We have never found a good place to eat at this outlet until now. But the true showstopper was the service. We ordered the pollo salad and the vongole but the vongole ended up being a bit too salty for our taste. We told our server Darlene who was already so sweet and she took it off of the tab for us and we ended up ordering the tortellini instead which was absolutely wonderful. Also shoutout to the chef Angelique who provided the complimentary garlic knots. Didn't expect this restaurant in the outlets to actually be so tasty with such wonderful service. Truly impressed! Was shopping at the Cabazon outlets and stumbled upon this italian restaurant. There was a small wait and it looked pretty crowded, so I decided to try. The ambiance is nice for a mall restaurant, casual but still nice sit down dining if you're tired from shoplifting. The staff is still getting the hang of it since it's new, but I learned that it's a chain. We ordered the birba special pizza, which came with chili oil sauce and honey, and spicy vodka pasta. The pasta lacked flavor a bit, but the pizza was good with a mix of sweet and spicy. Luckily, they bring you a personal sauce caddy of chili oil, cheese, and other toppings which is nice. Hands down the best pasta we've had in a long time! We ordered the Tagliatelle alla Bolognese and Linguine alle Vongole, and both were absolutely delicious. You can truly taste the difference -- the pasta is made in-house and cooked to perfection. Even the kids' pizza was a hit! Everything was so fresh, flavorful, and authentically Italian. We are very excited to have a restaurant option in Cabazon. It is much needed Upon walking in there is a gelato station which is a nice touch. The dining area is small and there is a bar. The color scheme of the restaurant is a little odd with the walls painted a bold red and green on each wall. We were greeted promptly, however our food took a very long time to come out. We ordered two pizzas. We ordered the braised greens and the Birba pizza. For the price point we were expecting more with the pizzas. We did enjoy the sauces that were accompanied with the pizzas. Also there is no bathroom inside the restaurant, so if you need to go while visiting you have to leave the restaurant and got to the public restroom. I haven't had a chance to try their pastas or cocktail menus but I'm not completely ruling this place out just yet. Stick with the pizza and/or tiramisu and you should be fine. Venture outside of that and you're gambling with disappointment, imo. Service was good. However, fyi unannounced "kitchen appreciation fee" on bill and tip set to a suggested 25%. Pizza 6.4/10. Two of three pasta dishes were inedible. read more

Wondering if anyone has had a similar experience at the Birba restaurant at Desert Hills Premium Outlets. Yesterday, my boyfriend James and I had decided to spend the afternoon shopping at the outlets, starting to get wardrobe items for an upcoming cruise. We decided to take a moment to get lunch at Birba. When we arrived we weren't greeted by anyone, although the staff was busy with the tables on the patio. After two parties who arrived after us were seated, we were seated at a table off on a corner of the patio, practically hidden behind a post and not readily visible from the rest of the patio. We ordered drinks when we sat down and had already figured out what we wanted to order during our wait for a table. We finally got our drinks, with no garnish while other tables were receiving lemon rounds on the rims of their drinks. We had ordered Arnold Palmers which are half lemonade. Weird.... We immediately ordered our lunch which was a calimari appetizer and two salads. It took them 30 minutes to get our order to us, in the meantime other parties, notably heterosexual, were seated and getting their food well before anyone checked on us, while we didn't get our food until after a staff member checked and found that we had received nothing. Our food (which was meh) arrived all at once which was ridiculous, and no one checked on us from then on. We had to flag down a staff member after we had been sitting with empty drinks for 20 minutes. In the meantime, a neighboring table was seated, served drinks with garnishes and had their food. We asked for the check when the refills finally came and then had to wait an additional 15 minutes before we were cashed out. This is midafternoon and the restaurant was not busy. As a former server, I left the smallest tip ever on an $80+ order. It was very obvious that the restaurant was treating us very badly because we are an interracial gay couple. We however were very polite to the staff, by the time all of the time had been wasted we just wanted to get the hell out of there. We were seated in a place that was basically unwelcoming and then ignored while the other tables were being served and attended to. Will never patronize this restaurant ever again and am noting the other area restaurants under the same ownership, which includes Birba and Cheeky's in Palm Springs. Won't be patronizing any of their other restaurants. In an area with a significant gay population not a good move to show your ass like this read more

1 Star Review I have to say this was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. Seating - The booths are built so high that your feet dangle, and if you're wearing sandals, they slip right off. Very uncomfortable. Flies - Most seating is right by windows that attract flies. Our server even had to place a little spinning gadget on our table to keep them away--completely unappetizing. Pizza - What they call "pizza" is really just overpriced flatbread. It's paper-thin, falls apart the moment you pick it up, and the cheese slid right off. The waitress (a blonde with blue eyes) actually blamed us for not "waiting until it cooled down." Excuse me? That's not how pizza works. Pasta - The pasta was supposed to come with three meatballs, but instead it was just crumbled bits of meat that honestly had the texture of dog food. Menu Misleading - The menu is extremely limited, and the descriptions are misleading. What we were served was nothing like what was advertised. To make matters worse, staff were not apologetic at all. They charged us full price even though we left more than half the food untouched (flies were landing on it, making it inedible). Nearly $90 down the drain--I'd have been better off throwing that money in the fireplace. Came shopping at the Cabazon outlets. My husband and I seen this new restaurant Birba. It is located where the old food court was. First I would love to rave about the exceptional customer service. Everyone in this place is super friendly and very helpful. I even had a chance to speak with the manager who was also incredible. The place is very well decorated with plenty of room to sit inside. There is also seating outside. We sat at the bar. The bartender was very helpful and informative. Super friendly and this allowed us to have a great time. The food!!!! Let me say you have to come in and experience it. The food is absolutely amazing. Everything you can taste is fresh and is not processed. I have tried several Italian restaurants and this one by far is the absolute best. They have a few different in house items they make such as this oregano and salt seasoning. And an oil chili which I can't explain but it's delicious. Me had the meatball appetizer which was placed over a bed of polenta. And for the main dish the pesto pasta. I cannot stress how exquisite the food is. I would recommend stopping in to try. They have real gelato and espresso. The bartender made terrific drinks. The taste was on point. I will definitely take a drive back here to eat. I unfortunately didn't get many pictures at all which I am disappointed. But come by and try you will definitely enjoy the freshness of this food. We came to cabazon very hungry, and we stumbled upon Birba Cabazon. We ordered macheroni with lobster and it was delicious. The service was great, and the manager Shannon was wonderful! The only issue is there are no restrooms in the building forcing you to go outside to the public restroom. If you are in the area, make sure to check Birba Cabazon out! We also had Nico's potato's in certain they added nothing to them cause they lacked flavor and were horrible as well . The best thing was probably the spinach tortellini it was actually good but I don't think I could justify paying 24 dollars for only 4 pieces again . Nice ambience but here's why the start rating. I made reservations before arrival. The place was empty dead. Waited and we were sat and the lady who sat us took our drink orders - original Margaritas Birba nicely done then came the waiter who seems a bit more nervous than anything and no help from him to assist with the menu or recommendations. So I went ahead and order the burrata as appetizers and the spaghetti with meatballs. Nice presentation. And end the meal with a spoon of sorbeto which was nothing unique to it as a scoop of ice cream in a brass bowl the lime ‍ flavor is to limeade. I've enjoyed their Palm Springs location for years, truly special. In fact, on New Year's Eve we sat next to SuperModel of the World, Linda Evangelista and her family! Fun Memory, but back to the review - we sat at the bar at their newer location which if you position yourself on a certain side, the view of the trains passing plus mountain backdrop is awesome. Read before you go If you want authentic Italian pizza/pasta and other dishes, don't come here. Don't make the same mistakes I did. I made them for you. The main problem with "Italian" restaurants in the US is that it's often something bad masquerading as an Italian restaurant. We ordered pasta vongole, pasta with peppers, and two pizzas, one of which was the house special. Everything was really bad. Pasta vongole shouldn't be swimming in broth. The pasta with peppers was just plain bad. The pizza, for which they charge over $20, tasted like we'd walked into a dominos pizza. It was truly some kind of crap with a sweet sauce. The olive oil we asked for was tasteless and odorless (i.e., the cheapest kind). You can call a restaurant by an Italian name, dress your waiters in striped shirts, and charge $27 for your pathetic "pasta", but that doesn't make it an Italian restaurant. In the end, we discovered that they'd added a 2% "appreciation to the kitchen" on top of the dishes, then taxed the entire amount and cheerfully offered to tip them 20 to 25%. Shame on you for asking that much for such bad food. If your dishes are prepared from scratch, you're using the wrong kind of scratch. Vergognatevi! read more

This was a complete spur-of-the-moment find for us as we did some holiday shopping at the outlets. Things had gone a bit later than planned, and we found ourselves ravenous. We only happened to find out about this place from the mall website, as its presence was fairly low-key-- we were told they'd also only opened two weeks prior. But what an excellent start they'd evidently gotten off to, regardless. My mother couldn't stop raving about her Tricolore salad, and my Margherita pizza was quite good. The mocktail I had (the Nancy, I think I was called?) was deliciously complex and refreshing despite its grown-up astringence, and the chocolate panna cotta with marsala blackberry gremolata made for a divine finish. We couldn't believe food this good was just minding its own business in an outlet mall. The wait staff was also pleasant and homey, and the decor was pleasantly euro--enough to capture the feel without being needlessly avant-garde. It was surprisingly empty for dinner, but we were told lunchtime (with their piadine menu) was when it really pops off. As a side note, they have no public restroom, but there's one the mall maintains that's just one store over (they'll provide directions on request). Really splendid stuff. A rare treat to find a great meal in an outlet mall. The owners of Birba have a long history of fine dining in Palm Spring now expanding to the dessert hills outlet mall. The food was great and prices are super reasonable. The food quality was amazing. Thrilled to have this experience and a place to refresh during some heavy shopping. The burrata was amazing and we loved both pastas. The spaghetti had a nice kick to it. The portions are large. Service was great. Not a fast dining experience but a lovely break from the craziness of weekend (holiday) shopping. read more

The pasta was terrible, making me feel sick while only serving a few strands (26 dollars?!) the homemade pizza was pathetic, the crust so thin it was soggy. I miss the old Panda Express that used to be here. Instead of fake Chinese food, we now get fake Italian food, but at twice the price of Olive Garden for one half their portions. As of this writing, every business blames the recent run up of inflation plus supply chain problems for the massive increase in prices and fees. But here was our situation we had a party 4 adults and 2 kids under 5, and were charged an automatic "large group party" tip 20% regardless of our order. PLUS an additional kitchen appreciation fee of 2%. They warned us some of the choices were on the small end and they were not kidding. Sure, they got to pay the rent in this busy outlet, but why can't the restaurant pay the staff a living wage? In most sit down restaurants the restroom, even at a mall, has their own restrooms (paid for by their higher dine-in prices) - their restroom? Outside. The only plus I could say is they did have four jars at every table for extra cheese, peppers and etc. so you didn't have to ask their slow customer service for more. read more

We ordered three dishes; 1. Funghi pizza (must get!! By far the best mushroom pizzas that we ever tried) 2. Vongole (not the best tbh. It had chili oil drizzled which gave a kick that we didn't expect) 3. The lemon chicken dish (The sauce was citrusy and goes very well with the garnishes that come together. However, the chicken thigh had a spot that was oozing with blood when we cut it and when notified to our server she agreed and took it back to the kitchen. She confirmed with the chef and basically said the chef told her this is how it comes and it's fully cooked. We didn't want to cause a ruckus and just wanted to enjoy the day and accepted the dish as is but didn't eat the thigh. In terms of service, our server was terrific. Super friendly and helpful with pairing the wine to our dishes. I wish i could remember her name :( Here is why we took off one star. The hostess that sat us down and offered us water had a very rude vibe. We asked about the water options she was offering and Idk what it was but she literally answered with a very rude tone and just walked away. JUST WALKED AWAY. Our server came back and served us water and so on. Overall, the pizza is literally worth driving back 70miles. This place customer service sucks our waitress sucks she was taking our order we weren't even done ordering she turns around and takes order from the people sitting next to us. I was like we weren't done ordering and she says well u were taking too long those people were ready so I'm gonna take their order. What the hell that is so rude and we were not even taking long. I eat out a lot and when I find places I like I keep coming back but they just lost a customer bcuz for me customer service in any business is the most important thing. I would not even care if the food is just ok but if they have great customer service I would keep coming back but this places food is not great and their customer service is worse. We said fine- it came in a little plastic container with probably 2 tablespoons of Marina. Really $3 for that? We've been to a lot of restaurants and they usually serve it with 2 sauces or if you asked for Marina they don't charge extra.
