I've used Bimmer Tech a few times for a variety of services, including oil changes. However, my 1982 e28 overheated due to a faulty fan clutch and a poorly working thermostat. Max came out, diagnosed the issue, and identified other issues with prior work that had been incorrectly repaired. He is by far the most knowledgeable mechanic who has worked on my car over the years, and has incredible attention to detail. After a few poor cylinder heads, we finally got one in good condition, and Max came out to install it. He started at 10:30am and finished close to 11pm. Excellent BMW Specialist - Mobile Service in LA I had Bimmer Tech work on my 2018 BMW X5 xDrive35i, and I'm extremely happy with the results. They replaced the front tension struts and wishbones with Meyle HD parts (heavy-duty on the tension struts), and the annoying clunking noise that started after a previous alignment is completely gone. The car feels firm, quiet, and drives like new again. They also did the oil change and brake fluid flush on the same day, with great communication throughout. The technician showed me the damaged old bushings in person (clear fluid leak and cracks), which helped me understand the issue perfectly. Initially I needed my 2005 e85 starter and windshield spray fixed but didn't know where to start so I decided to yelp and found these guys with honest reviews and good feedback. I used this business multiple times and had great experiences. Today I asked for a quote for several maintenance items and the quote was insane! More than the dealership! Who's ever had an independent shop quote higher than a dealership? $225 labor to replace my headlamps? That doesn't include parts. You can access my headlamps thru the cut out door in my wheel well. $200+ for an oil change? BMW Beverly Hills wants $120. The owner Alex used to be the main person talking to clients but now it's outsourced to some dude. I've experienced a first here, a mechanic who charges more than a dealership. BIMMERTECH has handled all service/maintenance/repairs on my 1990 BMW 325is for 6+ years. I have owned the car for 15 years and am so glad I found them! I trust them implicitly and they have earned that trust over the years by being very skilled, knowledgeable, respectful (always on time, or early, FAST responses/texts/return phone calls, and are honest to a faulty and show a level of integrity that is nearly impossible to find elsewhere, and totally non-existent at BMW dealerships. They are the only people I even call at this point. Its nice to actually be able to trust the process, get clear straight answers to questions, and have multiple options presented along with the pros/cons etc. instead of the usual cash grab and hard sell. MAX has been my technician both times and he's amazing. STAN manages the operation -- response time is FAST, detailed estimates via email, scheduling is a breeze, and he stays in touch the entire time. He's also very flexible, which makes a huge difference, and very communicative so I never had to chase him down or beg for info. This time around I had a bit of an emergency because the long-term storage facility delivered it to me on a flat-bed... without disclosing the muffler situation. The car was un-driveable, and parking tickets were issued daily because the muffler was completely on the ground. Stan responded within 10 minutes of viewing my photos and sent a detailed estimate AND let me know MAX was avail in 3 days. AND he stopped by same day and used zip ties to get the muffler off the street so car could be moved to garage. INCREDIBLE. Max also explained that after seeing it in-person and installing temporary zip-ties, he realized it needed less work & fewer parts than my initial estimate. Stan was already drafting a modified estimate with a lower total price. This is a rare level of honesty and trustworthiness and its really nice to be able to trust the process. The car needed a laundry list of general maintenance after being in storage so long, so I texted with Stan and had a second estimate by EOD. I ended up booking a full day, and it was absolutely worth it. Max got through the entire list of repairs and maintenance items in one day, no muss no fuss. He left the car running beautifully and my garage and driveway were spotless, like he was never there. This is why I keep coming back. I am extremely impressed with the honesty, skill, and value provided by Andrew at BIMMER TECH. As a long-time BMW owner, finding a mechanic you can implicitly trust is the ultimate goal, and this service has earned my business for life. The Problem: I was chasing a persistent and very specific "clunking" sound from the front right side of my 2013 328i, which has just under 100,000 miles. The Misdiagnoses: I took my car to two different, highly-rated independent BMW shops. The first shop replaced the sway bar links for nearly $400, which didn't fix the sound. They then quoted ~$2,100 for a full front suspension overhaul (struts, mounts, etc.). A second, very well-known specialist with a Master Technician also misdiagnosed the sound and quoted $1,700 for the same comprehensive job. I was starting to feel like my car was a money pit and that I was being sold expensive repairs that might not even fix my specific issue. The BIMMER TECH Difference: I called BIMMER TECH for a third opinion. Andrew test-drove the car with me, listened carefully to my description of the noise, and then performed a thorough, hands-on diagnosis. He did a physical check of the suspension and within 15 minutes of jacking up the car and removing the wheel, he found the true cause: a critical anti-rattle spring clip was completely missing from the front right brake caliper. He noted that while my original struts were indeed high-mileage, they were not catastrophically failed and were not the source of the clunking. This honesty was a breath of fresh air. The Result: I scheduled a follow-up for the part to be installed. The total cost for the initial diagnosis and the final repair was $103. The clunking sound is now 100% GONE. The other shops were ready to have me spend thousands of dollars on preventative maintenance that, while perhaps needed eventually, was not the solution to the problem I brought them. Andrew was the only one who did the real diagnostic work to find the simple, true cause. This is the difference between a parts-replacer and a true diagnostician. BT replaced both front and rear brake pads. After the replacement, my brakes started producing horrible noises whenever reversing. When I asked for help, they just told me the new pads would need to go through a "break in" period after which the noise would eventually go away. However, after 1,000 miles, it has gotten worse and the brakes still make screeching noises whenever I reverse. BT will not help me stating, that unfortunately it is a common occurrence for BMW's original and OEM pads. I thought I was getting stellar services at competitive price however I guess you get what you pay for. Never using a third party like this again. Will only get my car serviced at the dealership regardless of the cost... read more
