Dr. Binford is highly qualified but most of all she is caring and compassionate.  She listens to you and does not rush you through an exam. Dr. Binford delivered my son in 2001 and was great with prenatal care and delivery. I continued to go to her for annual check ups and birth control for four years after, and everything changed. As an educated woman who had done my research on IUDs, I tried to discuss changing my method of birth control with her. I had been divorced and knew I was finished having children. I explained to her that I wanted to switch to an IUD, so I wouldn't have the monthly expense of birth control pills. Much to my surprise, I was denied this option, since I was not in a monogamous relationship. I wasn't even prepared for this, when I asked what difference that made, she told me that I could get an STD. I countered with the FACT that birth control pills do not protect against STDs. I couldn't believe that a medical doctor, let alone an OB/GYN, couldn't give me one solid scientific argument as to why she felt the birth control method I had chosen wasn't a good option. I informed her that I was ending our relationship as Dr and patient and never looked back. Incidentally, my new OB completely respected my choice. We discussed the pros and cons of the device, he explained the procedure and even said,"Last time I checked, this is your body and you have a right to the method of birth control you choose." read more

Dr. Binford is nothing short of amazing and extraordinary! I have been her patient since I moved to Austin from California more than a decade ago. She has seen me through my single days, marriage, and four babies (my last one just arrived a month ago). First, Dr. Binford is highly qualified and competent. I have two siblings who are physicians, and I therefore can be critical of doctors and their abilities. Dr. Binford meets the highest standards with flying colors. She attended UT Southwestern Medical School, which is one of the best in the country, and she trained at Parkland in Dallas (an outstanding place to train). She is very bright and experienced in her field, and I trust her judgment completely. Perhaps more importantly, Dr. Binford is caring and compassionate. She is the type of doctor who chose this profession and entered this field for all of the right reasons. She wants to help people and care for their needs and deliver beautiful babies. She has a heart of gold, which shines through whether you are there for your annual exam or your first pregnancy appointment or your very last post-partum appointment. I hold her in the highest regard for her bedside manner and ethical and professional character. I recommend Dr. Binford for anyone who is searching for a physician who is both qualified and competent, while equally caring and compassionate. You will not find a better OBGYN. read more

If I could give Dr. Binford more stars I would. This is hands down the best doctor I have ever had. She truly cares about her patients well being. I live over an hour away from this doctor. I have PCOS and was concerned of future fertility issues. Because of this, I researched in my area and Austin. I read mixed reviews, but the good ones gave her such amazing reviews that I decided to check it out. It has been almost two years and I have seen her multiple times for a variety of reasons and she NEVER made me feel like I was waisting her time. People complain about the long wait time. The reason for this is because she actually spends time with her patients. She listens to them and gets to know them. I have waited for hours without any mind when she was delivering a baby. Because she is that amazing. I came for an annual check up and was told I showed signs of precancerous cells on my cervix. She did a biopsy which confirmed this. I was scared to death and when I went in for my procedure she held my hand until I fell asleep from the anesthesia. When it was over she went and spoke to my family and took the time to explain this simple procedure to them. As if that wasn't enough, I wasn't able to get into my regular doctor for issues I felt like I was having with depression so I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Binford. I explained my symptoms and apologized if I was out of line going to an OBGYN for this type of problem. She assured me that she could help, and she did. We spent months going over my symptoms and trying different things. She treated me with respect every step of the way. She even called me after hours when she remembered another remedy for me to try. Dr. Binford is the most dedicated doctor I have ever met. She cares about your health and your personal well being. For those who gave negative reviews, I believe that Dr. Binford is not one to just give you a quick solution and be done with it. She wants to know that you are as interested in your health as she is. If you do your part and take her advice she will work with you no matter what. I have been through several gynecologists, and never met one like her. I would (and do!) recommend her as often as possible. read more

I went to see Dr. Binford to have my copper IUD changed, it was due to expire. First, she was very pushy about not inserting a copper IUD, saying she regularly removes them, even though I'd had one for years already without issue. She was convinced that all this time I've actually had a hormonal IUD, because my periods were getting lighter and according to her that's inconsistent with copper IUD's, and because I'd had it put in abroad (it's called a Multiload)--which to me, was a little xenophobic to suggest that the clinic I'd gone to didn't know what they were putting inside of me... However, with limited time and insurance options, I decided to continue with booking the appt. to have it changed--she said she would "decide" which one (hormonal or copper) to put in after looking at my old one. We made the appt. for a month out, after my IUD was set to expire. I asked if I should use a back-up method in the meantime, and she said that was not necessary. To be fair, I got a second opinion who agreed I probably didn't need a back-up, most IUD's last longer than they say. Unfortunately, I still got pregnant, and this is where Dr. Binford's treatment became unacceptable. First, she freaked me out saying it was likely I'd miscarry. A second opinion (my friend, an out of state OBGYN) assured me that while IUD's can increase the chances of miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy, it's small. I knew already I would not go through with the pregnancy, so the next step was to find out if it was indeed ectopic or viable. I did appreciate that Dr. Binford's office got me in first thing in the morning for the ultrasound. However, after confirming the pregnancy was not ectopic, when I told Dr. Binford that I planned to just have the IUD changed at the same time as I received the planned abortion at another clinic (to minimize the number of invasive procedures that I was already undergoing), she became aggressive in attempting to coerce me into having the IUD removed. She seemed offended that I'd sought a second opinion, and she was talking to me like I was a misguided moron who should't have the first say in choices regarding my own body. At one point I had to actually tell her she was being patronising, and that my friend had agreed to let me call her on speaker phone during the appointment if there were any questions. Dr. Binford finally dismissed removing the IUD, however, then she began to try to tell me I probably had pcos! Her only reasoning was that it would explain my periods getting lighter over time, which according to her was inconsistent with having a copper IUD. At this point I was incredulous as to why we were even still discussing whether I had a copper IUD or not, and moreover--I found it negligent that she thought it appropriate to unecessarily add onto my emtional distress during a vulnerable moment in my life as I was facing a difficult decision that I had responsibly done everything to avoid. Even if it were true that I had pcos (I don't), it was not the time or place to pursue that diagnosis. In the end, I had to go to a well women's clinic that can provide an abortion, and not only were the staff kind, reassuring and efficient--they also didn't even bat an eye at my Multiload copper IUD. The doctor was familiar with it! This story gets a little weirder when I found out last week that not one but two of my friends have had negative experiences and discontinued seeing Dr. Binford too! That's when I knew I had to write this review, something I don't usually do. I am trying to be fair here, Dr. Binford was prompt about getting me in her office, and she was physically gentle during the procedures--however, her bedside manner is poor and there clearly seems to be a pattern through these reviews--if you are a young woman seeking advice on birth control, she seems to belittle your role in the decision-making with regards to your own body. She never even asked me why I was so adamantly against having hormonal birth control, she just pushed her reasoning onto me. She also misdiagnosed one of my friends with herpes. She's just rude, and while I know it can be frustrating as a doctor (my sister is an MD, I get it) when you feel like your patients have some half-formed ideas about medicine or care via the internet (like WebMD), to entirely dismiss, to belittle, and to push your opinions onto a woman--especially at the moment they're most vulnerable, is unacceptable. Dr. Binford has zero bedside manner and the other negative reviews are here for a reason. My regular ob/gyn was on vacation and Dr. Binford was covering. I've been a patient of the other (awesome and caring) doctor for several years and unfortunately I have experienced numerous bacterial infections. I am very familiar with the symptoms and the usual drill after having been seen in the office for this repeatedly over the years is to call their office, they call in an antibiotic prescription and a week after taking meds I am back to normal until the next flare up. Easy peasy. Not so easy this time. I had a flare up over the weekend and called the service at 10am and was told Dr. Binford would be paged. I gave making this call a great deal of thought as I don't usually have a doctor paged but I was in pain and hoping for some help. Fast forward to 4pm, no call back. I understand the doctor is probably busy and things like labor and delivery take priority so figured it must be a busy day. That said, I was in pain and hoping for some relief by being able to pick up a prescription before my pharmacy closes in a few hours. I call again. About an hour later Dr. Binford calls back and I explain the above. She is clearly annoyed and spends the next 5 minutes chastising me for daring to call the weekend phone number with such a "trivial" issue; she informs me "...appropriate reasons would be labor or severe bleeding, like as if I was about to die." Wow. I could continue, but basically this scolding by her went on for 5 minutes. She ended with she was not going to waste her time calling in a prescription and I could go to urgent care if I really wanted one. Wow again. I have an idea, Dr. Binford, how about next time you scold the patient who is in pain with a "trivial" issue for 3 minutes instead of 5 and spend the next 2 minutes calling in a prescription. This practice caters to rich white pregnant ladies. If you are not all of those things, be prepared to be treated as a second-class citizen. This practice was my primary care physician and all of the doctors I saw over the course of a few years showed little respect for my time or well-being. Even though they are a few blocks from my apartment, I FINALLY had to drop them. Just awful. I'm not sure why she's listed as a GYN when she has no interest in women's health issues that aren't pregnancy related. She should just be an OB to save future patients a lot of trouble. read more

Dr. Binford is a smart, efficient doctor who has been my doctor for close to 20 years and delivered one of my babies. My first baby came over a weekend when another doctor from her group was on call and she was just as professional. Overall, I really like Dr. Binford because she is straight forward and "real". I believe others who have given their reviews here and including a friend of mine who said Dr. Bindford "wasn't for her" are sensitive types that need more hand holding. Needless to say, I'm not that kind of gal so Dr. Binford and I get along great! When looking for a OB/GYN you need to look for a good personality fit as much as anything. However, if you want an excellent doctor that doesn't "beat around the bush" and is honest, reasonable, trustworthy and professional, she's the one for you! Note: If she is delivering a baby, you may have to wait so don't over-schedule yourself after her appointment. I recommend being patient and simply bring your laptop or a book to read so you can get things done while waiting. Keep in mind that once that tiny human arrives, Dr. Binford will be available for your appointment. read more

In 2016 I gave birth to a baby and after he was born, he was found to have a rare heart issue and then passed away. Dr. Binford was very distraught and was brought to tears. She is compassionate and sweet and very competent. Because it is such a rare disease, it is understandable that it went undetected until he was born. I love how Dr. Binford reviewed what she could have done by going over the steps she took (I'm telling you - nothing. It is not detectable unless you're specifically looking for it and no one knew to do that). This shows me that she has personal accountability. I especially love how she was deeply moved. She truly, truly cares. Then last year, she delivered my next son who is still healthy and thriving. She referred me to a wonderful neonatal specialist who found him to have a healthy heart. Dr. Binford is careful and attentive and most importantly, compassionate. read more

Full disclosure: I did not actually see this doctor. After the unprofessional, cold, curt, and rude response I received on the phone by two of her staff, I decided this was certainly not the place for me. I should have looked up the reviews here before wasting my time. I called to make an appointment as a new patient after being referred by my doctor, who was also a patient of hers. I left a voicemail to make an appointment (strike 1: hard to get a real person on the phone). I got a return call shortly after I left my message. I was put on hold several times while she took my basic information. Then another woman picked up the phone while I was on hold. No one told me I was being transferred. This second woman just said, "hello?" So I started my story over again. Gave more info to this new person. This person was not friendly at all. She then abruptly transferred me again to another leave another voicemail for a nurse. At which point I just hung up. I called another doctor (Dr. Winn), where a real human answered who was very nice. I quickly and easily made my appointment there instead. read more

Dr. Binford delivered my wife's and my first baby. We could not have had a better experience. She was extremely knowledgeable and helpful during the pregnancy. What others might be interpreting as poor bedside manner is just an impressive doctor at the top of her game who is too busy helping patients to act as their best buddy. That said, we found her demeanor great. She was pleasant, helpful and incredibly focused on making sure we deliver a healthy child. Watching Dr. Binford during the delivery was like sitting next a master at work. She confidently dealt with potential issues during the birth such that it went seamlessly and our baby was born with a 9 APGAR score. And if this review isn't enough, all of the nurses at our hospital complemented our choice of her and told us that she was their choice when they delivered. Keep in mind that our hospital had 22 doctors to choose from. Lastly, she was recommended to us by a couple who are both doctors. read more

Do not go here Simply put: They suck!! I came here for an annual exam, it was my first visit with Susan Albert, NP. I had some questions regarding some symptoms I had and she completely wrote me off and was showed no respect or empathy, tried to make me feel inferior and moronic for simply showing concern for my health and questioning what I am dealing with. She said it was nothing, but to oblige me, she offered to take a test and said I would receive a call with the results after the results I would come in to take another test. They called me and I was at work which prohibits me from using the phone. So I called back later (several times) and every time I got a different excuse, whether it was that the nurses were too busy or gone or they would tell me to call back during such and such time and I wouldn't be able to get through. Countless times I called and upon the first ring it would go straight to voicemail, even during regular business hours, and I would leave a message, assuming they were busy, other times it would just ring and ring. It became so frustrating! If I can get ahold of someone in order to book an appointment or give them my insurance information, I should be able to get ahold of someone that can tell me what the results were. I wrote an email stating my frustration, they offered to give me their emergency line and said not to give it to anyone else. I never called that line, that's not what I wanted. Clearly my results are not an emergency, I just want you to be professional and respectful and attentive to your patients and answer THE FREAKING PHONE and you are in the healthcare field, show that you actually give a damn. We selected Dr Binford after careful consideration for our first baby. Her office is clean, runs on time, and her staff is amazing. Lori is super knowledgeable and showed us sensitivity and concern. We felt safe and confident. Having a baby is stressful enough - thank goodness for such great practitioners. We weren't the happiest with Seton (where they deliver), but it was still a good experience. Dr. Binford took her time with us and answered all our questions with patience. by far the best gynecologist visit I have ever had. The lobby was calming, relaxing, and entertaining with a beautiful view and plenty of magazines. The paperwork was concise and painless and they called me to the back in less than fifteen minutes. The nurse practitioner was extremely kind, understanding, and not confused (the best!). I was seen by Lori within fifteen minutes and she spoke with me about my concerns with birth control and we decided on be-yaz for my preferences. She made sure to conduct the practice in such a way that would adhere to my insurance limitations but really made me feel so comfortable. She was passionate about the affordable health care act and insisted that if I don't get free birthcontrol or name brand for $15 or less, that I call her and she would handle it. She gave me the prescription for a full year (my past obgyns would require me to come in every 3months!) Overall this visit was extremely painless and actually enjoyable!! I will be making this office my regular and can't wait to pass along the good news to all my girlfriends. read more

I can't recommend Dr Binford highly enough! I began seeing her as my gyn and was thankful to get in at the time. She was my ob through both of my pregnancies and both times I felt utterly confident in both her prenatal guidance and knowledgeable care. My second child had a serious congenital birth defect that was detected at my 18 week sono and I'll never forget how loving and nurturing Dr Binford and her staff were that day and in all of the appointments that followed. He was also a 9lb, 15oz baby and I hemorrhaged during delivery but Dr Binford was so skilled at both addressing the situation and remaining completely calm herself that I didn't even realize I had hemorrhaged until my 6 week postpartum check-up. I live about 40 minutes from Dr Binford's office and don't plan to have any more children (my youngest is eight) but I will never switch care. I look forward to the one time a year I get to see Dr Binford now and I feel very fortunate to have her as my ob/gyn. read more

I truly can't understand the negative reviews. Yes. Sometimes you do have to wait for awhile if you are going to see Dr. Binford, but this happens when you go to an OB who is delivering babies. Sometimes there are emergencies. However, Dr. Binford is competent, experienced and compassionate. I gave birth to 3 babies under her care. The first, she was going to be on vacation. She lined me up with a delivery date (I was going to be past due) an OB and arranged for me to meet he OB before hand so I wouldn't be so nervous. The second, I lost the baby a little over halfway through the pregnancy. When the perinatal specialist found the fatal issue and called her office, Dr. Binford began calling me to try and speak with me. I had my phone turned off. She was called several times and when I called her back, she dropped everything to speak with me. She was so compassionate through the entire process. The third, she delivered and I thought she was wonderful through the delivery. Her nurse practitioner Lori Dobbins is FANTASTIC. She is compassionate, knowledgeable and never seems to be in a hurry. I highly recommend this practice. read more

wow, do not waste your time with this woman, i do not know how she even made it through medical school! Her nurse and the staff are truly unhelpful and the large woman with the short short grey hair at the front desk needs a new job because dealing with people is not up her alley. What concerned me most was Nancy (dare not say doctor, because she shouldn't be one!) is her lack of knowledge and inability to listen to a patient. I was very offended when i came in an hour early to an appointment, used the bathroom and overheard her say "its women like (my name) who make me question why these people even want to procreate." WOW! i had admitted to her that I was going through a bit of depression during my first trimester, probably due to changing hormones....Instead of explaining to me that it was PERFECTLY NORMAL to be experiencing depression and helping me through it, she sent me a certified letter saying I needed psychiatric help and she was no longer able to be my doctor! well, after i overheard her comments while coming out of the bathroom, i had already started researching other doctors in the area! But to get the letter was just ridiculous! Im happily at the end of my 6th month, feeling great, and very excited about becoming a new mommy! i am soooooo happy i changed doctors and as for Binford!
