I'm so glad I went directly to this store to purchase my first "Blundies" instead of another store. The nice thing is if you purchase at their store, they will condition your boots free of charge. Who else does that? Dack's never did that let alone remember me as a customer. -- So an update on my boots that I brought six years ago.. The soles have finally worn out and still I wear them. I went back to the store to see if repair was possible since the uppers were still in decent condition given hard, daily wear over the years. Sadly, the Company themselves do not repair the soles given their manufacturing techniques. Okay, fair enough, I thought. They did mention a local cobbler who might be able to bond a replacement lower but it wouldn't be under "warranty" any longer. So I'm tempted to give it a try after I buy a replacement boots first. When my buddy purchased his first pair of Bluntstones some years ago, he did nothing but go on and on and on about how comfy the boots were. Yes, I get it. They have the soft sole, the pull-tab entry, and the chic-kinda-ugly look going on for them. I didn't give them the time of day because at that time I was a Doc Marten Man. Well, ten more friends telling you the same thing and suddenly you find yourself in one of the few places in Toronto that they sell them in asking if they've got your size. The store is a small hole-in-the-wall shop dedicated to the sale of either Blundstones boots or, for the lady that doesn't wish a full-on comfy leather boot, Ugs. Both have come into their own as "the hip apparel" for Toronto and this place is dedicated to them. The staff are tremendously helpful for the uninitiated and will take you through all the benefits of the boot; the comfort, the care, the durability, the guarantee. I've had my first pair for years and they still hold up. The latest pair? An Australian tribute to Canada with the word 'Eh?' on the pull-tab. They were a hit in Melbourne. read more

Flimsy product, rock bottom service. I purchased my chisel toe Blundstones 2 years ago, and they served me well... for a short time. After only 1 year of use, the seams have come almost completely apart. The leather on the toe is totally worn through, making them almost unwearable. I brought them into the Australian Boot Company store, and asked them for help. They took some pictures to send to some office in Toronto promising to get back to me. After 3 weeks not hearing back, I returned to the store. I spoke to the same guy, who told me they had asked for more pictures, and he'd forgotten to write to me. So he took more pictures and sent another email, with me cc'd this time. A few more weeks passed with no response, so I replied to the thread with the Vancouver store and the Toronto office. Still no response. So I went back to the store, only to find the Toronto office had rejected the warranty claim, with no offer of compensation. They had not included me in their email, nor had the Vancouver location emailed to inform me. So three visits in, with no email communication, I was left with the same broken product I had walked in with 2 months prior. Blundstone has clearly forgotten their Canadian clientele, offering no service whatsoever. Would not recommend. read more

Had a great sales person help me out the other day - forget what his accent was, but just remember how helpful he was. Great selection of Blundstones! I'm new to Toronto and wanted to get a pair of boots for the upcoming fall and winter season. I looked online and saw that this store carried Blundstone boots. The official Blundstone site even listed this shop as having the boots I wanted - #584 - in stock. And then I went inside. The saleswoman wasn't what I'd call warm, but coming from NYC, I can be used to brusque salespeople. She informed me that they did not have my size in that particular boot in stock, but that I could check back in September. I then asked if I could try on another pair of Blundstones just to see how they feel on your feet since I've never owned a pair. The saleslady seemed put off. She told me that they wouldn't fit the same as the winter boots. I told her, I was aware of that, but if I was in the store, I'd still like to try a pair on to see if I even like the brand, especially if I was to wait until September for the ones I want. These boots aren't cheap either, so yeah, trying any pair on can give some insight into their fit. She actually continued to dissuade me from trying them on. Someone whose very job revolves around getting people to buy shoes. It was confusing and she came off seeming like I was putting her out by asking her to pull a box of boots from the back. I repeated again that, if I'm going to spend that much money, I want to know what I'm getting into, and would like to know how any iteration of the boots fit. She finally acquiesced and went and got me the boots. While all of this was going on, I felt awful. Unwelcome and unwanted. There was literally one other customer in the store with her mom. And me, being treated like I'm dumb for wanting to try on a pair of shoes. I can say that many other stores in Toronto sell Blundstone boots and I would suggest if you would like to experience being treated with respect and decency, to avoid this store. Especially as a new arrival to this city, this kind of experience leaves me feeling flummoxed and bummed out. I should point out that I proceeded to pop into five or so other shops after going into this store, and every salesperson that greeted me did so with enthusiasm and kindness and provided exemplary customer service. We all make choices with our wallets. I personally wouldn't spend my money or my time in this store in the future, as they made it very clear that I wasn't worth theirs. read more

Winter is approaching (i.e., it's here) so I was looking for a middle ground between my kicks and my 18" high Sorels. Something sturdy but that doesn't make a sound like I dropped a bag full of hammers every time I take a step. Lured by their bright orange, er, everything, I marched into the Australian Boot Company. (When I see the word "Australian" I start thinking in an accent. Please read this review accordingly.) If you didn't know, ABC are the brains behind Blundstone, R.M. Williams and Uggs. The store is simply a wall of shoes, a few chairs and a sofa to try things on. The walls are painted #63EBF2; a calming hue that makes you want to try on boots. So I did. Service here is decidedly hands-off so if you are the type that likes the a sales pitch or hand-holding through every step of a purchase, you won't find that here. I'm a pretty independent shopper, so I was happy with the cavalier attitude. I tried on three pairs of boots, asked about four questions, and walked out with my purchase. A brilliant experience. Obligatory Title Pun: It's AUSTRALIAN for BOOT. Menu Readability: ORANGE ORANGE EVERYWHERE. Need to mention: They use a child's "Blunnie" as a pencil holder at the cash. Cute. Unhelpful staff! I intended to buy pair of $430 R.M. Williams boots at the Queen St. store but the sales person was more interested in playing around on the computer and appeared to be bothered by my request for help. My first clue that things were not going well is that she did not bother to measure my feet and proceeded to bring out ill fitting pairs of boots for me to try on. This would have been OK if I was buying $10 flip flops but when I am about to spend the equivalent of a monthly car payment on a pair of boots I do expect some level of customer service. I left the store without boots and will never set foot (pardon the pun) in this shop again. read more

THE place to get your blundstones in Toronto for they have the biggest selection of the ugly, yet sturdy boots. Definitely not likely to win any fashion awards soon, my "blunnies" have been going strong for the past few years and they keep my sasquatched/flat feet feeling comfortable and toe tappingly happy! They are pricey running about $200 with tax per pair but they last a long time and are fairly versatile with my casual wear. This store carries all styles/colours of the Blundstones, Uggs and R.M. Williams as they are all manufactured by the same parent company. Staff are friendly and helpful which is a must for me as I always dread shoe shopping! read more

This is the place we first visited to buy Blundstones for my husband, and a year later I returned to check out the selection. When the woman behind the counter--the same woman who'd helped us the year before--asked if I needed help, I mentioned that my husband's Blundstones had split around the side by the toes and wondered if perhaps he needed a larger size or different style/width. This was last September and I was considering a pair of replacement Blundstones for my husband's birthday. The very helpful woman explained the differences in Blundstone boot construction, looked up our account to confirm what style and size of boot we'd bought the year before, then suggested alternatives that wouldn't split. I am on my 6th pair of Blundstones over a 12 year period. I wear these shoes year round until they wear out (a little under 2 years) I am on my feet and outside all day, amazing footwear. Great traction especially on cold days, easy to take on and off cause I am lazy. read more

This store is great! Lots of great selection and knowledgeable staff. The store is small and it can often get really busy. While the staff is knowledgeable I do sense from time to time that they are just working a job and don't really LOVE working here. There is no pressure to the sale and they offer complimentary boot treatments even if you never bought your Blundstones from this location. They do it while you wait and that is cool. Parking is on the street and there are some great coffee shops nearby. read more

I happen to be a fan of the old tyme adage of doing one thing, and doing it extremely well. I really enjoy the notion of a store that is small and extremely specialized; for instance, only selling boots that come from Australia. I dare you to get more specific than that. In one trip there, I discovered the difference between "Emus" and "Uggs" ("uhh, they're different brands?" my shopping buddy answered patronizingly) and that Blundstones only come in fun colours for kids. However, the persuasive salesman *did* tell me they were the second last pink pair in Canada, almost persuading me to buy them, two sizes too small! Now those are some mad selling skills (or I'm just dumb...or probably exaggerating). Most importantly, the staff really does know their stuff, a point proven by the fact that they can distinguish between Australian and American sizes, and actually think to ask this when assisting you. This in turn prevents mix-ups experienced by certain people I may or may not know *ahem* who should have known (and definitely do now) that Australian boots should be purchased at the store that knows them best! Haughty, inconsiderate staff at the Yonge St. The manager who gave her name as "Bronwyn the Store Manager" had us drive for an hour through Toronto to reach the store. Hellish drive. We called to let her know we'd be late. Her answer was, "no worries". When we got there she wouldn't let us in and she was miserable and rude about it. It seemed we'd kept her waiting an extra 15 mins. (to buy $600 worth of shoes). According to her, "we hadn't expressed ourselves correctly" so she no longer wanted our business. Great store - when you're buying. Not so much when you have a problem with your boots! BEWARE! A few years ago, the soles of my Blundstone boots disintegrated. The rubber literally fell apart. I took them into the on Queen St. West in Toronto and was told "It happens" and no relief was offered. Instead the boots were sent to the sores shoemaker who removed the soles and glued on new ones. The glue lasted a few weeks before the soles started coming away. I returned them. They returned them to their shoemaker - same result. (When I wrote to Blundtone they told me that their boots should not be re-soled "due to their construction!" yet this did not prevent the store taking them in, sending them to their shoemaker and taking my $100!) The same thing just happened to my wife's Blundstones. The soles literally fell apart - catastrophically. They cannot be worn. I wrote to Blundstone and this is what they said: "We do not suggest resoling Blundstone boots due to their method of construction. Blundstone soles are mold injected to the uppers. A cobbler would replace the sole by gluing a new one on. As you have found out, this will not adhere properly and will fall off after a short period of time. As well, resoling a pair of Blundstone boots can also cost around $100.00 which is half the price for a new pair." Nowhere during the buying process do they warn you that your boots will fall apart if you don't keep them in an air-conditioned environment. Notwithstanding, my local cobbler glued on new soles and they have remained perfectly attached for a number of years. Another $85 spent. They went on to say "The problem is called hydrolysis. It can occur when the PU is stored in a warm climatic conditions. If stored for an extended period, the footwear should be stored in air conditioned premises. Failure to observe these precautions can lead to premature deterioration"! My research tells me that Hydrolysis is defined as "the chemical breakdown of a compound due to reaction with water". So, on this basis, they're saying that Blundstone boots dissolve in water? No, what they're saying is that they dissolve in slightly humid conditions (like a closet) It follows then, that if you live anywhere except in one of the world's great desert areas, Blundstones aren't for you. If they know their boots fall apart unless "kept in an air-conditioned environment"! why do they not remedy the situation instead of blaming the customer for "storing them incorrectly"?. Why do they not warn us? If you buy this b.s. and think that four years is an acceptable lifetime for these rough and tough boots then go ahead and buy a pair! If you think that this pathetic excuse for an excuse is complete and utter nonsense, then stay away! My Roots boots have been stored in the same "unacceptable" environment for 35 years and their soles look pretty much as good as new - and they have had a much harder life than the Blundstones. Despite thier advertising claims, Blundstone make a crappy product - and they deny all liability for a failure which, if so obvious, should have been corrected. read more

Was looking forward to finally purchasing my first pair of Blundstones and since I was told my a few friends to buy them at Australian Boot Company because they were really helpful, I felt confident I'd get great service. Now I admit, I ask a lot of questions. I wanted to know why so many people had blundstones, what makes them so great, are they waterproof, not crazy questions but I wanted to be informed. My sales person mostly seemed like he couldn't be bothered to answer anything. I just wanted to feel confident in my purchase. I'm not a frivolous person and wanted to feel like I was getting a good product, not something that's just considered fashionable. I got to the cash, asked about the warranty, barely got an answer from him, pressed a bit and someone else piped up to help. I asked about the cleaning I read they do. I said something on the lines of 'lifetime cleaning' and a very rude lady decided to answer and very rudely said 'lifetime of the boot, not your lifetime'. Eek. My husband tried to joke and she just gave him a dirty look and went back to her task behind the till. Not really sure why she decided to answer if she wasn't going to be nice! Was I impressed? No. Am I considering returning the boot, yes? Just because I don't feel confident in their customer service. Seem they just hang back and ride on the coat tails of them being popular. read more

Blunnies here are very expensive. I bought my 550s from Australia Direct for $89.95 plus about $30 shipping. To be fair I received a reply from ABC which I am posting in part: "No waiting, and no duty and shipping hassles. We are experienced boot fitters, who can make sure you get the best fit and style for your needs, and we really pride ourselves on our customer service." My wife and I have purchased a number of pairs of Blundstones over the years. Construction boots, chunk soles, etc. We each have at least 2 pairs apiece. They were great boots until they started to just fall apart on the soles. Cracked soles, soles just falling apart along the whole bottom and my safety boots just splitting with the nail proof bottom literally dropping off. What gives with this? These are $170 - $190 boots that should last. The leather is fine but these soles are ridiculously cheap. They must have outsource production to China to save money to create new demand. I see now they have a new SPS sole that may last....who knows??? Store did not want to back up their products, so we had to have them resoled elsewhere so we could have confidence in the way a new sole would wear. Save your money! They're just not worth it! read more

I stopped by the store just after noon on Dec. 27 intent on buying some work boots and wool insoles. There was one other customer in the store (with his chocolate labrador retriever) and three staff. One of the young men working that day was attending to the customer, another fellow was visible at the rear of the shop putting stock on some shelves and a young lady was sitting at the checkout. I easily found the boots I wanted and was looking forward to trying some on since I have heard nothing but good things about Blundstone work boots. The fellow looking after the customer looked at me a few times, said nothing, looked away and continued to serve his customer. The other fellow stocking the shelves walked into the shop, looked at me, spoke to his colleagues, the other customer, the dog, looked at me again, turned, and walked to the back of the store. At this point the other customer already in the store stood to walk around in the second pair of boots he was trying on and let his dog loose. The woman at the cash was quite animated as the dog went looking for treats that were clearly available. The nice lady at the cash found the dog treats, gave some to the nice dog, proceeded to put on her coat, walk right past me as if I wasn't there and out the front door. A few minutes later, another young lady walks in the door and the fellow from the back walks up the the front of the store, looks at me again, looks away, then asks the young lady if she needs some help. He finds some boots for her to try, looks at me again and disappears into the back of the shop. I get another glance from the other guy before he disappears into the basement (maybe for more dog treats). By now I have been in the store for at least 15 minutes and not a word has been said to me by three employees. The dog had received more service than I did. I wondered out loud "WTF?" and left the store with no Blundstones. Fifteen minutes later I walked out of the Dr. Marten's store a few blocks to the east with my new boots. I have never been ignored like this in any other retail establishment. I will never, ever consider buying anything from them in the future, nor will I recommend them to anyone at any time. read more

I've owned and loved blundstones since the age of 13 when I got my first pair for showing ponies. I've been a loyal customer since then, always having at least one pair in my possession and going as far as owning a pair for the barn, a pair for the street and a black chisel toe version when I had to dress all fancy-like eg.a wedding. My 12 year old has been wearing blunnies since jk and now my 2 year old sports the brown blunnies. So, when I made a special trip to the actual blundstone store in Toronto, it was like coming home. I made the trip to T.O from Hamilton for 2 reasons: 1. I had a coupon from The Royal Winter Fair which was only valid at the 2 Blundstone stores in Toronto and 2. because the website said that if I wore my old blundstones into the store, they would reward my loyalty with a discount on my new pair. Being that Blundstones are NEVER on sale, this was too good to be true. However, neither the website guarantee nor the coupon had any fine print that disallowed the user to combine any other offers and neither had an expiry date. Fantastic right?! Not so much:( The decidedly unenthused salesperson ( who happened to be the store manager) was not only unwilling to unpack a new shipment - which was on the sales floor - to access the boots I wanted in my size ( hard to believe that the Blundstone store had less stock of blundstones than my local Soft Moc) but gave me an incredibly difficult time in honouring either sale offer. She informed me that they had stopped accepting the coupon from the Royal in February - I received the coupon in the previous November, meaning if we took her version ad truth, the coupon was only valid for 3 months, but again there WAS NO EXPIRY DATE on the coupon. Next she said that while the promise to offer a discount on new boots when the old were worn in was indeed on the website at that very moment, she had mistakenly forgot to remove it from the website and could not honour it because the offer no longer applied! Ok to recap : no expiry date on the coupon and no fine print stating that offers could not be combined AND offer for discount still on website with no expiry date. She said she would give me only one or the other but they could not be combined. I asked her to point out where the company stated that fact. She could not but stuck to her guns. Then she said the offer to wear the old boots in was not a discount as stated on the site but was a free pair of socks. I said that would be fine with me but she relentlessly refused. Finally after my 12 year old and I had almost lost our minds over the cheapness and absurd lack of customer service, she relented and allowed us a pair of socks and our $18.70 discount. I cannot believe the money I have spent on this product over the years and I had to expend a ridiculous amount of energy to have my legally binding coupon and gift awarded to me. Again, I was not trying to use out of date offers, I have always paid full price( which btw, now that the boots are made in Indonesia, they are not as worth the $200+) and I was left with a really bitter taste in my mouth. Having recently operated my own retail establishment I would be horrified to have this girl representing my interests, let alone manage the store! This store manager is a real blight on my blundstone journey -she needs to go:( read more
