We LOVE Bill's!! We have been here several times and most recently came here for my son's birthday request! We travel about 45 mins to get to Bill's but what a fun experience! Bill's is very much out in the middle of nowhere land! ;) It's not at all a "fancy" establishment but does what they do VERY well! Bill's has a sweet family feel, with booths and tables scattered about multiple rooms. We ordered multiple steaks, including the XXL porterhouse, ribeye, and filet! Everyone commented on how tasty their steaks were! My filet was perfection! So tender and cooked just how I asked! The sides are basic but delicious! The only thing we didn't care for were the mashed potatoes with gravy. We also had an order of chicken fingers with the brew-city fries, YUM! And a side of the walleye, fried. Also delicious! My ONLY "complaint" and it's not even a complaint, just something I wish was different... they no longer serve bread/rolls! I asked the waitress about this, as we haven't been to Bills in a few years, she said they ended their bread service after the pandemic, to keep costs low. :( Good bread feels like a staple to a steakhouse, but even without it we will most certainly still be back! The drink menu brings great selection! Our cocktail was great as well as a craft beer! We've always had top notch service here! Very kind! Very attentive! We read an article saying this was such a great steakhouse. The article was misleading! Order prime rib was supposed to be medium rare. We got medium well. Husband ordered baked potato with cheese and bacon. They use canned concession stand liquid cheese on their baked potatoes! Not real cheese! The gravy on my mashed potatoes tasted greasy. No beef taste to the gravy. Waited too long for the food to come out so didn't send the prime rib back but definitely not worth our 45-minute drive and 20-minute wait for food. Very disappointing. Has the potential, and I think it might have been great at one time but standards! read more

I haven't been to Bill's in a long time. Was in the area, so decided to take my momma out to dinner here. Our server was terrible. I don't normally complain, but we literally saw her four times; when we ordered, when she brought drinks, when she brought food, when she brought our check. Never checked on us to see if we needed drink refills, never asked how the food was, nothing. She did ask how food was after we were done eating and she brought our check. We saw all the other servers multiple times checking on their tables. Two hours for dinner, for two people, is a bit much. there was a couple that walked in directly in front of us. They were done with their meal and gone before we even got food. Another couple was sat about 15 minutes after us, got their food about 10 minutes before us. Another couple came all of 30 minutes after us, got their food about 10 minutes before us. I splurged on a meal, I NEVER spend $50 for a meal. VERY disappointed that I did. My meal was stone cold. My potatoes weee inedibly cold, filet mignon had great flavor, but was stone cold. Server said be careful of the silver plate as it's hot. I could lay my hand on the silver plate and not feel a thing, not even luke warm. At least my mommas perch were nice and hot! Doubtful I will return here again sadly. read more

I drove by this place several times over the years as the parking lot was always full. I had a friend recommend this place as having the best steaks in Michigan. I sat down and had no wait, despite the parking lot being relatively full. Good mix of people inside including families. I ordered the filet with garlic butter/powder with a salad and potato and beverage. The salad came out relatively quickly. The salad plate was not chilled, and a fork and knife was provided with paper napkin. The steak was a bit slow to come out and the steak was somewhere between medium and medium rare. It was delicious. The potato was normal size without any seasoning on the skin. The butter wasn't, it was country crock with vegetable oil. Sour cream was also provided. All in all it was a very pleasant experience, and I will be back. I do wish they did a few small upgrades. Cloth napkins, homemade Italian salad dressing, and of course actual butter. Those few extra touches would knock my review to a five star. I was slightly bummed the garlic butter/ powder was an upcharge. read more

Came here to meet some friends for lunch who live in this remote area. I have to admit I was skeptical about going to a steakhouse out here. But I was pleasantly surprised, this place has been serving steak for a long time and still are, for good reason. This is not your typical steakhouse you find in Troy, like Ruth's Chris; Morton's, Capital Grill or Eddie V's. This is more like a steakhouse you'd find in Texas. Oklahoma or one of the Dakotas where you get a big steak with all the fixings and sides. We arrived here on a Sunday for early supper, 4:00 pm. It wasn't busy when we got there, but by the time we left there was a wait. I split a porterhouse, recommended by our friends. What a good choice. They had a special too where you can add walleye for not much more, be sure to check the specials board. Also recommended was the blue cheese dressing, it was every bit good like they said. The service was excellent be Dori R, it looks like it all the servers there are good. We found out that one lady in our party went to school with our server's dad. This is a small town. The decor is a little rustic, a little Moderna do a little traditional, just the right mix. They have a large room available for banquets or parties. Probably can't eat here every week, but it is worth a visit, even if it is out of your way. read more

They sold out of the XXL porterhouse so we got the XL version. OMG! It was huge and very tasty. I recommend the garlic butter on it. The gravy on the mashed potatoes is amazing with chunks of meat in it. The crab stuffed mushrooms were really good too. But there is more. Had a bite of carrot cake. Yum! Went on a Saturday night and were seated for 2 immediately. Service was a little bit slow, since it was peak dinner time, but the food didn't take long at all. Food was hot, delicious, and perfectly cooked. We haven't been in several years after hearing complaints that portion sizes had decreased, but given inflation, we were satisfied with the price and portions. The loaded brew fries were phenomenal. I would make a trip back just for those. They had real smoked bacon crumbles and were covered with them. We will make sure to go back sooner this time! read more

Went for an anniversary dinner fine, a seashell, in the calamari, brought it to the waitress/bartender, she took it back to the kitchen she came back and apologized, nobody else did steak was room. Temperature Potato had to be sent back for microwave, 45 seconds would not except senior or military discount or give a discount for the shell being in my calamari. We won't go back, nor will we tell anybody we ain't there. Not such a great place to go for your anniversary. read more

An excellent meal for a large group - quick and friendly service! Highly recommend Drinks and appetizers were timed perfectly and we had enough time to look over the menu, no pressure. The sampler platter left something for everyone but the crab stuffed mushrooms were divine! These guys do steak well! A variety of steaks were ordered - porterhouse, rib eye, New York, filet .. delish and cooked as requested. The loaded fries were a little too much but oh so good. The sirloin burger was incredible. I'm not sure how many ounces it is but definitely over a half pound. Husband had the sirloin and grilled shrimp which he devoured. The sirloin was cooked perfectly. The shrimp was tasty and grilled perfectly. Granddaughter ordered the chicken Alfredo and thoroughly enjoyed every bite. 12 ounce ribeye for me, XL (26 ounces) porterhouse for husband. So we kept hearing about this place and had the opportunity to come check it out. Steaks were TOP NOTCH! My ribeye will have me craving more for days! When my husband's porterhouse made its way to the table my eyes bulged out, it was so huge! Seasoning was perfect, in my opinion. Nothing crazy fancy, which a good steak shouldn't need. Modest setting, good service and relaxed atmosphere. You get two sides with your steak. Just visited today because I'm usually off on Sundays and Mondays which are there days off or because I get free food from my grandmother on Sundays! She is 83 and will always be the best cook...especially when it's free! Today, 5/16/2024 I visited and ordered the Sirloin with fries and forester cheese. When I found out they have asparagus I ordered that too! Though I I did have to pay minimum price for that which I agreed too. This didn't bother my waitress any at all, her name was Meagan. She was very polite and informative. After a short wait my order came and it was to perfection. Service was excellent, recommendations were appreciated and plentiful. The food was mediocre. The descriptions exceeded the quality. Salad greens were basically head lettuce and the dressing drenched it. My pepper steak was gristle and tougher than anything I have ever eaten. After reading the comments on Yelp my impression was so good that we drove 30 miles out of our way to eat here. I would rather eat at a chain restaurant with real napkins, glass glasses and china. What really makes me angry is that I can get prime real prime steak from Costco and prepare it myself and it tastes superior to anything I can get from bills . The waiter went out of his way to explain the menu and I expected a lot. It was nothing as described. I just can't call out a restaurant and send it back but I'm going to have to start doing that because I have encountered just absolute crap and being charged for really bad food. Salty salty salty ribeye steaks. And a bit tough. So salty it was inedible. The mashed potatoes are made from instant potatoes-yuk. The butter they served wasn't butter, it's land-o-lakes butter flavored vegetable spread in a little plastic to-go peel-top container. The gravy was chunky and overly salty. Inedible. The crab lakes were actually good, but served with melted vegetable oil not butter. The poutine was ok but super salty gravy covered it making it inedible. Drinks were great. Don't expect a high end steakhouse at all. Expect dennys quality food with outdated dirty old diner atmosphere complete with stained carpet and squares of insulation cut out and glued to the walls and ceiling as decor. Service was ok if you don't mind not getting plates for your appetizers or drink refills. At least they were friendly. read more

First time dining here. We had about 25min to be seated on a Saturday night around 6pm. Your able to wait in your car, or the outside patio while you enjoy a drink from the bar. The staff were friendly and fast. My husband and I loved our dinner! It really was the best sirloin & prime rib we've ever had! You get more than you pay for. And those add on mushroom & onions, WOW! This was our first visit to Bill's Steakhouse and it was worth the hour drive to get there! We knew that we were in for a good meal when we arrived shortly after 5pm and there were people waiting outside! We were told the wait would be 45 minutes...we went to the bar to order a drink and shortly after we received our drinks our table was ready so clearly our wait time was much shorter than anticipated! The staff were all friendly and treated every request with urgency! Let's start with the appetizers the crab stuffed mushrooms were wonderful but the winner was the spinach dip with pita chips this was clearly made from scratch and outstanding! The steak was wonderful and cooked to order! My husband and I shared the XXL Porterhouse as there is no way I could have eaten that much food and I had heard that their cheesecake was great so I wanted to save room for dessert. The cheesecake was good and homemade. It was not fabulous but it was definitely good! And the price was reasonable! The portions were huge! The restaurant itself inside meaning the decor is outdated but who cares...the people were friendly and were with great friends! We will definitely make this drive again! read more

Where do I begin? I haven't been here in 4 or 5 years. The quality of food and fast and friendly service has taken a nose dive, not to mention the huge increase in pricing! This seems to be reflected in the fact that there was no waiting for a table on a Friday night! A few years ago there was at least a half hour to an hour wait. I realize food costs, overhead etc. have increased considerably but imho this establishment has taken considerable advantage of that, bordering on price gouging. The fried fish combo spent way too much time in the fryer and the onion rings (frozen) were swimming in grease! INEDIBLE!!! The entire staff needs a few "happy meals"! No smiles or friendly greeting from the hostess. Sorry, the exorbitant prices do not match the poor quality food. Sorry but I will not return nor will I recommend this place to anyone. read more

I have eaten at this restaurant many times. Mostly with satisfactory service and food. However, I came in within a party of 18. During covid times at 50% we were fine being split up however it worked for them. The hostesses were rude from the start. They allowed more than 10 people in the lobby until my party walked in then she threatened to shut the whole place down if we didn't go out. Just very rude. We would have spent at least 600$ but no matter to them. I will never waste our time or money on this place again!! read more

Would not recommend Bill's. We have gone a couple of times and have never been impressed but decided to give it one more try. I took my husband there again for his birthday and again was not impressed. On the positive, the restaurant decor seems to have been updated which was greatly needed. Regarding the food, everything was just mediocre. For the price, I expect more. My new york strip steak was extremely undercooked and fatty, and the mashed potatoes and gravy were un-edible. The Caesar salads had so much dressing on them that all 4 of us could not finish them. My brother's new york strip steak was completely fat and gristle. When we brought up his steak, it was completely ignored by the manager. She could see he did not eat it and offered nothing as a remedy. And the service...not once did the wait staff come back to check on us. Not once. We had to raise our hand to a staff member to get someone's attention to fill our drinks. And even then, the reordered drinks were never brought. Never again. read more
