This is quite a big barge and seats about 20 people comfortably, offering a great range of cream teas, sandwiches, breakfasts and drinks. A little quaint, traditional barge tea shop. The cups and saucers are just fabulous and the coffee mugs are varied - all adding to the variety and experience of this wonderful place. The tea is served in leaf form so you have your own strainer, which is really cool! I opted for a full breakfast today which was just right! Unfortunately they had ran out of bacon but I got an extra sausage for that! Locally sourced food which was cooked perfectly from the kitchen you can see at the end of the barge. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, offering their advice and explaining the food options as well. The service was excellent and relaxed. The most important part of finishing the meal is the separation of the bill, especially in a group. However they offered to spilt this and each of us pay separately, this worked great! Overall, this is place is highly recommended for anytime of the day, relaxing on the Thames, in wonderful surroundings, watching the swans swim by.

I selected the Small Farmhouse breakfast which consisted of sausage, bacon, egg, hash brown, mushrooms, baked beans and a slice of toast with butter and jam. My husband selected the Farmhouse breakfast which had the same ingredients but twice as much. Of special note are the sausages which were very meaty and that the breakfast was cooked to perfection with none of the grease that can often be present. They also serve a full range of hot drinks so I was able to select a decaf latte. The menu includes some sandwich-type options and there were a few scones etc. for those who don't have our appetites. Service was fast for us. We arrived soon after they opened so only about 4 tables were already filled, so I cannot speak to service speed when they are busy, but they looked to have plenty of staff on duty. I've marked down because of 2 things: the wait for food and the service. The food took nearly 40 minutes, which seems an awful long time for 3 simple breakfasts! The service was friendly but very non-attentive - we had to call the waitress over whenever we wanted anything, including to order our food and drinks. There also wasn't enough cutlery on the table when the food arrived and we had to ask for it twice, which was a pain given the already long wait on the food. A really lovely setting and good ideas with the food and drink, but there seem to be a few teething problems which need ironing out.

Sandwich: We got an Italian panini with prosciutto, mozzarella, lettuce, pesto, avocado on a ciabatta roll. The roll was toasted (nice) but the cheese not really melted, which would have been nicer. Still, a very tasty and healthy sandwich. Finally, our 6-year old ordered pancakes with blueberries from the kids menu and was very happy dipping into maple syrup and coloring his menu. Our family tends to make lots of special orders ("avocado on the side, dressing on the side, pesto on the side,....") as we like to share and have different tastes. Our waitress got them all correct the first time and didn't make us feel badly at all. What a great place to have Breakfast. Been frequenting the Boot for many years on my travels and…read morenot only is this a fantastic example of a well kept, well run traditional English Pub, but they have a great secret which has really kept my Dad going through covid lock downs and at a dark medical time for him. At the start of the pandemic and the lock down when everything was fear and unknown, my dad had the return of a lot of heart issues. During lockdown he had severval heart surgeries in London, although he lives isolated close by The Boot after having a defibrillator installed which then gave him an automatic 6 month driving ban, he was destraught. He literally lives isolated on a long country road of about 5 houses. He checked into meals on wheels for his area and found that The Boot gets to work early in the day and supplies all the great meals for volunteers to deliver. So not only did my get well fed for months but with great food. So doubly thank you The Boot, that'll always keep you as a special favourite of mine when I am visiting.

I've been happy to wait, but this is excessive. But our hosts felt the food was worth the wait. In the end it was about 60 mins.
