We had to get referrals to specialists and Dr Bells nurse Dominique I think I spelled that right had the referrals through Tricare before the end of the day which the other place I had to call several times to get. I've been going to Central Baldwin Physicians for a few years now. Recently in May I called to get…read morerefills on my reflux medicine. I hadn't been given but a six month supply. I was told that they couldn't refill my medicine unless I came into the office because I hadn't been there since November. So I used MD Live to get refills because I was going out of town and couldn't go in. I called yesterday to make my appointment and told them that I needed to come in for refills on my medicine because they wouldn't fill it. They asked me who prescribed it and I said Jennifer Pope. They made me an appointment with her. My appointment was this morning at 8:30. I waited 40 mins to get called back. When I get back there I confirm that I need refills with the nurse. I also told her that my ear is bothering me and I might have an ear infection that I'd like the doctor to look at it. Then I was put through a depression survey. Nurse leaves then the doctor comes in. She told me that she can only give me a 30 day supply because Doctor Bell requires labs and an annual exam to obtain your refills. I stated that the office staff never explained that and I have basically wasted my time today and I would've made an appointment for what was required for the refills. She apologized and said she would find out why that happened with the office staff. She left the room. I realized that she didn't look at my ear and stepped out and told the nurse. The nurse came back and said that she was already with another patient. I said I can wait. Then she mentioned that I need to come back for my annual and I cut her off and said no, I won't be waiting for my ear to be looked at until my next appointment and I wasn't going to leave until she did. Nurse leaves. I hear whispering in the hall and what sounds like then she can wait. Enter the office manager. She begins to explain to me their annual exam requirements etc. I cut her off and tell her that isn't why I am upset. I'm upset because I told the nurse I needed my ear looked at and was told I that I needed to make another appointment because she doesn't have time. Mind you the doctor wasn't in my room longer than 3 minutes and I offered to wait and I had told the nurse about my ear before the doctor came in. She went out of the room to find out the situation from the nurse. I heard them whispering about what the timeline was when I asked about the doctor looking at my ear. Then I waited for 10 more minutes and nobody came back. As I sat there it dawned on me that the office manager had said that it was in November that I had seen Dr. Bell and had an annual which means that it hasn't even been a year since my last. I decided that I didn't want those people looking at my ear and would find a competent doctor with a competent staff that hopefully will give a crap about their patients.

Doctor thought that it might be too soon to be tested and advised to take an at home test the next day and if positive that I only needed to call the office and they would call the prescription into my pharmacy. I did as I was directed and the employee at the doctors' office didn't seem to be willing to help me. I hung up the phone and waited two and a half hours before calling the pharmacy and was told that the prescription was never called in. Now the doctors' office as well as the pharmacy are both closed and I will have another night of not getting any relief. Doctors! Please talk to your staff about how important it is to have compassion for your patients and to do as instructed.

The sleep apnea clinic is very disappointing. I went thru two very uncomfortable sleep apnea…read moretestings which determined I had severe sleep apnea. After two appointments with no help finally on the third appointment got someone to listen to me. Their recommendation was a CPAP machine which isn't that bad but the machine never worked correctly. I could never get help with that. After two sleep testings I still have severe sleep apnea and now a worthless CPAP machine. Don't waste your time with Pulmonary Assoc. none of the doctors or nurses in the sleep apnea clinic only give a crap about you and only how fast they can get your $$ and shove you out the door is the way you will be treated. I can't warn you enough not to waste your time going to them. They will only ignore you, as they did me. You deserve better.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Nurse Charlotte Byrd, who works in palliative care at Mitchell…read moreCancer Institute, is an absolute disgrace to her profession. She is dishonest, cold, and completely unfit to work with terminally ill patients. I came to her during one of the most vulnerable times of my life, battling stage 4 cancer. Instead of compassion, I was met with lies, avoidance, and outright negligence. She deliberately gave me false information and dismissed my care needs multiple times -- not just once. She's not only untrustworthy, she's dangerous. Palliative care is supposed to be about improving quality of life. Charlotte Byrd made mine worse. She lied to get out of doing her job, left me without support, and treated me as a burden, not a human being. Her behavior is not only unethical -- it borders on medical malpractice. No one in this condition should have to endure her attitude, her deception, or her refusal to fulfill basic responsibilities. I do not feel safe around her and I fear for any other patient under her care. I have reported her to hospital administration and am filing a formal complaint with the Alabama Board of Nursing. I strongly urge Mitchell Cancer Institute to remove her from their staff immediately. No patient--especially someone in palliative care--should be treated like this. She should be fired. Immediately.

I reviewed and updated My Chart and checked in online, so I didn't have to do it in the office; I only had to pay my co-pay. I had an address correction on My Chart, and after that was done, I waited only a few minutes before I was called back for my appointment with Dr Adrien DiVittorio. After taking my weight, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, the nurse asked the usual questions about changes in medications and issues I've had since my last visit. After summarizing what I needed to discuss with Dr. DiVittorio, I waited until he arrived. Dr. DiVittorio had already reviewed My Chart updates and the summary, so we got right to him asking questions and changing medication to get better results. I was given a sample inhaler to start on and will follow up with the nurse practitioner in four months to see how I do on the new regimen. I like how Diagnostic and Medical Clinic and Dr. Adrien DiVittorio's Office work. Their system is very efficient.
