Normally I would give a "10" as everyone I have encountered has been very professional, kind and caring. Always making sure you are okay and know exactly what they are going to do. But, I recently had to have some additional paperwork submitted. The nurse who was working with me was great and gave me a coupon for additional compensation on my next two visits. I thought this was very kind. He actually wrote the date wrong, so I had another nurse update and approve it. I gave plasma today and submitted the coupon. The manager who processed it was tentative. She got another employee and they went in the back. When they came out I was told, rather tersely, that they changed their policy and would not honor the coupon for the two donations promised. I was paid for today only. I said the coupon was issued by them, just last week, and should be honored as is. They refused. I am extremely disappointed at the lack of integrity of the person who refused to honor a coupon that they issued, and was approved by two ppl. I would advise anyone that comes here to request a professional or someone that has been doing this job for a while. A young short blonde haired lady attempted to put the needle in my arm, but missed and proceeded to try and poke around with the needle inside me to hit the vein. Doing so, she left scarring, bruising and swelling and walked off with an attitude asking someone for assistance to apply a separate needle inside my other arm. The Second young Lady was great. You schedule a time to come in. No long unpredictable lines. No waiting outside in the cold. This place is fast and knowledgeable!

Some days they're quick and other days you'll be waiting over an hour just to get screened. Sometimes you'll get screened quickly and wait in the bed for an hour before they get started. Definitely give yourself 3 hours for the appointment. They really do vary anywhere from 1-3 hours. They're very short staffed but instead of taking less appointments they keep piling everyone in. They either need to hire more people or take less appointments at a time. I oftentimes hear employees talk about how they're still working an hour or more past when they should have gone home because they feel bad leaving their coworkers in a bind. Just check out the compensation ahead of time, assume it'll take up to 3 hours and decide if it's worth your time or not. I will say that the facility is clean and almost everyone there is friendly and helpful. Apparently they don't control the number of appointments the center takes and they're short handed. It sounds like if the employees had a say they would be accepting less appointments than they do so they could handle the workload better. Communication could drastically improve. Went for my donation on Sunday, Aug 25th. Was stuck by a tech who did a very poor job at it. Had to have a 2nd tech try to stick me in the other arm and by the time they finally succeeded my line had clotted and the blood they did draw couldn't be returned. So now I am deferred for two months through no fault of my own. And the center could not even call to inform me of this. I had to find out when I signed into the app to find all my upcoming appointments have been cancelled. No information given on when I can donate again or anything. I am just a little disappointed at this establishment. They have a "Supervising Room" where spouses can take their children to change them or to watch while the other donates plasma. I have witnessed this being used numerous times, but never by parents, only by employees who decide to take breaks while on the clock. Today, I took my wife to donate and me and my 10M old daughter decided to sit in the playroom. We were visible by all staff, and it was clear we were doing nothing wrong, just waiting. My daughter was not making a single peep. One worker, who goes by the name "Carly", snitched me out to management that I was inside of the CHILD SUPERVISION ROOM. An older lady who's consistently an a** came in and told me she needs me to leave or be escorted out because the premises is 18+.... Okay? So why is there a child supervision room, complete with an entire baby changing station, magazines, toys, etc. in it? I understand needing to donate plasma, but if you have a family, BioLife may not be for you. They are always first to do what they can to ensure the crackheads receive the most money through promotions while parents get shit end of the stick while trying to make a couple extra dollars to make ends meet. It's clear to me that the young lady simply doesn't have children, nor the ability to possess compassion to know what it could be like. I arrived 10-min prior to my 9:05am scheduled appointment on a Fri to be told there would be a 1-hour wait. Let the waiting begin. At 9:55am, my pager went off and I was told it was just time for me to enter the building and sit in the last chair in line of donors to standby for screening. So more waiting. I finally got to a tech at 10:45am for my screening. Done with my screen by 10:50am to go stand in another line to go donate. More waiting. Keeping in mind that my scheduled appointment was for 9:05 AM. By the time I got to my screening, the techs were telling the donors entering that there was now a 2-hour wait. So many donors just turned around to leave when they heard the wait time. Not to mention that with all the waiting, their Wi-Fi only had one bar of service and the building is so solid that it's interfered with my Internet reception, so definitely bring a book, crocheting, or something not electronic with you if you come here. Today was a disaster. I checked in at 10, did my questions, and had my vitals checked. (by a new employee being trained so it took longer), and went to my assigned section. There was a delay in getting me hooked-up. Then I was told the computer system was down. I waited 2-1/2 hrs. (the last 15 min. in my car because the building was so cold). i informed staff that I was going to go to my car to get warm and would come back in in a few minutes and check the status of the system. I was told that was fine by two people. When I went back in, the system is still down, they have no idea for how long. I was then told that even if it comes back up today, I can't donate now because I went to my car. This is ridiculous. I made every effort to make a donation today. It was certainly not my fault I was unable to do so. Most of the time, all but a very few of the staff are cordial, professional, and efficient. Big time scam. They promise $900 for your initial 8 donations. Then when you show up with the coupon they say, we aren't offering that anymore. The amount for a donation keeps dropping based on how tough the economy is. If they have lots of donors they pay less. A few months ago they were paying $35 for your first donation, $65 for your second in the same week. It dropped to $25/$65, then $20/$60. My last donation was in Ypsilanti Michigan. They gave me $20 on Saturday and then when I went the following Tuesday, they only gave me $20. When I brought it to their attention, they said their week begins on Tuesday so my second donation didn't count for the $60. So for driving 40 miles round trip and sitting for an hour and a half with a needle in my arm, they paid me slightly better than a McDonald's worker! Another time the phlebotomist punctured my vein and I had a massive bruise on my arm from all the blood leakage. Ready for the punchline? These companies sell plasma for about $400 a unit and hospitals charge 4x that for it when they sell it back to patients. I had gone in for my one year physical and was told by the nurse I have had my ears double pierced at some time in my life, which I haven't. We went back and forth about it and she marked down in my file that my ears have been doubled pierced at some point in my life so I was disqualified from donating again. I could never recommend anyone else to go, If this is the level of care one can expect from a nurse there. I couldn't trust a place that is so incompetent in the future. fastest i've ever been in and out is 2 hours, longest maybe 4 due to their very poor scheduling system and understaffing. they definitely don't pay attention to detail and move you along as if they are assembly line workers. some are doing their best poor management. I left with major swelling in my arm and wasn't able to finish donating after the needle was moved in my arm several times with blood dripping on the chair. The staff at this location are extremely friendly and professional. You can tell they all work hard and try to make it an easy experience for everyone. If YOU do what you're supposed to do then it's a simple process. Just make sure you read the FAQ section of the app/website. If it's you're first time coming you have to bring social security card, ID, and proof of address. Don't be surprised when they ask for these things. You're first time you will need a physical before your donation so it will be around 2 hours. Your donations after that will all be approximately 1 hour. The best time to go is in the mornings or early afternoon before people come off work. Make sure you take advantage of the promotions they give out. I will receive $400 this week for 2 donations!
