Took my laptop to them because one of the hinges for the screen came loose. They had it repaired quickly, however, when I asked how they fixed it he said they glued it in place because they couldn't get the screws back into place. I had taken this computer to them before and it was ok. This time I took it on a Thurs, and Monday not done...I finally went in on Tues, and it was still running. He got it after a bit for me, charged $200 and it was worse actually when I got it home. I went back to complain and ask for explanation and it was just 'it's on it's last legs and we can't do anything about that'. We had just arrived in Billings and the one time I didn't use a surge protector with my laptop was the one night we had a lightning storm that affected it. I went to Billings Tech and when they opened my computer it was working again! They explained that it had reprogrammed itself without damage but jokenly said it was because I brought it to their "magic store service counter". I recently picked up my computer after 8 months of almost no contact from this company. I was so impressed at first but then every time the front desk told me they would have the tech call me they never did. Not once in those 8 almost 9 months did anyone contact me about what was going on with my computer. What took me as a new computer builder 1 week to put together including the water cooling feature took this company about 8 months. I had to call weekly to find out that they "were working hard on it." And even told me at one point they were putting decorative lights inside of it and that never showed up when I got the computer back. But when I picked it up they had cleaned it pretty well I will say, changed a couple of tubes for coolant and upgraded the radiator. They also locked me out of being able to save except through a "owner file." Changed a few parts and called it good. I had asked for a cleaning, new parts to make it run cool at almost any temp outside of the case within reason, any upgrade to parts needed, to make sure that it everything ran correctly and to add Bluetooth capabilities. It also came back with the radiator fluid only half full so now my computer is overheating every time I try just about any game. This came with a limit of $2500 at the most. They stayed below $2000, but did very little that I asked. I recently left a message saying I was ok with the service, but had a few questions and asked if my tech Brandon would contact me back. I have yet to receive that phone call and would not take my computer back in fear of reprisal from the techs for my bad review. This is not a fake review you can ask me anytime to confirm who I am and show pictures of my computer. I would not recommend your computer to this place unless you use a laptop that takes an hour to work on. Sad too such high hopes for this place as they were telling me they would do exactly what I wanted. read more

I had a bad experience here about six months ago. I wasn't going to post anything about it until a friend said they had a similar problem. My old laptop was struggling - the battery wasn't working so it had to stay plugged in all the time, and it would randomly shut down altogether. I really liked it though, so I didn't want to replace it if it wasn't necessary. One day the screen blinked off and never came back. I took it in here (based largely on the good Yelp reviews) and went to pick it up the next day. There was a note saying the screen had gone bad and needed to be replaced - for more than half the original cost of the whole computer. I study AI. Although I'm a software person, I'm not completely ignorant of hardware, and this set off a few red flags. I had described the power issues leading up to the shutdown and none of those were addressed in the diagnostic. I asked about the diagnostic process and no one there could tell me what had actually been done. I started stepping them through a very basic troubleshooting procedure and they still couldn't answer any questions. Did you examine the power source and connections? Dunno. Did you connect the computer to an external monitor to see if it ran then? No, but we can try. Nope still doesn't even boot up. Well, then maybe it's not a problem with the screen, maybe it's a problem with the electrical system LIKE I SAID YESTERDAY. The icing on the cake was the attitude from the girl behind the counter like I was ruining her day by insisting they do their job correctly. She finally called they guy who did the work and asked him (I kid you not) "did you do you do this job right? Okay, that's what I told her" Turns to me, "He says he did it right." Oh, well, if he says so, it must be true. She then told me she'd be charging me extra for having to look at it twice. Now, I'm not one to lose my temper, but I was certainly having to take deep breaths to stay calm. At this point, one of the guys stepped in and offered to look at the connections. 20 minutes and a few snide comments about how dusty the inside of my (5yo sealed-shell) laptop was, he told me the power connection to the motherboard was degraded beyond repair, and replacing it would be more than the laptop was worth. He put the harddrive in a static insulating bag and that was it. So they were capable of doing the job right, they just hadn't bothered. After telling a friend about this absurd experience, he called, and the manager admitted I shouldn't have been charged but made no offer to refund my fee. TLDR: they took one glance at my computer, didn't listen to anything I said about the problem, dashed off a superficial diagnosis without taking 30 seconds to do a confirmation test, and charged me $55 for 10 seconds of "work" - counting on me to be too ignorant to realize I'd been scammed. I was having weird computer issues and dropped my laptop off here in the afternoon. They told me they would have an update by the next morning. Then they called me just a few hours later to tell me it was all fixed and ready to go. They also provided an estimate when I dropped it off and promised to call before doing anything that would change that. Awesome experience. Told me my laptop was dead when it only needed a new battery. I brought my laptop in because it ran fine but was not charging. After explaining my problem the girl at the counter looked and said my charging pin was bent and they don't do soldering so they couldn't fix it and gave no recommendations of anyone that might be able to. (Not that she has to but I feel if you don't provide that service you should know who does) She then noticed my trackpad was bulging and said that was from my battery swelling and if I kept using my laptop this could cause my battery to explode and catch fire so I should just get a new laptop. Then proceeded to start showing me new laptops they sell starting at $800. I went to another store looking for laptops and after talking to the salesman he was shocked they told me my laptop needed to be replaced and said they get a lot of computers in for repair from Billings tech guys so he gave me a business card for Replay Renewed Electronics. I took my laptop in to Replay Renewed Electronigs and at no charge to me they opened it up right in front of me and immediately knew it was the battery. They put it back together and ordered a new battery and in the meantime it works just fine as long as it's plugged in. My total cost from Replay was $70 for the battery, $10 for shipping, and $25 for install for a total of $105. read more

I had just gotten a new iPad and thought I was almost done installing. Turns out there was a lot more to updating and loading my new toy than I thought. I was very appreciate of the fact that Tanner was able to show me what all I was missing and had left to do. Turns out I had to shut down the whole thing, restart it, and start from scratch. I honestly had no idea about half the stuff that I was missing until he took me through everything step by step and answered all my questions.
