The waitress went to confirm with the cooks and charged us the price of the nachos. When the food came out, they actually had the chili and cheese in a separate bowl and the fries on a plate. I thought it was a bit weird, but I poured the chili over it and it looked pretty damn good. It tasted damn good too. My friends were pleasantly surprised and we scarfed the fries down pretty quick. The buffalo wings were also really good and had a nice spicy kick. Another plus about this place is they have a Stacker machine, which is the most addicting game in the world. Overall a very cool pub, slightly pricey for pub food but any place that has or is willing to serve chili cheese fries is alright by me.

I can't say enough about the great job they do. You have the most amazing staff members, Trisha, Dream, Apple, Katie, Channy, Myskina and Pitcha who are such attentive, well-mannered girls who go over and beyond for patrons and they emit such a welcoming and comfortable vibe to anyone entering the hotel which, I think is significantly important for patrons. I refer to them as "my children". Any patron who enters the Hotel is automatically greeted with a smile and acknowledgement of presence. They are aware of what certain patrons normally drink and have that drink brought to them within seconds. That is not the norm in other places which I have frequented. The girls are always on the go in keeping patrons' drinks flowing without the need to ask, the surrounds are constantly being cleaned and kept impeccably tidy in and around the entire areas of the Hotel. I would also like to give a shout out to Matt, Gerard, David and Petronius. These boys do an amazing job, always checking on other staff members ensuring the smooth running and operations within the Hotel are maintained and patrons are comfortable. On a more important note, my greatest thanks must go to the Security Guard, Mo. Such precision in security. I have witnessed his diplomacy in the terrible situations where he can calm the angriest person. It is quite obvious he takes his work seriously and implements it diligently. He is always checking on patrons in all areas of the Hotel especially in the gaming section. Overall, The Ashfield has come a long way in the last couple of years. It feels like a second home. I like to measure a pub's gastronomical efforts by the cut of their Sniz (tautology intended) and this was O.K by me. The beer was a let down though. I had to take back my 2nd Cooper's Pale ale because it tasted like VB. Easy mistake to make I guess... they're both green taps.... and they were next to each other..... Oh never mind, the Barman was nice enough about it to give me a new one. They do have a cocktail happy hour at some stage, either Thurs or Friday, but you'll wait a while to get it made. I did as much research online as I could about the cocktails that were made here and whether or not I'd be able to have them (allergies and dietary restrictions). Initially I went in thinking that I'd only be able to order 2 types of drinks (a margarita and a mojito) since they were both rum-based, which at the moment is the only type of spirit I can consume without having to deal with angry red splotches on my face and arms (vodka and whiskey just don't agree with my skin I suppose). But the bartender asked me what types of alcohols I preferred, so that he could make me something that I could have without worrying about substituting ingredients from certain menu items. He was able to make me 2 Sailor Jerry rums over ice and I can't quite remember what the other ingredients were, but I'm pretty sure there was cinnamon, lemon/lime juice, and something else which tasted amazing!!! I then proceeded to try the mojito, which was SO beautifully prepared, and tasted just as great as it looked. Something about lime (and mint) in drinks makes my tastebuds extra happy. And I'm not one to usually like drinks with any sort of fizz in them, but this mojito was just, I've found myself saying it a lot in this review, beautiful. And lastly the margarita. I almost felt sad drinking out of the glass because the presentation seemed so intricate and aesthetically pleasing! Again, outstanding craftmanship by the bartender. The sips I took of the drink coupled with the salted rim of the glass were an adventure. I finished the entire drink in 15 minutes (while saving a sip for my partner to try) but at no point in that time was I able to figure out what that intriguing and delicious taste combination reminded me of. It tasted so familiar yet so new to me. Fantastic. Out of all four drinks I had, I can't say that any one of them is better than the other, but the Sailor Jerry mix definitely made it's way into one of my favorite drinks I've ever had in my life, no joke. The staff are knowledgeable and laid-back creating a chilled out atmosphere. The idea here is to load some cash money onto a debit card which they give to you to keep; I loaded mine up with $50 for 3 people on a lazy Saturday afternoon. There is a huge selection of wines from Chardonnay to Shiraz and many regions are on display. Grab a glass and choose your preferred wine, enter your pre-paid debit card and select whether you are after a taste, 1/2 or a full glass (prices ranging from $1.75 - $12.00 depending on size). There are also meat, cheese and snack platters on offer and we went for the big dog - $60 for meats, cheeses, unlimited bread, olives, pate, pickles and dips. The food was good though a little overpriced. We didn't end up spending all of the money on our debit card so it now acts like a gift card and can be used upon return to either sample more wines or even buy a bottle (or 2)! Great spot for a drink before a movie or an afternoon with the girls.
