I made the appointment after a lengthy questionnaire to see if I was eligible before making an appointment. It said I was eligible, but in person I was informed differently. Only after an hour of poking , blood sample collection, more invasive questions did I find out I could not donate if I was on Prep. Put that information on your advertisements, Lobby desk or something. I guess you have to appear non discriminatory, so I won't hold my breath on that happening. read more

Reading the reviews I was nervous to get my plasma drawn here, but I can tell you it isn't as bad as people say it is. The waits are long on busy days and times, but I feel that's expected for any business. Because of this I've gone during less crowded days and times and it's been a smooth experience. They were very helpful in helping me understand how the process of plasma drawing works as a first-time-donor. They were very supportive when I was nervous about donating as well. This was a horrible first-time experience. It started off with the front saying kids were not allowed in which was nowhere on the instructions of getting there. Not that I needed my kids in there, but I also did not need them sitting in the car for an hour in a half. This was manageable just inconvenient. The worst part is when I was in the nurse office. Diane was very rude, condescending, did not seem to know much about her job, was not paying attention, and seemed like she hated her job like she didn't want to be there. She asked me literally 4 times after telling her no every time that I did not have asthma. One of the medications she asked about I told her that I take for allergies, and she then again asked if I take it for asthma. I had to tell her multiple times what medications I was on even though I followed instructions and brought my list in for her to see. I was literally told to go the nurse station and being my first time I was not sure I needed to go into her room specifically but I was also told that I needed to eat the food that was given to me. As I walked into the nurse station after she rudely asked me if I needed anything she scolded me for eating. I said, "I was told to eat," and she rudely responded, "not in here you don't. I need to look into your mouth." I told her, "I am just following directions here." At this time I was so irritated already and she was making this experience even worse. She asked me my name three times even though she had it right in front of her. She asked why I took certain meds and I told her for radiculopathy and she said, "I don't even know what that is." Then she googled it to try to learn after she had to look up how to spell it. She then asked if I had surgeries and I told her one for a hernia and she asked me three times if I had surgery on my neck which I repeated no every time. She asked if sitting in a chair for 30 min was going to be a problem for my neck and radiculopathy and I told her no and had to repeat myself. All in all she denied me to donate because she had to read over 200 pages on what radiculopathy was since she did not know and needed to send it to a provider. I even told her I was followed by neurosurgery and had no pain today which had to again repeat more than twice. I told her what the diagnosis was and that the big giant needle she was trying to scare me away from was not an issue. I have no issues with needles big or small and I feel like it was my decision if I wanted a needle in my arm because of my diagnosis. I am also a nurse in a medical office and this was one of the worst medical professionals that I have ever encountered. She had no idea what anything was, how to say medications, and gave little regards to me as a person. I will never go back to this place. read more

Was diagnosed by them as having a pucking disorder 2 tears ago. As it turns out it was a vitamin deficiency which i recovered from Over a YEAR ago. They refused to let me donate unless my dr sent a note. I told them they are trash and told them ro f***k off. Im banned, i dont care. Ive seen some pretty knarly people donating plasma. If you are a woman and are honest about anxiety, ptsd, vitamin deficiencies etc, you are screwed. read more

Their coupon for getting $800 as a new donor seems like it was a scam. I went in, started my trial with this coupon and just when I had one more donation left to get to 800, the machine I was hooked up to CONVENIENTLY breaks and was unable to return my red blood cells. The nurse then told me that I couldn't donate for 8 weeks, thus ruining my chances to complete my coupon in time. What a joke. read more

First, I want to just state that this review is not based on care while donating plasma, all the techs and intake individuals are great! With that said, there seems to be some lack of knowledge when it comes to the required processes with "re-instatement" Back story: I had been donating regularly for a year without any issues, then one day I test "positive" for Hep B, 6 days after my previous donation which was negative. I am vaccinated and have been for years (which is nearly 100% effective), previous tests, most recently being in 2022 indicate that I am immune and vaccination status was disclosed at my initial evaluation with Biolife. When you test positive with a donation, you immediately get barred from donating at any Biolife Plasma center (understandably), but you also get put on a national disqualifying list, which prevents you from donating at any plasma or blood donation center in the US. When I went to obtain my lab results the first time because they won't talk to you over the phone about it, I had told the nurse that I was vaccinated and she informed me that this result was not "diagnostic" but encouraged me to follow up with by Primary Care to do a full evaluation. I did this (which cost a couple hundred for the labs to be done, had I got to the hospital they quoted me almost $800--so call around if you ever have to have labs done). I took my labs showing that I was vaccinated and negative for any current or past infection to the Boise facility. The nurse then informed me that my main facility does not do the re-instatement process and I had to go to the Nampa facility and since the Boise facility doesn't do the process, she didn't know anything about it but that I can go and speak to a nurse there without an appointment. Now after the holidays and the recent winter storm I was able to finally make the 30 minute trek to the other facility to meet with a nurse. This nurse was a little confused because she's never had to do it and went to the facility manager who informed her that it was the manager's responsibility but that she was not available at the moment and would call me back, but wasn't able to tell me when and that I shouldn't wait. The nurse said that it would require multiple visits and the manager will call me to discuss, which may be later in the week. She called me within minutes of leaving to tell me that since Boise is my main facility and did the initial testing that they are responsible for my re-instatement process and it's not just the one facility that can do it and I needed to return to Boise with my labs that I left with them in Nampa. So my issue is that with something that is a pretty bid deal and in trying to, even if I don't donate with BLP again, at least get my name removed from the national list--only one person seems to really know what to do. There needs to be better training for facilities to help direct their clients better. Thankfully, I work in healthcare so I wasn't concerned about it being actually positive, but still this has been an expensive headache and still nothing has been resolved. My second issue is that if they are not technically diagnosing someone with positive infection, then why are they able to immediately list on the national registry without giving the client the opportunity to show it was a false positive? read more

I would never return to BioLife again. The quality of care has gone down significantly in the last 6 months . When I started the type of care they provided was good and their techs barely missed. A lot of their employees quit I believe there's a lot of new faces . I don't believe they are trained well because the last 2 months they were missing my veins constantly and digging causing a lot of bruising and pain in both my arms . The bruising would take long to heal and the nurse said it's just my "anatomy " but it didn't happen before . If they didn't miss the needle stick wasn't placed correctly the machines would be going off and the blood wouldn't flow that caused me to have a blood loss and I was deferred for 8 weeks for their mistakes . Before that I was not able to donate because the sterile needle was placed on the floor by accident so they couldn't proceed with my donation. They would also be in rush during intake and improperly place the BP cuff giving and off reading . Or not properly collecting enough blood that my "protein " or hematocrit would be low . I'm a nurse and I know how a blood pressure cuff should be placed and how blood should be collected they are NOT following proper protocol . I decided to go to CSL plasma not only do they pay higher but I've consistently donated for over a month and have had - 0 bruising and - 0 issues with my donation - 0 issues with my lab values and blood pressure That just shows quality matters and this location needs a serious employee education and further training. read more

My husband went in today to donate his plasma and the first time was very successful, however with his second go round he deals with an inexperienced and very very unprofessional nurse who pricks his damn arm the same arm he used before to then having to switch arms and leave with an unsuccessful withdraw!! Whoever Raquel is needs to be under review and potentially fired because the last thing anyone needs to have to deal with is putting their health on the line to donate to save lives then to have your own life jeopardized because someone don't know how to use a damn needle properly!!!!! I enrolled last week. The first initial visit is long and complex. And very time-consuming. I noticed most of the people doing the IVs were students. i was in for my first donation. It was an incomplete first donation. They stopped within the first few minutes. I got a little nauseous and I asked if this was normal. I have never donated before. So today i made an appointment for my first complete donation. They had a promotion that I saw online that was different from the one last week. A substantial difference . $250 more. So when I went in, I was told I'd have to show them the email. I already sent an email the day before asking about this before I came in for my visit. But I got no response. So when I asked, I was told I had to show them the email, but it is their online offer for enrollment. And when I showed them the promotion they said that expired two weeks ago. I was in last week , so a week off. I do not know why their promotions change so frequently. It's not fair that everyone isn't paid the same. A fair flat rate for everyone. I think BioLife should honor it. This made a difference if I donated today and in the future. They say this is life-saving plasma to get people in the door. Donating plasma is a serious thing to do. Biolife asks very intimate personal information and uses a digital fingerprint to identify your identity. I suggest not answering any questions with Mykella because she is a very sensitive e little flower and may she may come to a crossroad, for her feelings. Anyway, this procedure includes an anti coagulant that can cause death, days later. So, if you can get service from a phlebotomy that doesn't destroy the valves in your vein, you get to worry about who Biolife shares the intimate information you gave provided to them with others. read more

Absolutly depressing upon entering. The older front desk receptionist didn't smile, or offer any sort of expression at all. The line to actually have plasma drawn wrapped around the counter and employees laughed. Most of the " technicians" are high school students, or college students who received training in house and have no certifications. I had my vein blown through on my second visit. On top of that, conversations between staff were generally inappropriate for the work place, and overall, it was a terrible time. I've since been able to actually donate plasma, and nothing has changed in a month or so of visiting. Set your appointment for two hours before your next commitment because you'll be standing in line, and doing a lot of waiting around. The clientele is generally low income, and it shows. Be prepared for some quality people watching. Nobody seems to look up from their phones either. Everyone's glued to their screens. It's pretty depressing all around. read more

For the most part I would recommend BioLife. The staff has been nothing but nice, but the bureaucracy and at times lack of confidence harm my overall opinion of the facility. Specifically for me I had to do the intial pre interview three times as they seemed very incapable of getting the proper information required. I'd be asked to return with documents, which when supplied, would be asked for again. After awhile I was eventually given a green light to be met with lab techs who would be uncomfortable finding my veins. After awhile I decided that maybe this isn't for me. read more

Biolife helps save lives, just like donating any blood. But this place takes only your plasma and puts the blood back into your body. The process takes about an hour and then puts fluids back into your body. Your plasma helps to make many life-saving medications. You do get compensated for your time. Usually $60-80 a week plus specials, which honestly is a car payment if you do it weekly. If this is something that interests you, I have a referral code that gets you $500.00 in the first two weeks, which is awesome! Here is the process: You walk in and go over to a computer where you scan your fingerprint, answer some questions, and then go over to a tech. They will take your blood pressure, pulse, temperature, pinprick your finger and test your blood for its red cell count. If you pass all of that you then go to the tables where you get an IV for an hour. I have photos of it, but I didn't want to freak out anyone on Yelp that is scared of needles, because this is really a good thing to do for people needing these life-saving medications. You watch a few episodes of something on Netflix or one Game of Thrones and bam you're done! I chose to play soda crush and read the news. The money is on your card before you leave and that's it. You can go twice a week with at least one day in between. They have a daycare center here for you to use so it's convenient. Many Dr's and nurses donate their plasma. They have an app that you can use with a lot more FAQ's that help you to understand the plasma process and testimonials on the lives that are saved by the medications. You CAN'T donate blood and plasma-- it's one or the other. So if you donate to Red Cross, you can't give your plasma. Note: the first time that you donate, you will be there a little longer than the one hour because you have to be educated on the process, and see a nurse. I recommend you get a referral code from someone you know or inbox me because you make much more money on your first 5 donations ($250 more)! Whats better than helping save a life and make some coin at the same time? Whoop whoop. Oh, the workers-- they are all pretty nice. All professional and safety is first. The people here are fairly nice, the first few times I went were fine with no problems. However, the last 3 times I went, I got a hematoma in my left arm, did fine the next session and I went in today walked out with another hematoma. The first time I got one, the guy was wearing a mask for Halloween while pricking my arm. I thought it was concerning they allowed him to wear that for work and then he missed my vein of course. Today when I went in, I thought where the woman positioned the needle in my arm was a little weird, but proceeded to trust her. Both times were not my fault. I was pricked incorrectly and it caused my arms to bruise very bad. I didn't not move either, as my girlfriend has donated here before with no problems and gave me tips. I'm assuming this hasn't happened to her because her veins are more visible. I was a first time donor using the new donor coupon. I was deferred for 8 weeks without getting an offer of any other coupon, and I wasn't offered one the first time I got a hematoma as well. I was really disappointed because I missed out on a my coupon and the opportunity to donate. The ladies at the front are rude. I went in for only the 2nd time ever. I remember seeing a promotion for a daycare center on their website and nothing on their app about not being able to bring kids. I had thought I could just have my kid with me if it was closed, who would just read a book. Upon entering, they said she could sit in the waiting room of which I could see her the whole time. Then another rude nurse came up and said it wasn't possible. Fine, I'll reschedule. But when I told them they really should advertise that kids can't come or have something on their app that they don't have the day care center, they said, well Most people don't have their 7 year olds in the waiting room... as if I'm a terrible mom for bringing her when they are the ones with that advertisement and nothing otherwise on their app. She said they don't have it since Covid... well then, maybe some advertise it then. I love 25 minutes away. They are obviously not mothers and have no care in the world for people who are. Just rude. There are 5 other places in Boise to give at. Don't try to donate here if you have a tattoo sleeve. They are a two vein facility, so refused to let me donate because I have a sleeve on one side. The worst part though.. was that I checked in, in a tshirt, with my tattoos showing! And they proceeded to let me sit for over AN HOUR before calling me up and telling me I'm not able to donate because of my tattoos.. tattoos that were easily visible from the second I walked in the door. It's beyond frustrating when they tell you to eat an hour before your appointment, but when you get there you have to wait an hour to an hour and a half for a bed... and then it's now been 2.5 hours since eating, and I fail the protein test because I've waited forever for a bed... So I've given plasma a lot in my life below included on google reviews is a picture of my veins. I'm an lpn for st Luke's so can't say it's easy because I've been working for a hospital so long sticking seems easy. Question any of you non medical people think you'd have trouble with this stick? My phlebotomist blew my vain and needed to stick me three times. Tried to be nice about it we all make mistakes but good god lady step aside I'll stick myself if your that incompetent. I now have a giant purple welt and have been deferred for 8 weeks because my veins burst. if this wasn't bad enough this process took literally 3 hours. what's the point of having an appointment if you got one nurse to screen 50 new returning people. Spent 2.5 hours at Biolife today without donating. In the past when I donated plasma, AB Positive, the plasma centers were happy to have my blood since it's supposedly for universal burn victim but that was not the feeling I got from the center. First off they were understaffed, had booked to many clients, and detailing the information before hand could have saved me 2.5 hours of sitting and watching staff take people out of turn. I had to have my GP sign off on sleep apnea so I wasn't able to donate and they could simply put that in the information they put out. I took time away from my business thinking I was helping out by donating and then wasn't able to. I could understand if it was something that had a correlation between donating plasma and sleep apnea but there's not. I did share my experience with the center manager who was apologetic but I still lost over 3 hours with waiting in their office and drive time. The center manager had a quote outside his door about leadership is not "being in charge but about taking care of those in his charge", he should realize the donors are a part of that group and at no time did I ever feel like I was being taken care of. Got drawn into this place by a new donor drive that offered a premium for the first 8 donations within a 30-day period. First donation was a bit of a train wreck. They were very busy, so I ended up being there just over three hours without even donating. They infiltrated the vein in my right arm and, because of how long I had been there, decided to just give the whole blood back so I could donate in a couple days. Problem was my phlebotomist forgot to take out the saline, so when the machine attempted to pump that into the vein on my left arm, it caused a rupture and bled. I was patient- mistakes happen- but as a result of the bruising this caused, I was not allowed to donate for 14 days. I talked to Brenda at the Boise office on Eagle to see if my promotional period would be adjusted, and was told it wouldn't. I explained what had happened - that it was a result of a mistake on their end - and was told too bad. Thanks Brenda. In conclusion, you get here what I've come to expect. Impersonal behavior by the staff and constant skepticism, like you're asking for a handout instead of entering into a mutually beneficial agreement. I should mention here, though, that Kevin- one of the phlebotomists - was awesome during my second and third donations and a very personable guy. read more
