Bill's Friendly Rides aren't always so friendly. We had a wheelchair bound patient that needed transport from clinic to his home. Due to circumstances beyond my control, the pick-up time from the clinic was delay by a couple of hours. In speaking with the patient about the transport, he was not happy. Driver was very rude and was of little help getting him situated in the van. There was an argument between the driver & the owner of the company that our patient could hear while in the vehicle about the delay. Called to schedule an early morning transport (2:30 am) from Holiday Inn Express at the rock to the Amtrak station in downtown Spokane. The dude that answered the phone (aka motherfucker) laughed while saying none of his drivers will get out of bed at that time in the morning for a ten block fare. Since Bill's Friendly Rides advertise 24/7. That is bullshit. You should say 24/7 service as long as the ride is long enough so the fare and possible tip is worth their drivers time. I do not control the time Amtrak rolls through Spokane to Portland, Oregon (this only happens once a day). I would think if someone needs a ride to the Amtrak Station, Bill's Friendly Rides would be there. Do not use this company! I stayed at a Hotel in Spokane and asked if they shuttle guests to the airport. Was told no but the company they suggest is Bill's Friendly Rides and their fees are cheaper than Uber and Lyft. The hotel told me $35 flat rate. Called the company and was told the exact same price. Got to the airport (all the while he was running the meter) and was told it would be $46. I said I was told by the hotel it was $35 and someone I spoke to, also said $35. When we dropped our car back off at the rental company, they recommended Bill's Friendly Rides to take us back to the airport. We were told it was a flat $35 fee. The ride itself was a bit iffy, as the driver explained to us that he was also the dispatcher for that day. A swerve here, a yellow light there, but we made it to the airport in once piece and on time. If it weren't for the flat fee, we'd probably have gone with another company. Our hotel recommended Bill's when their shuttle service was busy and we had a very nice experience. I misplaced my cell phone in the cab (it had fallen between the seats) and when I called to ask about it, they found it, called me back and delivered it directly to where I was at that time. We were unable to use them the next time we needed a cab as they were on other calls, but were very clear about that. I guess we had an atypical experience based on the other posts. The driver told my mom his meter was broken and a ride from the airport to the south hill is $50 but he'd charge her $45. I called a few days later and asked for an estimate and was quoted $30-35. I told him what happened and he said that was just a quote and backpedaled. Absolutely first-class service. I needed to make arrangements for my elderly father to get from the Spokane airport to his home near SCC the day after Christmas. He was in a wheelchair, and unfamiliar with using his cell phone...and to make matters worse, his flight from Portland was more than two hours late! Bill's kept in touch with me throughout, connected with him at the airport (even though Alaska hadn't updated its flight info), and got him safely home. I agree wholeheartedly with Lynn H.'s review. I too was lucky enough to talk with Robert on the phone and then to have the same gentleman (Robert) as my driver. Truly, I will remember Robert and be grateful to him for the rest of my life. I needed a taxi because I was breaking up with an emotionally abusive boyfriend, so I needed to have my ride there promptly in case the ex-boyfriend snapped and ran after me or got violent. Robert was very understanding, professional, and even compassionate in his handling of this rather delicate situation. He said he had done exactly that kind of pick-up before and he knew to arrive early and wait a few houses down the block for the customer's safety. He arrived about 5-10 minutes early and stayed down the block. Close enough to be accessible and far enough to not cause suspicion with the boyfriend if he saw it early. BETTER than prompt, courteous, and professional! If my situation had been worse (which, thankfully, it was not), Robert and Bill's Friendly Rides could have ended up being a true lifesaver! Now, knowing that it was hoopfest and knowing this concert was popular, I called them 3 hours in advance to see if they would have anyone available. As a college student, I'm always looking for the best deal when I need a cab. I started using Bill's Friendly Rides when I discovered that they had a $20 flat rate for college students getting rides to the airport. I loved that! But after my last ride with them, I don't think I'll be using them again. I had a 6:00 AM flight and my friend had a 6:10 AM flight, so I called the night ahead to schedule a cab to pick us up at 4:20 (this was following finals in December, so I knew that the airport would be busy). My friend and I waited at the specified location for 10 minutes and the cab was still nowhere in sight (this is Spokane in December, mind you; there was snow on the ground and it was well below freezing outside). I called the company to make sure that the cab was still coming, and the guy said yeah, he'd be there in a minute (very similarly to the dialogue experienced by the other reviewer). We waited 5 more minutes and then I got a call from the driver asking if he could pick us up at 4:45 instead of 4:20 -- a full 25 minutes after our scheduled time. It takes 20 minutes to get to the airport from campus and with our flights leaving around 6:00, that was really pushing it. But the only other option we had would be to call another cab company and who knows when they'd be able to pick us up, so we agreed to the later time. The cab FINALLY showed up and he got us to the airport shortly after 5:00, but instead of the advertised $20 flat rate, the driver charged us full fare! But at that point, I was so worried about catching my flight that I just gritted my teeth and paid it. The airport was PACKED and I BARELY caught my flight -- and when I say barely, I mean, thank God they opened up another check-in line because at 5:30 I was still in line to check my bag and I still needed to go through security and make it to my gate. So, to make my long story short: my two big problems with Bill's Friendly Rides are 1) They didn't come at their scheduled time (causing me to nearly miss my flight) and 2) they didn't hold up to their advertised flat-rate for university students. Called and they couldn't find the reservation, but did come and pick me up when I called. I arrived at the airport with just enough time to get through security and get to my gate.
