As someone with a disability and ongoing issues with my left foot, finding the right shoes is very important to me. After a year of recovery and therapy following a stroke, this was actually my first time going shopping again. My therapist recommended New Balance, and I'm so glad I followed that advice. From the moment I walked in, the team made me feel comfortable and supported. Tafair, who assisted me, was incredibly kind, patient, and knowledgeable. He spent over an hour with me, bringing different styles, explaining their features, and helping me find what would work best for my needs. At no point did I feel rushed or like I was asking too many questions--he was truly professional and caring. I also had the chance to speak with the supervisor, Imran, to share my appreciation. He spoke very highly of Tafair, and it was heartwarming to hear about his journey and goals. It made the experience even more meaningful. Kyram, Mac, and Denzel were also friendly, welcoming, and professional--they all contributed to such a positive atmosphere in the store. I went back to the store to see if repair was possible since the uppers were still in decent condition given hard, daily wear over the years. Sadly, the Company themselves do not repair the soles given their manufacturing techniques. Okay, fair enough, I thought. They did mention a local cobbler who might be able to bond a replacement lower but it wouldn't be under "warranty" any longer. So I'm tempted to give it a try after I buy a replacement boots first. The store is a small hole-in-the-wall shop dedicated to the sale of either Blundstones boots or, for the lady that doesn't wish a full-on comfy leather boot, Ugs. Both have come into their own as "the hip apparel" for Toronto and this place is dedicated to them. The staff are tremendously helpful for the uninitiated and will take you through all the benefits of the boot; the comfort, the care, the durability, the guarantee. I've had my first pair for years and they still hold up. The latest pair? An Australian tribute to Canada with the word 'Eh?' on the pull-tab. They were a hit in Melbourne.

The footwear consultant "Brian" took good care of me and I explained the issues I am having with my old safety shoes so he suggested which shoe would work well for my type of feet, and got me different sizes and types to try on. And I did buy one here very well kept store and with products on stock, especially. I came here today after a week to return my old shoes and get a new one. They did take back the shoes and asked me the concerns about the shoe and was polite enough to take them back. Then Brian suggested the more comfortable ones than the former and I made my purchase. Peter was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, not just about Birkenstocks but even about feet. He made a very helpful assessment about my feet and recommended both the size and style that would work for me, also helping me learn more about preventing some potential challenges with my toe alignment. While I didn't end up leaving with a pair, mainly because I was indecisive about the style and color, I did leave with much more knowledge about Birkenstock and what to consider about footwear that would be best for me. My friend and her partner both left with a pair and also got fantastic help to determine the right size and style. I was particularly impressed how much service they provide around repairs and care. I ordered a jacket as a gift for my husband and saw the sizes were limited. Medium and xl were the only ones available. Ideally I wanted a small, but I opted for medium. When I placed my order, I got a Thank You email from a Mike. It was a quick email, nothing crazy, saying thanks for my order and to reach out with questions. I was thinking, nice touch. And deleted it. My husbands jacket came and it was nicely wrapped with a hand written note, again thanking us for the purchase. I was again, impressed with the small attention to detail. Small, but seemed like a genuine gesture. Figures the jacket is a tad bigger than my husband wanted. I remembered the email that "Mike" sent, searched for it in my trash, and sent an email asking if we could possibly exchange for a small. I knew my husband got a special edition collaboration jacket and I wasn't sure if there was going to be another shipment or if that was it. Mike emailed me back. Within a couple hours. On a Sunday afternoon. I couldn't believe it. And figures Mike had a signature when he replied to my email. Mike is the co- owner of BlackToe Running lol. He said there weren't anymore smalls and being a special collab item, they wernt getting anymore. As a nice bonus gesture he suggested another jacket, somewhat similar. I thanked him and said I'd have my husband look. And figured that was that. Imagine my surprise when the next day, I saw an email from Mike saying they received a return for a small jacket and would gladly exchange mine. Say whaaaat. Who remembers their customer from the day before and makes it a point to email them on an exchange? I just sent the jacket back so I'm still waiting for the small, but with the customer service I've received so far, I have no doubt the rest of the exchange will be just as smooth. This is a company that my husband randomly found online, but I'm thinking we will become long time repeat customers and am looking forward to it.

Although the store is quite small, they carry everything that a runner may need from beginner to elite runners. Everything is well organized and the wall display offers a unique concept to showcase their merchandise. The staff has always been friendly and helpful from the opening of the store a couple of years ago. They are quite knowledgeable, plus the owners/staff members are all runners themselves, so definitely a very good sign of a store geared specifically for runners. And how fitting the name of the store, as every runner has experienced a black toe at some time in their running experience. In addition, the store offers group runs and programs for all running levels. One would think it'll be intimidating coming here if you're not an experienced runner, but they do welcome everyone and have different pacing groups which will suit all running levels.
