I've donated over One Hundred times and I was treated like I didn't belong there at all. I appreciate the time I've spent there and the donation process, but I'm just not going to donate there anymore. I don't feel comfortable donating in a place where employees treats people like that. This one was the worst one ever. I've been to ARUP Blood services twice to donate blood. The facility is clean and well staffed…read more It is very clinical though and you have to answer a slew of questions to make sure you are healthy and don't have contaminated blood. Which is a good thing. But that process takes almost as long as the blood donation itself. After giving a blood sample via finger prick, and a quick check of vitals like blood pressure, pulse and temperature, if you qualify, you are allowed to donate your blood. And by donate, I mean just that. You give your blood to a corporation that then sells it to needy people in the hospital. ARUP used to give out some gift cards for a fast food meal or such but today I wasn't offered anything, other than a lottery chance to win some lawn seat pop concert tickets to AJR. I'm not 100% sold on this model because it's a bit like college athletics where the athletes take the risk and the college gets the rewards. At ARUP the only reward is a grab bag of cookies and drinks after the donation to replace some calories lost during the blood draw. Despite my reservations I donate blood because there are people who might literally die without access to blood transfusions. So I, somewhat hesitantly will continue to give my blood, even though it would be nice to get some kind of reasonable compensation for my time and fluids. Overall it's rather painless and the event only takes about 45 minutes in all. And who knows who I might be helping?

Even when we've had to see other nurses because Kaitlin wasn't available, they've all been wonderful. Honestly, the nurses here consistently show more care and compassion than some of the doctors.
