional examples of their lack of professionalism:
Did not show up on time a single day;
Came woefully unprepared with supplies - we lost multiple hours per day as one or more left to get boxes/tape/wrap/blankets;
Failed to finish within the estimated timeline - exacerbated by sending only 1(!) person to finish the job, after staying past midnight the night before;
Did not provide us with appropriate claims paperwork up front, despite multiple inquiries, which would have afforded us the opportunity to pay an additional fee for Full Replacement Value during the claims process;
Did not come close to developing a complete inventory list, with properly tagged items, let alone one with sufficient descriptions of contents and their condition.
Again, they are the WORST moving company I have ever worked with and should never be hired to handle items you care about. read more
