I would avoid going to this store. Walked in to look at getting an African Grey parrot. When I walked in a small dog came out from behind the counter snarling and barking. The dog was showing its teeth and when I went to move it lunged forward. Instead of the shop owners daughter coming immediately to get the dog instead just called its name even, when the daughter finally did come from behind the counter the dog did not listen. When I went to move the dog lunged forward again. I left the store then called the shop to tell them that was a liability and cost them a sale. Instead of trying to resolve the issue the daughter said "But you didn't get bit" and hung up the phone. If this is how the store owner's dog acts I can only imagine the behavior or treatment of the pets for sale in the store. Store is clean and Covid safe. Cages are clean (as clean as any birdcage can be, that is w actual birds in it lol). Staff is friendly & highly knowledgeable on everything bird. Bill's daughter helped me pick out my new parakeet (and it's worth noting that she did not have to use a net to get him out- he came right to her hand!) This place is a mess and very small but it's a great store! They are not very communicative but they do their job right. I'm no bird expert but I was with my friend that's owned multiple birds for many many years and I asked her if there should be 10-30 birds in a single cage and why there was treats in the food bowl. There shouldn't have been more than 1-2 birds in the tiny cages and some of these exotic birds are to be fed fresh food not add how sick and fearful some looked. Bill and his wife sold my 13 year old son a juvinile Cockatiel a few weeks ago. They lied about the birds age and took advantage of our limited knowledge. We awoke to a dead bird several days after returning home. It was fine before and Bill confirmed all appeared healthy as he examined the dead bird, and claimed the bird must of had a heart attack ...a... thentthen to sell us another bird. He took no responsibility, and told me I need to obtain and pay for an autopsy report proving that there was something wrong with the bird for him to stand by what he sold. He hits birdsnbirds with sticks, keeps the place dirtier than a pig sty ,a kills children's dreams. Huge mistake to go to this store. Lesson learned. The place is absolutely disgusting flies everywhere. The poor birds are living in filth. They look so sad and hungry! They have a bunch of babies in a tubaware and they look in poor health. Sold me a 2 week old umbrella cockatoo. Told me it was healthy and that if something happened to it he would replace it. IT DIED 2 WEEKS LATER. He refused to stand behind what he said. He didn't seem surprised or even bothered that the bird was dead. He got his money from that one and then tried to sell me another $2,000 bird. I walked in the store to see bird feces EVERYWHERE. all over the merchandise. on top of this, they had a small craft cart with three bins next to their desk. there were 10 babies in the top, a dead parrot in the middle, and 10 more babies in the bottom. all climbing over each other trying to escape. the horrible quality hoarder cages that line the walls are full of birds that are very obviously hungry and neglected. the cages were disgusting, and looked like they had not been cleaned in months. i am appalled at this business. shame on you. read more

On December 10, 2021 I purchased a blue and gold macaw as well as a Senegal parrot. I was guaranteed that both birds would be healthy and sound and there would be no issues as far as their health is concerned. As a cautious new owner of any animal, I made an appointment at Broward Avian & Exotic to have a wellness check done on both birds scheduled for December 13 (next available appointment). We did a full CBC and Chlamydia panel as well as X-rays to rule out any illness if one should be present. The findings were chlamydia positive for the blue and gold macaw. I presented this to Bill at Bill's Birds and his response was "the vet was over reacting and the birds are healthy when they were sold." He argued with me when I requested compensation for the chlamydia treatment and said to return the birds if I wanted to and he would exchange it for another bird. After endless back and forth discussion, he said I could pick up the Doxycycline and an anti fungal so I can treat the birds myself. He offered no consideration nor regard for having given me a bird that was less than healthy as he had promised. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS PET STORE. They are known by the local veterinarians to sell ill animals due to the hoarding situation the birds are housed in. read more

The owners were extremely rude and no animal should have to live in those conditions. Do NOT BUY PUPPIES FROM HERE!!!! Terrible conditions and breeders. I bought my sweet loving baby girl from here after being out jogging and running into a sign that said puppies inside. We had been looking for puppies for a while now and when we saw our baby girl in there we instantly fell in love. she passed away at 3 months old. We only had her for 1.5 months. She has hereditary narcolepsy and liver shunts and was never properly treated and with the false medical reports of her being healthy, it was never caught in time until it was too late. Bill and Tammy were so helpful . I was shopping for a bird cage for my macaw and cockatoo which I originally had in seperate cages . I expressed my desire to put them together in one large cage but I was originally afraid to do so since they were my parents birds and they passed away so I personally did not know how to handle the macaw . They went out of their way to find someone to help the birds acclimate to one cage together and even sent Logan who works there to come and help set up the cage at our house with his dad. Absolutely awful. I've not even left the parking lot and I'm writing this review. That's how horrified I am. None of those birds have toys. They're all plucking and have terrible color. I'd have bought the macaw in there except it would have supported that business. And the only reason id buy it is because it has plucked almost all his feathers out. All the birds are on a seed diet. My pet bird (cockatiel) died last week, I went to Bill's Bird Boutique which now I know was a big mistake. I almost fell on my ass when I opened the door, the smell was awful. I looked around and found the cocketeil cages which actually were parakeet cages with 4/6 birds inside. I bought one thinking to myself I can give it a better life. Based upon my experience I have to say the owner is not to be trusted, purchase from a reputable breeder or pet store, Bils Bird Boutique is not one of them. We saw beautiful baby cockatiels and "Bill" said they were only 2 weeks old but after more research 2 week cockatiels had no feathers but the one we got had a bunch. Not only "Bill" lied about the age of the bird 6 days later I waked up and saw my very first bird dead on the ground!!!! I was devastated and so saaaad! Horrible place! Horrible owners. I purchased an African Grey parrot that Bill said someone returned to get a baby grey, instead. I purchased the bird for $2800. I was given food for the bird to eat and BS for me to swallow. I was told that the bird was less than a year old, but no one in the store could come up with her age. I was told to call back. I called 2 or 3 times a week for over a month and finally decided to show up at the store. I was immediately met with hostility from both Bill and Ana and received evasive answers to my same question, "How old is the bird?" The bird is missing all of her tail feathers and most of the black feathers on their wings. It is obvious that this bird has been through some kind of trauma, a little more than someone just wanting a baby grey. Well...Helpful Bill told me he is not a bird psychologist and does not pretend to understand birds......So much for, "they were so knowledgeable and helpful." I will never set foot in this place again and I caution anyone who is a real animal lover to stay away. This place needs to be closed down. read more

This is an absolutely disgusting place that takes in birds and re sells them, and then lies about their age. How this place has anything but 1 star reviews blows my mind. Birds are kept in busted cages made out of chicken wire that are FAR too small. The entire place is covered in dust and there are moths everywhere. I went in here a couple months ago looking for a sun conure and ended up purchasing one that was clearly terrified and in terrible condition but I chose giving this horrible place money as the lesser of two evils as opposed to leaving this poor bird in their care. He was in a cage that was about 8 inches wide by 12 inches deep between an amazon and an African grey who shared his cage walls on either side, and were clearly tormenting him. They would bite at him any time he came near their sides of the cage. His feathers were in terrible condition and his beak beyond overgrown. His lower mandible was so long that he couldn't even close his mouth. Every single one of his tail feathers were bent and broken from the other birds biting them through the cages. I asked if he was tame, and a teenage employee said yes and tried to get him out of his cage for five minutes as he ran and screamed at the top of his lungs to get away. After exhausting the bird and stressing him out, they used a net to scoop him up and then literally dump him into my hands. As soon as I was holding him there was no way I was going to let them put him back into that cage. I saw that he had an open band on his leg, indicating he was most likely wild caught and imported decades ago, and they insisted he was nine months old which is a complete and total lie. No nine month old bird has a band like this and even if he never saw a single thing to chew on, his beak wouldn't be nearly as overgrown as this bird's was. On top of that, sun conures are almost completely green until just about nine months of age, when they SLOWLY start to transition to the adult plumage which is bright yellow. This bird clearly had fully adult plumage and had for a while, considering how damaged his feathers were. I didn't even argue because at that point all I wanted to do was take him away from them. He is doing well and spends almost zero time in a cage now, but it's completely evident that he has been terrorized in the past and is still nervous doing anything. I urge anyone who reads this to not walk into this place. What a nightmare. read more

I first entered this store on the search for a feathered friend. I was greeted with a messy store that was ripe with the scent of birds. Finches flew about, and feathers were in no short supply. My initial reaction was that this was clearly a messy place. However, I knew with animals it could be difficult to keep tidy- especially in such a small space. Many of the birds looked disheveled, but being adult birds likely acquired by breeders, Bill was not to blame. A while later I got my lovebird from him. He was extremely knowledgeable and raring to help. I was provided with everything I needed and then some. Years later my lovebird continues to be in the top condition I got him in as a baby. When I had originally gotten Potato (my lovebird) we borrowed a travel cage from him, promising to pay him back next time we returned. Unfortunately due to Covid we were unable to return. Two years later, we entered the store, thirty dollars in hand a repayment, and Bill seemed nearly brought to tears. He was so kind and had clearly struggled through the Pandemic. While his store is not the cleanest, his birds are clearly loved and well cared for, and Bill is extraordinarily kind and knowledgeable. 10/10 recommend. read more

I wish I had walked out then. The toys and treat/food bag selections were very dusty. I saw one worker changing the birds water. He looked miserable to be working there. When getting further into the store there were two people behind a counter. None of them said a word to me. The further I got in the store the worse it got. The bird cages were just sad. No toys. They all were filthy. All the birds were on a seed diet. It's cheap but not good for birds especially when people are purchasing them for pets. It makes them have behavioral issues. The Macaw had no feathers and the smaller birds were crammed into cages. There were plenty of empty cages to spread out the smaller birds. Most of not all the birds had tons of pin feathers. I drove 260 miles Christmas Day to purchase a Blue Front Parrot they were advertising. It was well worth the trip to deal with professionals like Bill and staff in such a competitive business. They know their business, stock all the bird supplies you could ever want at competitive prices. Birds were their only business, and believe me when I say they are unsurpassed in the business of aviary retail. They have a complete inventory of birds, from song birds to the beautiful macaws. They stayed open beyond normal business hours to accommodate my long commute on Christmas Day to show me the 6 month old blue front I eventually purchased that day. Bill walked my wife and I through all the supplies we would need when we got home, gathering the various supplies up never rushing us or trying to hard sell us on anything in the well equipped store.
