Joy's been at this for 29 years, so she has a deep well of experience to draw from in terms of where to get started and how to adjust in real time to keep the positive results flowing. I called just about every Neurofeedback person in LA and OC and, while they were all engaging and bright, I got the sense they were sort of working from templates...come in for a brain map, do some analysis, come up with protocols, and go. Joy leaves so much room for each unique brain and how it responds over time. And she's so passionate about it still...it's amazing. Joy has been deeply involved in the field all along, so not only is she a talented practitioner, she's a walking textbook. She can answer any question and do it in a way, with metaphors especially, that makes even the most complex stuff easy to understand. The biggest question seems to be, "how does just sitting here looking at a monitor...without even having to think about it...help me so much more quickly and thoroughly than years' worth of other modalities?" Joy's got the answers--more importantly, she's got the skills to make it happen. Even with all that experience and knowledge, Joy's really humble and down-to-earth. No need to have a big ego when you have the confidence of mastery in your profession. She's extremely easy to talk with and feel comfortable around. I know Neurofeedback can seem a bit mystifying. Nobody seems to be on the same page, nobody seems to know what is going on, and when you leave a negative review, the owner responds telling you to "call the clinic" even though she is not even there to speak with you or resolve the problem. From my experience, this place is constantly trying to upsell you, push additional treatments, and squeeze more money out of you. I was even threatened with an additional $300 to $500 fee during a dispute, which only made the entire situation feel even more money-driven and unethical. The worst part was the Director of Operations repeatedly trying to sell me peptides through her own side business while she was involved in my treatment. She was pushing peptides that she represented as coming from China and trying to sell them directly to me outside of the clinic. In my opinion, using your position at a medical or wellness clinic to hustle patients into buying products from your personal side business is so fucking unethical. Patients are coming here because they are looking for legitimate medical support, not to become sales leads for someone's private peptide business. Between the constant upselling, the lack of communication, the confusion between staff, the extra fees, and employees pushing outside products, I completely lost trust in this place.
