Uncle Kurt's is a tiny one room cocktail dive bar in a back alley under a multistorey carpark just across from the old Parramatta Mall not far from the old Roxy. They've gone with a New York theme with heavily graffitied walls, hip hop beats & deli style sandwiches, meats & jaffles. The cocktail list is split into 3 sections of classics, modern & creamy all coming in a shade under $20 a pop created by genuine experienced mixologists. If cocktails aren't your go they also have a mixture of craft beers, a variety of wine & of course straight up spirits. Staff are all friendly, knowledgeable & happy to help.

We got a basket of assorted crisp bread, crackers and multigrain to have with out tasting plates. I would have to say it may not look like much but the tasting plates can get filling so if you are getting mains as well best try not to eat all the bread! Staff were very attentive and helpful when it came to the selections on the menu. Overall, good first time visit. Looking forward to going back to try some of the mains. As others have said, they do seem to cater to smokers, but we were able to find a spot that was pretty much smoke free in the courtyard. It was quite busy as we arrive about 5:30 and there were a lot of locals that appeared to have just gotten off work and were enjoying drinks. It is near/in the CBD close to the train station. They have copper beer tanks which are supposed to be filled with fresh Carlton Draught beer directly from the brewery. I tried it, and it didn't seem to maker the beer any better. Maybe it does taste different, but I could not tell. They did have a good beer selection overall. What seems to be somewhat typical in the area, we ordered at the bar, and were give a buzzer to let us know when our food was ready. We then went and picked it up from the counter along with utensils. We had the Crispy Skin Pork Belly and the Crab ravioli Both were very tasty and exceeded our expectations. The only reason They get 4 instead of 5 stars is the smoking and that we didn't really finds a designated non-smoking area. I'd go there again.

Mind you, the outdoor area is actually quite nice, being on the roof of the shopping centre and all, however once you go inside you pretty much it the 'same old dodgy pub' experience. Even if you live in the area, there are much better places in nearby Parramatta to visit that spend any amount of time here (unless you like the rooftop deck).

They also serve pub food (burgers, fries, and the like) as well as dinner, and past 5pm, the place is always full of tired, happy people just looking to unwind after work. On the weekends, it's a slightly dressier crowd, with people coming here for dinner under the stars, and I always enjoy my time spend here.
