I ordered online for pickup. The site said my food was ready at 7:04, so we went to the drive thru when we arrived. The food was not ready and as we sat in the drive thru, the time just kept getting later and later. The girl finally opened the window and asked us to pull to a parking spot. My husband refused and said that we weren't parking when the food was already late. He stated we would sit there until it was done. We finally got our food about 15 minutes later than was promised. When we got home to eat it about 5 minutes later, the fries were cold. My turkey had hard spots along the edges, like it had been microwaved. The BBQ sandwiches looked old. The bread was soggy and the pickles and onion were sunk into them. The best part was the apple pie and brownies. So, if you're looking for dessert, this might be your place. As usual, the food was great and the service was ok but the guy serving the food actually had to dig through everything to get us the smallest portions possible. My wife ordered the rodeo platter and wanted ribs, chicken strips and brisket. The guy actually dug through the ribs and chicken strips to find the smallest rack and chicken pieces. Then when we got our drinks she asked the lady at the register for some ranch sauce and had to wait while she helped three other customers before she finally asked again for it. The food is hot, fresh, and plentiful and the staff is very friendly and kind! When i unpack my food bag upon arriving home, I can always tell Ruben was there! Had the fried chicken. I feel like I stuck my head in a grease bucket. It was very greasy! The rolls are just a horrible, cold mistake. But the tea was the absolute worst tea I have ever tasted! Hello to All.. Being originally from San Antonio this breaks my heart to have to tell this story about my favorite BBQ restaurant. We went into the restaurant in Portland Tx. about 10:50 this morning to order food for dine in.. We ordered 4 piece chicken with fries and a Po-boy with potato salad and slaw. We went to sit down at a table. Many were open..most were open, but nothing clean. We cleaned a table and sat down to wait..as everyone's food was coming out, we noticed no one was getting their food that they ordered..They were getting other people's orders..They were giving everyone their orders bagged up so you couldn't see what it was, so people were opening their food to find out it wasn't and giving it back to the employees after being "dug into", then the employees were giving that handled food to the people who actually ordered it.. I got up to avoid this happening, just to find out another couple had already gone through our bags and returned it to the employee who then handed it to us.. I saw this happen. It happened to others as well. I gave it back to the employee and explained why i wanted a new order. He took it and inside of 30 seconds brought it back out to us..he went to the back and put both white bags into a brown bag and brought back out to us.. INSIDE OF 30 SECONDS after waiting 15 mins for our food.. It was the same food the other couple touched and gave back because it wasn't theirs.. HELLO...COVID!?! My husband and i took the bag back to the register to tell them what happened and get our money back..they had already been dishonest. The Manager said nothing, gave me my cash and dropped my change in my hand, making me almost drop it. Then snatched my receipt from me. I believe the name on the receipt was James S... We will never go back in there again. I am so ashamed of them and unfortunately they reflect directly on Bill Miller's BBQ. I truly hope someone with some authority in Bill Miller's gets this and does something..I would hope someone cares read more

I've been eating Bill Miller since I was a kid...every now and then I'm in the mood for their Chicken Strips. So about 2 months ago I had my wife stop and pick me up their 4 piece. I was extremely disappointed. They were not even chicken strips, more like chicken nuggets! I understand these days cutting food cost but come on! How are you going to get one chicken strip and cut it into 4 pieces and call it chicken strips still. So 2 nights ago feeling like taking my chances and try again to get the chicken strips I'm used to them selling I order again....same disappointment!!! Recently moved to Portland and dying to have Texas BBQ. I was not impressed with Bill Miller Bar-B-Q. I had a Poor Boy sandwich with potato salad. The sandwich hardly had any slices and of meat, and what was there was mostly fat and not meat at all. The BBQ sauce as tanging, but was disappointed with the meat. The potato salad was good. 1 star for the sauce and potato salad. Do better!!! read more

Had dinner at Bill Miller I had the Fried Chicken it was very crispy it could use some seasoning but otherwise it was very good.

My chicken sandwich had about 1/4 cup of chicken and a HUGE piece of gristle. I also asked for green beans instead of fries. Nope.

Slow service, small portions, and high prices is what you get for your money. Do yourself a favor go to Chick-fil-A.

This Bill Millers is one of the best! I'm from San Antonio and moved to New Braunfels, So I am very familiar with BM BBQ. The two in New Braunfels are horrible so I was a bit leery about trying another new one outside of San Antonio. After several visits to the Portland Bill Millers I can honestly say everything I've tried was really good, fried chicken, bbq, beans and even the tamales are good! Yes, the service is not that great but so long as the food is good, I can put up with a little rudeness, especially considering how difficult it is to get good help right now. Was excited to see that they put a new store in Portland but severely disappointed at the incompetence. We went inside and stood at the vacant counter for a good five minutes before one girl said she'd help us in just a second. Waited another few minutes and a guy said we can't order at the counter. We'd have to go around to the back and order at the to-go window. We had planned to eat inside with other patrons who were doing so. We left and drove through the drive-up, ordered two quarter chicken delights, no rolls and no cheese on one of the salads. Got home, found we had rolls, had cheese on both salads and got shorted half of one of the chicken quarters (there was a thigh but no drumstick). We've never had any issues with other Bill Miller's restaurants- hope this is just due to growing pains and the newness of reopening post-pandemic. If you go through the drive through, check your order before pulling away from the window. read more
