Been here like 3-4 times. First few times my lawn mower issues were a quick and inexpensive fix. New filter and a new spark plug. The last time however was more expensive. I've had my lawn mower for over 6 years, so I guess it was due for some TLC. There is a $20 deposit/inspection fee that can be applied towards the work if you have them fix the issue. I was quotes $140 to fix several issues with it. Then when it was ready they told me that the front wheels were not turning as they should be and they recommended replacing them. They didn't have any used wheels so they had to order new ones. Each wheel was $20. So the grand total was $170. Still cheaper than buying a new equivalent lawn mower. read more

Doesn't even warrant one star! Took generator that was under warranty from Costco there and tech said I left the gas on and that wasn't covered. (This wasn't true) I called the Champion warranty dept and they called Bills mower and he refused to warrant the claim. Champion rep told me to take it back to Costco for a new one. Wow! I recommend Champion generators but NOT BILLS MOWER! Mgr says they don't warrant champion generators? When I spoke to champion they said they had issues with this company before and were probably going to stop using them as a warranty repair. Avoid this place! They deserve 0 stars! Dropped off a Champion generator for repair and three weeks later I called back, since they didn't ever call me, to find out they didn't believe it was worth repairing because the carburetor was too difficult to "get to" inside the generator. The carburetor on this model is located on the side and you only have to remove a plastic cover w/ two screws to see it. They are lazy, incompetent and just didn't want to fix it because they wouldn't have made much for the repair vs the time. They then charged me $20 for a diagnostic fee! Please avoid this business or you will end up regretting it! See what I mean! With a response like that from Craig, why would you want to do any business with such unprofessional people? read more

My husband has been using these guys for years for jobs he couldn't master on his own, but today was my first time on the shop. Our yard trimmer broke and my husband isn't able to fix it this time around due to an injury, so I ran it over to have it looked at anticipating I would have to drop it off and pick it up in a few days. I didn't catch his name but one of the guys checked it out on the counter and immediately took it back for what was a quick fix but would have been what seemed impossible for me to repair on my own with a recovering hubby. Brought my YardMachine B&S mower for warranty as directed by MTD, Craig told me that if it wasn't purchased in-house they won't do the repair. Called MTD to update them and get another location. Apparently this place has a service agreement for all mowers and they are ignoring it. Craig spoke to the rep that I am working with and told him point-blank he won't do the repair. Don't bring your mower here for anything. If they don't want your business, then why waste anyone's time? Edit after Craig's reply: A warranty repair should free for customers as the product failed unexpectedly. Why would customers want to pay after being told they're granted a free repair? MTD told me that you would actually make profit from honoring repairs, but that's your business and not my place to advise on how to conduct business. Nor do I care to discuss it. However it results for the warranty claim process is not the customers responsibility. read more

I dropped my tiller of in February for basic maintenance. It's June and I get a call that they don't make my part and they can't fix my tiller. During this entire time I had to call to get updates which I was always told parts were on order and they were waiting for it to come in. I go into shop and it's completely dissembled and they are charging me 20 dollars. They wouldn't even put it back together. I decided to scrap it due to the age and parts not being available for it and instead of taking care of me for the inconvenience of not having my equipment that I needed for a job they charged me for that as well. On 8/4/2020 I called Bill's right before closing. The phone was answered in a very unprofessional manner. I was still with in the window of time, so I drove from Modesto to Manteca anyway. The unprofessional phone manner should have been my red flag. I saw a mower advertised and was still very interested. Upon arrival I walk in and even though there is 3 people behind the counter, nobody greets me. They are busy teasing and flirting with each other to care. I walk around for a few and still nobody comes to assist me. I can see the three people still flirting with each other and I start to feel uncomfortable. I decided to leave. I experienced good customer service. Was very knowledgeable on my mower as soon as I walked in. I hadn't gotten the mower serviced since buying 8 years ago. The repair was around $170 and it runs as good as new now. I am inexperienced to know if $170 was a good deal or not, but I now have a working mower, cheaper then buying a new one, and was told my mower has a great engine and will last many more years. read more

Bills has a great selection of power equipment, parts and does repair. I did see mainly Stilh, Honda and Echo products; however I wasn't there for more than fifteen minutes. When I arrived the people at Bills quickly retrieved all the goodies on my list. Look can be deceiving Their shop is clean, organized and a friendly staff. I brought my Kohler engine in for repairs: A bent push rod and replace the stator. 1. Lifters and stator replaced however the internal wiring was damaged by them which they repaired. 2. Brought the engine home and found no compression on repaired lifter side took the engine back to have the cylinder replaced and was assured the other cylinders were in specs and it wasn't 156pis new cylinder 60 psi existing side. The new stator wasn't charging and was told the mower wiring harness had to be replaced. 3. Took it to a more knowledgeable shop found the root cause was my failed fuel pump was leaking gas into crankcase replaced and compression now 156 and 130 psi and stator problem was no ground wire hooked now charging at 14.7v. IN MY OPINION THEY CAN NOT DIGIANOSE/REPAIR PROBLEMS WHICH WILL COST YOU EXCESSIVE DOWN TIME AND MONEY. IT WAS IMPLIED TO ME NOT TO RETURN. read more

I have taken several things, lawn mower and my leaf blower, to be fixed. This place is better than the place that fixes bicycles and lawnmowers. I went to Bill's a week ago to see if they had an attachment to update my weedeater to a pole-saw... and I was reminded why I keep coming back to them time and again. With a 3-acre ranch, I've got lots of small-motor equipment. Initially, I found Bill's when I needed my riding lawnmower repaired. For that, they gave me a fair deal and fixed it well. Since then, I've bought a Stihl chainsaw and a Stihl weedeater from them. The quality of the products has been outstanding, and every time I've brought them in to get accessories or service, I have always been pleased with their up-frontness and honesty. Prices are always a bit higher than I like, but I've found that the quality of the Stihl products is so much higher than home-depot level equipment, and the support, service, and repair that Bills offers, makes it worth it even for somebody cheap like me. As for upgrading my weedeater to a pole saw, I hadn't planned ahead... so I had about 2 hours to get a pole saw and cut my trees to make way for a truck coming onto my property. And, to make matters worse, it turns out the model of weedeater I bought didn't support the pole-saw attachment. But I was extremely impressed with the salesperson, who tried to help me think through all my options... from retrofitting my weedeater to allow it to mate with the pole saw attachment, to looking at alternatives. He listened to my concerns, gave me options, and told me what each option would cost. I felt like he was really there to help me solve my problem, and not trying to push any particular solution on me. Ultimately, I bought a new pole saw... and he assembled it and got it running for me before I left the shop. I was able to make it home and trim my trees before my deadline. And, he even did a quick fix for my Stihl chainsaw while I was there! Anyway, I very much appreciate their straightforward way of doing business... and expect to be buying and repairing my small equipment there for years to come. read more

Do not take your items that need to be fixed here. Their "goal" of "fast turn around" is a joke. My machines have been in their hands for over 2 weeks and not even a call to let me know what's going on. I call and I'm told I have to wait for other machines to be fixed. They could have said that when I went in!! And on top of that they are rude!! Nice when they want you to leave your machine but rude when it's taking them forever. What a way to run a business. The team at Bill's is awesome! They were the warranty center for a crappy cordless mower I bought at Home Depot and made every effort to make sure I did not have to make another 1 hour trip to service the battery. Kudos to Laura, Ines, and Craig who took care of me while also tackling the bureaucracy of Homelite warranty service. They have a good selection of landscape equipment at reasonable prices and gave me a reasonable quote to service my chainsaw. If I lived in Manteca, I would definitely use this shop for my power equipment needs. read more

Took it back and the guy working there said they forgot to put a bolt back in. Told me it would be one day and that was two weeks ago. Called today and they said they have not looked at it. They are the best. They went beyond when I came in to get a gasket for my Toro lawn mower. I didn't know what engine was in it but had a home made gasket. They went through the book looking for it an couldn't find a match so they took the home made an matched it up with one that worked. Didn't stop there they only charged 50 cents a gasket. I had went to another mower place earlier they wouldn't even look for it because I didn't know what the engine was an they gave a quote of about 2 dollars. read more

This is a saw shop that doesn't sharpen hand saws, and no one there seems to know anything about such saws. They were not willing to recommend another shop that might perform the service. I took a generator there in October, I had purchased it used and it didn't run very well, so I hoped they could check it out. After looking at it, they told me it needed a new carburetor and gas cap, it would take 2-3 weeks to order parts and get it done, FAIR ENOUGH! So I was told it was ready twice so I planed my day accordingly to swing by and pick it up, both times it was not, after about 5 weeks it was ready, again not great but ok it is ready right so that's all that mattered to me. So now after three days of sitting in my garage I noticed gasoline everywhere, it was leaking out of the generator, so I took it back...... now the story begins! I took it back, the guy when I walked in the employee asked,"whys that back here"' referring to the generator, I told him it was leaking and after looking at it he said it needed a new carburetor, also saying these cheap Chinese parts always do this. I told him I just bought this and you guys put it in, so you are telling me you order cheap parts? So he took the generator and said he would order the parts today. This was November 13th, I called the 24th to check status, they said the parts should be in the first week of December.... I called December 4th, they told me they would call me back, no call back. I would follow up the next week and reach a very rude man, he told me " hey your generator type is not something we really work on, so we are doing our best, we may not get a replacement. I said that isn't my issue, you took my money,no one said you couldn't work on it, so it needs to be fixed or I want my original money back. I asked for a manager and he told me he is gone and won't be back for awhile, we left it he would call me back..... again no call! After two more calls, on December 19, I was told they found the part and ordered it, keep in mind it was supposed to be ordered Nov 13th. So I was told it was ready Dec 21, I picked it up on the 22nd, then I was handed a bill! It was for about $39.00, I said what is this for? I was told it is what the parts cost them, crazy I would need to pay for parts they replaced, charged me for, broke without me using and all this hassle! I didn't care, I paid because I just didn't want to frankly see or deal with them anymore more. To sum it up, poor customer service, in no rush whatsoever ever. Be careful if you are expecting them to back their work, your in for a fight! If I have another issue I will gladly pay someone else.... A total nightmare! FYI my generator was a generac, not some off brand junk generator! Hope this helps! read more

Don't even go there! Dropped off my weed eater on a Wednesday morning, paid the $20 bucks and got no response. I was told a mechanic would contact me in a couple of day. Called on Monday, not looked at yet. Tuesday, was told a mechanic would call me by end of day. No call. Got the manager on the phone instead of the nice lady that works the front counter. What's happened to al the honest small service shops!?! I took 2 trimmers here and upon walking in I was greeted by what appeared to be a 15 year old running the service desk. After 2 Weeks of waiting for an estimate I was lied too and told my trimmers were both irreparable and I needed to loom at buying new trimmers. This was total BS because 1 of the trimmers was running great when I brought it in other than needing a new fuel line. When given my trimmers back 1 was in pieces! I did yell loud enough to get a new fuel line for "free" . Needless to say once I put the trimmer back together with the fuel line kit , it is running excellent! ! Used it for hours with no problems. So much for irreparable! It was clear to me that these kids they have running the service desk have been trained to " up sale " customers into buying new equipment on their shelves. You would be wise to stay away from this business in my opinion. read more
