At around $30 per person for an all-you-can-eat experience, it's a fair price for the variety they offer. The lineup spans across galaxies with sushi, Chinese American favorites, ramen, hot pot, and more. The buffet area was well kept, clean, and the food looked fresh with no signs of anything leftover from the Clone Wars. The hot pot station deserves a special mention. Frozen meats and vegetables were neatly organized next to the sauce bar, which felt like the Jedi Temple of condiments. Pro tip: don't overload your plate the first or second round. You'll need stamina and strategy to get through this feast. Boba drinks in the dessert fridge were a pleasant surprise and a fun touch. The automatic 12% service fee might catch some diners off guard, but it's clearly posted at the hostess station and can be removed if you ask. For groups of six or more, the service fee bumps up to 15%. Still...the price for the selection isn't bad. Overall, Umi was a great experience. The food was fresh, the atmosphere lively, and the variety impressive. Definitely worth the credits, and I'd gladly return on another mission through the galaxy of all-you-can-eat dining.

Even then, it was nowhere near good enough to justify the $29.99 price. Everything else felt extremely overpriced for the quality. For a buffet at that price point, I expected much better food across the board. If you do not like sushi, do not come here, because that is the only thing that was even somewhat worth eating. Paying $29.99 per person for this experience was rough. Friendly staff and a clean space cannot make up for food that does not match the price. I will not be returning.

My only regret is not posting this sooner because they're closing in August and I want to give them some more business before they do. They plan on reopening at a new location, but I don't know it yet. Service was a little slow, but admittedly, they were a little busy. They started to seat us, but someone else took that table before we could get to it. Instead of explaining to those people that table was for us, they made us wait a little longer for another table. Once seated, I ordered the Canadian roll and the soft-shell crab roll as well as an order of steamed edamame to share with my wife and a bowl of miso soup. My wife ordered the spicy combo that comes with the Hoosier roll, Bob's roll, and California roll along with a bowl of miso soup. The miso soup came out hot, and full of flavor. The edamame came out after that and it was nicely steamed with sea salt on it. It was just as tasty! My wife enjoyed her spicy combo; all of the sushi was tasty. I loved my sushi as well. I always love the Canadian roll with the cream cheese, salmon, and avocado on the inside and the fish roe on top with the spicy sauce drizzled below it; it was wonderful as usual. The soft-shell crab roll was delicious. I love the bit of deep fried crab that's piled on top of that sushi. It was all so mouthwatering good. All in all an excellent visit. The restaurant was clean, the food was great and the server more than made up for the slight delay on our table. We will definitely come back a few more times before it closes in August.

Even with the springtime rush making the parking a bit of a challenge, the atmosphere inside is wonderfully inviting. I managed to snag a darling little corner for myself, and the energy was just perfect. The hospitality here is truly top-tier; both the cashier and the gentleman behind the counter are simply lovely. My waiter was beyond charming and presented a menu with an impressive array of sophisticated choices everything from Sichuan Beef Noodle Soup to Steamed Eggplant and Beef Pancakes, with most entrees beautifully priced between $15 and $20. I decided on the Beef Noodle Soup ($12), and oh my goodness it arrived in a mere ten minutes! Talk about impeccable service. The broth was divine, and the meatballs were prepared to perfection. I was so caught up in the moment that I completely forgot to snap a photo before finishing every last bite! It was an absolute triumph of a meal. As much as I enjoyed the atmostphere, eating in a nice place on Mass Ave., the main thing was the pleasant demeanor of my server. Jash really took time to connect and was so attentive to my table. He always checked in, and made eye contact when passing by. It's obvious he takes pride in how he presents himself, is very kind, with a big smile. He made recommendations with no pressure. Made a little small-talk and made me feel comfortable. Kept glass filled. I look forward to returning to try a different dish. Maybe Jash will be my server again.

Next time, I'm going to try the Cherry Bourbon Smash! For my main course, I had the Dynamite Roll and Godzilla Roll. I'm really big on my sushi cooked and these were perfection, the right level of spicy for me and I was able to go home with leftovers! Out of everything, the Dynamite roll was my favorite and will likely be my go-to in the near future! The service is amazing here! Waitresses were attentive and managed the room well. It was around midday when I arrived and the crowd was light but soon picked up as it got later. Staff continued to take care of customers and everyone looked to be having a good time at their tables with family and friends, so a happy dining room means a great staff! The ambiance here is chill! It's perfect for a date night, solo outing, family dinner or celebration! During my visit, I believe there was a table of ladies having a bachelorette-type dinner/outing and they were having a good time! You can come dressed up or casual. Food is great, staff is great and I loved the vibe. I will be back!

I just felt like the flavors and depth of flavor were lacking, especially compared to sushi rolls I've had in California or at high end sushi places. Now I know that these types of restaurants aren't comparable to a sushi place at a college town but I was a bit disappointed. I didn't really dig the roll with cream cheese. So food was so-so. I guess this is decent for a college town though, since it is one of the only sushi places around and there isn't fresh fish nearby due to lack of nearby body of water. This review is based on my most recent experience based on what I ordered. It could be higher if I ordered other items. I do want to try to nigiri, but I know I can't compare it to the Michelin star nigiri I had in Chicago or fresh high end omakase in california, so I won't keep my expectations too high. I got takeout so can't speak about service or ambiance.
