The Red Cross is the one place that you can say without a shadow of a doubt saves lives . It's a place that although you say to yourself you'll never need in your lifetime you never really know that for sure . They supply blood to countless people , your kids , your neighbors, your co-workers and more importantly to people you don't know at all . People will stand in line for hours on Black Friday or when the new iPhone comes out but they wouldn't take a quarter of that time to do something that can really help others . These are some of the nicest people you'll have the pleasure meeting the make the process quick and as painless as possible( no it doesn't hurt either ) . Go give today and save a live they're always looking for new donors , the life you save may be your own .

I…read morecontacted this location after reading the reviews for the other plasma donation center in town, and thought that this one with its slightly better reviews would be a better fit. Unfortunately that was not the case. When I called on Friday I was told the center does not accept new donations by appointment, all new donors must do walk-in only, but the policy on that is very opaque and nonexistent at best. Nothing on the website says that it is a "first come, first serve" basis. In fact when I spoke to someone on Friday about a new donation, he said come in anytime before five. Now if it were first come first serve, why would I not be told that then? Monday, when I went in slightly before 3 o'clock I was told that I would be unable to become a donor today, and that I should come back early morning tomorrow. When I balked at this, and asked why, they said that it was simply because of manpower, they didn't have enough nurses to fully run the facility, and that there were already two people ahead of me in line. I called back after a few minutes on the way home to question the policy even further. Not only did the website not say anything, neither did the man that I spoke with on Friday. Of course the receptionist simply denied, denied, denied it. "I wouldn't have told you that," she said. Well that's great, but that guy did, and why would you run a business where you can only take a certain amount of donors at any one time and not say on your website "hey, don't come by, we don't have room for you." Why would you even have that policy in place to begin with. It would all be so much clearer if you could simply schedule your donation so that you weren't just rolling the dice by coming in on a random day at a random time. That is not respectful of your donors nor the time that they take in order to to donate. It doesn't matter if you're paying them money or not, that's just disrespectful. So no, I will not be donating at this location, they have lost me as a "customer" (or rather a donor). I have no intention of coming back nor would I suggest anyone use this facility for the blatant disrespect they showed the customers by this first come first serve policy. You close at 7 PM it's 3 PM and you have two new donors ahead of me and mine that's on you that is not incomet for me to come back another day. Or simply you're assuming that I will come back no thanks I have better things to do than keep rolling the dice thinking that you guys can take me. I don't need to do this that badly, and maybe that's the problem. Maybe most of the people that donate plasma are in desperate spots and so they simply assume that you will do it because you're desperate to get paid. I'm not, maybe that's the difference. Avoid this company at all cost. They do not respect you.

I went to Dr. Docu as a new patient hoping for good communication…read more The waiting room is gorgeous, but it doesn't make up for his lack of empathy or understanding of who I am. First, he slammed my use of Paxil, saying, "of all the anti-depressants it is the worst." According to whom? Yes, it is old school, but I have used it for many years, and it works for me. They still manufacture it, don't they? Next, he practically insisted I have a flu shot, pneumonia shot and shingles shot. I only take the Covid vaccine as I am over 65 and I use Chinese herbs if I feel like I'm getting sick. When I told him he looked at me as if I were nuts. Clearly, he has no knowledge about homeopathic or naturopathic medicines, which in this day and age, I feel a good doctor should know about. The second time I went in I saw his nurse. An elderly woman asked to go ahead of me and they let her! I had another appointment after Docu's, and this made me late and unhappy. He is not a good listener and I felt put down, rather than understood. Their offices are not punctual and play favorites, and this is annoying and unacceptable. I would not recommend his offices.

I find it interesting that the YELP reviews are so clearly polarized. 1 star or 5- no in between- this most definitely shows that something is wrong with the way Dr. Docu runs his practice- and I can attest to that. I am sad that strict policies prevent a doctor from caring about potential patients (customers). Relying on current customers to uphold his good name- that's one way of marketing a business- but policies that drive away potential business are more vastly damaging to reputation and eventually business profitability. I am not a highly educated doctor- just a lowly well-educated citizen that sees something VERY wrong with the way this practice is managed.

I double checked the website and there is NO indication of "please dress conservatively" or anything close to it. I called the day before to see if it would even be worth going. The lady on the phone felt like she was reading off a prompt and sounded incredibly nervous/unsure of herself. So I went today just to accompany my boyfriend. You'd think they have extra tshirts if this was really that bit a deal but whatever. My other issue was that I had to use the restroom real bad and the lady was like "you'll have to use the restroom next door." Okay but why? Third and final issue with this place was the fact that the lady at the door (not sure if it was the same lady who I talked to on the phone) looked and sounded like she had zero confidence in whatever they trained her in. If you're going to work at any kind of medical facility, you can't do this to patients/clients. It leaves them feeling nervous/not okay (I know because I work in the medical field). If you don't know something, don't be afraid to tell them "let me ask my colleague and I'll get back to you." Overall I left just not having a good feeling about this place AT ALL. One last thing, if there's conditions that permanently ban you from donating plasma, STATE THAT ON THE WEBSITE! Their cancer section just says (basically) "please talk to our nurses to discuss your condition". Hodgkin's lymphoma is a type of blood cancer that permanently bans you from donating any kind of organ, blood, or plasma for life. This is universal knowledge within the medical community. Boyfriend couldn't even donate today either - apparently a specific mental health condition is completely ineligible despite having ZERO risk of bring transfered via bodily fluids.

Inside the place is cold and open with plenty of machines to "hook up to" however this is where the platitudes stop. First, it's not clear that your first month of giving, the patient is rewarded roughly $100 per visit up to 5 visits (this varies based on your weight). Next you can give only twice a week but isn't clear is that if you get sick or anything that pushes any visits past the month, you'll be rewarded around half the amount per visit. Also, the amount after your first month is roughly 50% of the initial visits. Next the time to give is outrageous. When the patient walks in, there's a machine that asks roughly 30 questions. From there you'll be funneled into a health check line that can take up to an hour, depending on how many nurses are in the 4 stations (typically it's 2 or 3). After taking vitals another line awaits where it can take yet another hour while you wait for a seat at the machines. Mind you there's no chairs so you'll be standing the whole time. My personal experience isn't great with the staff which isn't a slight rather who has the expertise to help me. I'm fit for my age yet my veins are "deep and roll" which means only two of the nurses there can hit them normally. One can imagine the "fun" I have when a vein is missed and has to be re-entered or worse, they dig to find it. Out of my 7 visits I've only been able to give a whole bottle 4 times and here's where the communication wasn't clear. I was told if I wasn't able to give 3x in a row, I'd be up for review. We'll that isn't exactly true as if you cant give a certain amount per month and/or they miss a lot then you'll be under review. Honestly, I could care less now as I'm tired of being helpful. Also there are 3 rows of beds but one isle is never used, thus the long wait time. I'm not sure if there are other facilities but this branch isn't great and I won't be back. They're always behind, the average weight time is over 2.5 hours, the rules and regulations aren't clear and very few are on an expert level with a needle. After I've had over 13 operations and 8 procedures my heart desires to give back and help. However it it's too difficult I'll either stop or find other alternatives.
