Needless to say, I was on Yelp finding someone else for a 2nd opinion. Jennifer at Metz called me and messaged me right away to view video footage and get something scheduled. I was able to call, text, and email her as often or as little as I needed to and ALWAYS received a response. The communication was exceptional from start to finish. Someone came out that same week to take a look and give out a timely estimate. This company does offer financing, although we did not use it. The quote was less than half of what the other company had quoted us. We got a straight forward diagnosis, with honest pricing, and reliable service. The team came out on the day they were scheduled at the time they were scheduled. They were able to complete our project in only 2 days. Extremely efficient, and walked my husband through what they were doing and put us at ease with what still needed to be done. An 8' piece of (very accessible) pipe would need to be replaced with estimate of $2500!!! I asked how they could justify that price - they said, "we're not as expensive as some companies." I said how much do you get an hour? $400/hour! AND $450 for 8' pipe. We said, no way!" Had job done with new pipe - and inspected by gas company - for $800. Buyer beware of these guys. They also offered to replace our "stack pipe" - drain pipe from upstairs fixtures - for $14K! Why? Because of a leak at the bottom of the stack in the basement. During a subsequent plumbing project,…read moreanother licensed plumbing company discovered several serious installation defects, including a house trap pitched backward, an improperly configured pipe connection, and a PVC joint that hadn't been properly bonded. Approximately 10 feet of piping was retaining raw sewage. The findings were professionally documented with measurements, photographs, and video. The defective installation had to be removed and replaced. What disappointed me most wasn't the mistakes themselves, but McVay's response. I contacted them immediately, but it took several days to receive a callback. With 50 feet of open trench inside my home, waiting indefinitely wasn't an option, so the other company documented the problems and completed the repairs. When presented with the evidence, McVay denied warranty coverage because they hadn't inspected the work themselves, relying instead on a county inspection that had previously approved the installation. Despite the detailed documentation, there was no offer to visit, meaningfully investigate, or even express concern. I wasn't seeking compensation. The repairs were completed at no additional cost to me. I simply expected some accountability. **Mistakes happen. How a company handles them says everything about its integrity.** I would never hire McVay again.
